Destiny's Grooming
16705 SE McLoughlin Blvd #A, MilwaukieThe price is very expensive for me, but Mario is by far the best in the business. He did my little, elderly dog in half the time and she was calm as could be when I picked her up. She was cut well too boot. Somehow I'll have to come up with the bucks to keep going back to him.

Cheryl's Canine Styling
9435 SE 32nd Ave, MilwaukieCheryl and her staff have some magic touch which renders my 13yo pibble into putty when she gets pampered there. My dog usually shakes before getting groomed but with Cheryl she's totally fine. She even walks to the back by herself!
Highly recommend this place for all you furry friend grooming needs.

Pet Care

CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets
10400 SE Main St, MilwaukieMy dog is a young senior and had a new murmur with otherwise excellent health. The doctors and staff explained that she should have a full life undeterred by her heart as long as I change her diet to include grains and not include many legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) as it's suspected they may interfere with the absorption of taurine. Studies have not proven this connection yet, so we cannot be certain, but apparently many other dogs they have seen have had their health improve once switching diets. The office is clean and calm and the doctor was happy to thoroughly answer my questions. Thank you!

Southgate Animal Clinic: Stemper Tammy DVM
7851 SE King Rd, MilwaukieI've been a client for nearly thirty years, and Southgate has always provided excellent service and care to my pets. From dealing with recurring mast cell cancer with one dog, to accommodating my current little barker's nerves every time his nails are trimmed, they're wonderful.

Gladstone Veterinary Clinic
18420 SE McLoughlin Blvd, MilwaukieI recently moved to Gladstone and have been concerned about finding a vet office that is fear free for my two little guys. My pomchi had cancer surgery several years ago and was traumatized by the experience. My other pup, 1/2 poodle and 1/2 chihuahua just has a scaredy cat personality. My dogs were instantly won over by the vet tech and the vet was just as wonderful with them. It is important for me to prevent my guys from feeling unsafe and even after my pomchi had to have a lump aspirated he was still fine. I recommend these women highly

Linwood Animal Clinic
6135 SE King Rd, MilwaukieI brought my cat in to Linwood after receiving poor care at a different vet for an abscess on my cats foot. I had already spent $1400 at the other vet and the abscess wasn't resolved. The staff at Linwood were amazing! They took care of my cats foot properly and my total bill was a bit more than $400. I appreciate all of the staff at Linwood! We will continue our pets care with them.

6899 SE Thiessen Rd, MilwaukieGreat place and fantastic trainers! I've had two puppies trained and socialized through Wags n Wisdom and I've found all trainers to be very compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and kind. Adventure Dog
4510 SE Roswell St, MilwaukieBen and Janelle are amazing! I have been entrusting them with the care of my German Shepherd for over 10 years. Any time that we can't bring our dog on vacation, they have taken the greatest care of him. They are the only dog walkers/boarders that we trust. A phenomenal operation run by great people!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

The Fried Spot
17180 SE McLoughlin Blvd, MilwaukieWe weren't sure how to get it, but it is in the bar. The bar has cheap drinks and you can order with George. He's the guy making the food, and he delivers. In fifteen minutes we got three orders of fish and chicken with fries and other sides. The ranch was amazing, all the sauces were top notch and all the fried food was clean and tasty. The desserts are worth your time too, the banana pudding was legit and George made sure we were full with extras. We will bed back and if you have doubts, check it out. Affordable, and respectful of your time and dollar. I want to try the halibut and collard greens next time I'm in.

Beer Store Milwaukie
10610 SE Main St, MilwaukieThe name says it all "Beer Store," a place for the people, And the place has a community center feel, good place to hang out. But no community center has 20 brews on tap and over 100 cans (which you can drink there or to go.) Drank an IPA from Oceanside CA, & brought home one from Austin TX. Didn't eat anything, but the nachos looked very good, and some interesting options on the menu. Friendly, helpful beertender. A quintessential beer store.

Keeper Coffee - Milwaukie
10722 SE Main St, MilwaukieSuper cute space, delicious coffee, kind staff, and love that they pay their baristas well enough that they don't have to rely on tips to make a living wage.
But one thing I didn't see prior to coming is that they discourage laptops on the weekends, so this is not a student-friendly space to study, at least on the weekends, and staff are hard on that rule. I came here early to study for 2 hours before meeting a friend for coffee and was told that I could stay until 9, when the brunch crowd arrives. I didn't bother mentioning that I was meeting someone at 9:30, because I didn't think it was relevant. Still, at 9, I closed my laptop to adhere to the messaging posted on every table. I'm glad I did, because I saw a staff member approach another gal nearby with her laptop open. I don’t know what was said, but the placard on rhe table was pointed to, the gal looked upset, and she got up and left the cafe afterward. I get that they need to keep tables open for higher-paying customers so they can being in the money to support their staff, and I wouldn't have come to this Cafe to study if I knew their weekend laptop policy sooner, so I'm leaving this here for other students who are looking for study-friendly spaces.
Again, super cute space and it definitely fulfills a purpose of being more of a brunch place; I will definitely come back as a diner, but probably not to study, because being told I could only stay until 9 and then watching another person being told they could not have their laptop out was awkward.

Milwaukie Cafe and Bottle Shop
9401 SE 32nd Ave, MilwaukieVery cute neighborhood coffeeshop that sells various coffee items, breakfast item, sandwiches and polenta and other sides including a crunchy monkey bread. They sell glass stained items too. I had a meeting there and found my group had pushed some tables together. We got a monkey bread and it was fun to share. Very crunchy and sweet. There is street parking here. Very busy place on a weekday before lunch. Service was fast. They will make your orders right. Which is very comforting to know.

Ohana Hawaiian Cafe
10608 SE Main St, MilwaukieNoah was super helpful, I was hungry and in store to try something new. I walked in and he immediately created me, let me know that he was there to help. He even helped me pick out my food plate which was the loco moco. DANK! It was so bomb, we got sat and the whole vibe of being there the ambience was just a 10/10. Thanks to everyone.

McQueen's Bar & Grill
14680 SE River Rd, MilwaukieThis bar is a local favorite, for good reason. Good pours, local crowd mixed with pop ins, and excellent food. The kitchen is manned by Seneca, who serves hand crafted specials. I had the pastrami benedict special, perfectly poached eggs and no breaks in the hollandaise, with a good portion. Karaoke on Friday and Saturdays with a varying crowd.

pFriem Family Brewers - Milwaukie Tasting Room
10722 SE Main St #120, MilwaukieThe group I was with booked the second floor. There was another group there as well. Very loud and echos. Could not communicate with anyone more than 3' away.
Food and beer were good but the person taking orders stood at one end of the room. With a bigger crowd, it was difficult to get to him. Think they lost a lot of sales because folks sat with no food or drinks because he didn't visit the tables to take orders.
