HISSS
2106 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, PortlandHad our son's birthday party here. Left us speechless with our experience. The kids and parents raved over their enjoyment from the educational part of their habitats to learning how to handle such reptiles. Big thanks to Dru and PDX Critters for everything. Small shop with everything you could need. Very knowledgeable. They are there for the critters and not some let's make a buck shop. Driving from Vancouver for all our needs.

Cuttle Fish and Corals
6363 SW Capitol Hwy, PortlandCuttle Fish and Corals is a one stop reef aquarists dream. Pete helped me get my tank up and running. He was able to get me up to speed after fifteen years away from the hobby. He and all the crew there are knowledgeable about what can benefit your system. As I brought my system online I had a green hair algae bloom that was out of control. Pete pointed me to the hungriest of critters to help me control the bloom. I always know I'm getting the best answers when I shop here!

Mud Bay
1616 NW Glisan St, PortlandA massive thank you to both Grim and Violet. They were wonderful to our pup. Our sweet pup loves to play and talk and people who don't know dogs well can be concerned by her. This is the first time I have seen our pup play with people other than my husband and I. It was absolutely refreshing to know in a crazy busy place like Portland that there are wonderful and kind individuals who do an amazing job at connecting with their customers. As a dog mom this absolutely warmed my heart that they both took the time to get to know our sweet puppygirl. Thank you so much for a splendid experience!

Bark Avenue PDX
12950 SW Pacific Hwy suite 245, PortlandWe started daycare and boarding with BarkAve at the end of this summer, and our 2.5 year old pup Cinnamon LOVES it! We were looking for a new doggie daycare and we've had such a great experience here. We needed to board Cinnamon just a few weeks after we started there and she adjusted so well, and I think that's largely due to the fact that the management and staff are wonderful at helping pups adjust. We love that someone stays with the dogs overnight and has a slumber party, that makes being away from our fur babies a little easier knowing they're snuggled in at night instead of locked in a crate all alone like a lot of boarding places do.
Cinnamon absolutely loves daycare at BarkAve as well and all of the staff have a genuine care for the doggos. If you check out the pics I've shared you'll see our pups happy face from playing all day! When we pull up to the parking lot Cinnamon gets excited and pulls me until we get to the door! She always comes home so happy from her days playing with her friends. The management and staff are wonderful, which is what I think makes this place so special. We never like being away from our fur kiddos, but if we have to this is the spot to take them to.

Pet Care

Peninsula Dog and Cat Clinic
8260 N Interstate Ave, PortlandI’ve been a loyal and faithful client at PD&C for almost a decade, and I simply can not express how impressed and grateful I am to the staff, techs, and doctors at this practice. The level of care is *exceptional*- I had a cat that suffered a nearly fatal coyote attack, two dogs with naproxen poisoning, and at least one round of intestinal parasites… and they’ve just taken the best care of my pets.
The front desk staff has become almost an extension of our family- Lita & Karla are so welcoming and warm- they remember details about our family and feel like they are invested in our whole family health. Drs Weinstein, Deremer, and Mallov are *exceptional* in their field. I trust and value this veterinary practice, and consider them friends. Very, very grateful for PD&C, and hope to count them among our most trusted providers for many years to come.
Update: we saw Dr Mallov recently for a diagnosis on my dog’s hip- he was SO gentle and knows my dog (blind/ arthritic/ and quite opinionated) so he and the tech (Rob- we love Rob.) were careful to treat him respectfully and keep him safe (dog can jump unexpectedly off of high surfaces).
I was pleased that my dog was comfortable and accommodating to the checking, and didn’t nip or grumble. We got a great diagnosis that won’t break the bank, and is a program that will both support our dog’s needs now and prepare us for possible concerns down the road. Our peace of mind is critical, and I SO appreciate that this practice won’t pressure you with a “hard sell” on services. They give excellent council, and really and truly care for our pets and… us owners too. I will always, always be grateful for this amazing veterinary practice in the heart of Kenton.

Wildwood Veterinary Clinic
3734 S Moody Ave, PortlandI switched to wildwood from a very long care with rose city vet since 2020. I was not happy w/ my dr/drs there when it came to my dogs senior care. they just kept giving me the same medications and hard to see one dr. Wildwood vet Dr. johnson listen to us carefully and had great solutions and if one thing didn’t work she offered another.
my senior pup I believed lived extra longer because of their care and suggestion of medications. He was not in pain and although I wished he lived little longer, I believe he left when he needed to and after my dog passed wildwood sent me a sweet sympathy card. I appreciate the detail and care. I will be going back to have them care for my 2nd pup. Thank you for great vet care with presto & many more to come! It is not easy to find trusted vet care.

Moreland Veterinary Hospital
7201 SE Milwaukie Ave, PortlandHi all, my boyfriend and I are here in Portland visiting his family and we have a foster pup that ate a corn cob, at the time we did not know what it was. Dr. Bruno recommended giving IV fluids to see if it would move the obstruction farther down and hopefully get his body to digest it. But with no success the rescue that saved him from a major kill shelter in Az decided to do surgery. Dr. Bruno did an amazing job with surgically removing the corn cob and sowing him back up. We are so thankful for him seeing us and taking on our situation. He is an incredibly busy doctor and was getting ready to leave town but saw us anyways. He is also a local vet which we love to support the local community. I called at least 10 other Veterinarian hospital's and it seems as though Portland has been taken over by coperate Veterinarian hospitals. Their prices for surgery start between $3,500 & go as high as $12,000 for just removing an obstruction. That is absolutely ridiculous and it seems as though they are just taking advantage of the general public because once it becomes all corporate people will have no where else to go. This Veterinarian is considerably less expensive than the corporate hospitals. Support this local Vet they are wonderful. Their staff are all great, very caring and also very helpful. Pat is the Vet Technician that did a great job with our foster boy. The other technician are also all wonderful. I can not say enough positive things about this local Veterinarian hospital.

Portland Animal Clinic
1755 SW Madison St, PortlandI took my elderly cat in for her first appointment here today and I am so happy I did. The staff was cordial and Dr. Castle was very professional and helpful. The last vet my cat went to was not nearly as helpful and seemed to be more concerned with money than care of the animals, even going so far as to say they may not be the cheapest, but I should remember that you get what you pay for. While I understand that to an extent, I believe that was not the case with our now ex-vet clinic. I would happily pay the prices of the previous clinic for the care from this one.
Portland Animal Clinic was also able to give me her medicine right away unlike the other vet who sent me to a specialty pharmacy that was quite a ways away. I am ecstatic to continue my best friend's care with Portland Animal Clinic and Dr. Castle.

BluePearl Pet Surgery
10245 SW Park Way, PortlandMy pup had surgery here a while back and I wanted to take the time to share my gratitude.
Prior to surgery, my husky had been diagnosed with cancer and both of us were thrown headfirst into a whirlwind of confusion. The consult at BluePearl Pet Surgery was the first time any professional provided a concrete and clear explanation of what was happening and what the best course of action moving forward should be. They were also the first of eleven surgical/oncology offices to actually return my call, which was very appreciated given the aggressive nature of the cancer. Their quick turn around directly contributed to much more quality time with my pup. I was also truly impressed with Dr. Cioffi and her team. They were incredibly informative, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Thank you all

Cathedral Animal Hospital
8904 N Ivanhoe St, PortlandWe moved to Cathedral a few years ago on the recommendation of a friend. We've seen several of their veterinarians and techs in that time. There's so much positive to say about our care at Cathedral. We mostly see Dr. Jenny - she's the best. She makes such a fuss over our pets, which I'm sure she does with all the dogs and cats but it makes us feel special. We've had some ups and downs with our pets over the years and she's always steered us in the right direction. Very grateful to have her. We also love the techs. We've worked with MJ most recently when our kitten was sick and MJ just seems so delighted to see her. I think they might love our pets more than we do LOL. I was in the clinic last week and one of the front desk staff, Libby, really likes dog. She drew the cutest picture on a sticky note that was an absolute likeness of our girl. It's now framed in our house. Libby also had a magic trick a few visits ago to get our dog to stop crying in the waiting room; she gave her a little bit of spray cheese on a tongue depressor and that kept our dog occupied while we waited to be roomed.
If you're looking for a new veterinary home, I'd suggest checking out Cathedral.

Urban Pawsibilities
3737 SE 21st Ave, PortlandWe took a recall class here over a year ago with our very excitable dog and have been intermittently practicing what we learned since. We finally worked up to 1000 acres today (huge off leash dog oriented nature area with lots of dogs) and our dog’s recall was impeccable!! We were honestly kind of shocked! He’s always been so excited by other dogs, he even had to be behind a visual barrier during class so he could try to focus because seeing other dogs was too distracting. I didn’t fully expect him to be able to recall in an environment like this, but he did! We learned a lot of great foundations at UP and today proved to me that he’s really getting it. If you think your dog can’t ever be trusted off leash, I definitely recommend the trainers here.

Instinct Dog Behavior & Training Portland
7525 N Richmond Ave, PortlandKirah was absolutely vital in restoring peace in our home. We have two dogs who had always lived together happily, until they didn’t. Our younger dog began overcorrecting and going after our older dog, and it quickly became stressful and honestly scary.
She quickly identified that our younger dog has a more intense temperament and was redirecting her built-up energy and frustration toward our older dog. From there, Kirah gave us a clear, step-by-step path: how to safely intervene, how to help the dogs feel comfortable sharing space again, and how to use verbal cues to manage situations before they escalate.
Beyond the techniques, she taught me how to read each of their body language cues, both the obvious and the subtle, and understand that they communicate differently. That alone has been invaluable.
Kirah didn’t just bring our household back to a manageable place—she improved it. Our home feels calmer, safer, and healthier for all of us. I truly can’t recommend her enough. She is exceptional at what she does.

Doggy Business Dog Training Portland
4421 NE 79th Ave, PortlandDoug was recommended to me by a trainer I have been using for twenty plus years. My service dog was missing his siblings after their death and had become dog reactive. Doug walked with me to observe what was going on in my neighborhood. He gave me a procedure to follow and in no time my goldendoodle was ignoring other dogs. Once that was perfected around our complex we went to a nearby park and he walked with me to practice on unruly dogs. Gibbs was taking their ill behavior as an opportunity to play. I am in a wheelchair and he adjusted for my disability. He is a very pleasant person to learn from and we both enjoyed our training sessions. My service dog is an important part of my independence and Dougs' extensive knowledge of dog behavior gave us a tune up on how to handle this one issue as well as general helpful hints on everyday life with a 90lb dog.

They are knowledgeable, professional, lots of personal attention and our dog has responded very well. She is more confident, eager to learn and has a bunch of new skills we are continuing to work on. Oregon Dog Rescue
6100 S Macadam Ave, PortlandTaking in consideration the current state of the world/ how many dogs are left to fend for themselves, I could not have more kind words for the workers here and this facility. We Adopted a 7 month old little boy who had some sickness previously, Michael Myers; he’s your average puppy and needs some parental love but he just so happened to be the perfect anxiety and asthma dog, the first night we brought him home I had an asthma attack and passed out, he laid with me and gently grabbed the nebulizer to put on my lap and got a family member to me… I hope to rescue another baby just like this one when possible and it’s best for the dog. Thank you thank you thank you and THANK YOU?
