“Love this boutique gem of a hotel. Our second stay in the perfect 2bdrm rooms with our adult children. Location is absolutely perfect. Love the space. The washer and dryer was awesome. Art work was beautiful. Felt like we were at home. First time to have a balcony and loved coffee and a book out there early morning. Lowlands for dinner was exquisite. Staff very helpful. Would highly recommend! One of our absolute favorite hotels!”

“We spent 4 nights in a Deluxe King room at the French Quarter Inn in March. What a great hotel! The location is perfect, walking distance to everything! The breakfast was excellent. We opted for room service each morning as our room had a view of St Philip's church. The room was clean - the bathroom was large - beautiful facility. We also enjoyed the evening happy hour offered by the hotel. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We also went on a walking tour offered by the hotel with a local guide, Skip Evans. He was excellent and I highly recommend it. The Inn also had bicycles for use but we decided walking was in our best interest! I would highly recommend staying at the French Quarter Inn - you won't be disappointed.”

“After three nights at The Spectator Hotel, I can confidently say this is our favorite hotel we've stayed at in any US city, and we will absolutely be coming back!

Our butlers David and Jim were fantastic, genuinely attentive and went above and beyond for anything we needed. The valets James and Tyler were great too. When our room wasn't ready, they stored our bags without a second thought and gave us some amazing BBQ recommendations while we waited. Such a nice touch!

The location is spot on. It's on a quiet block but still walking distance to King Street, so you get easy access to everything without the noise.

If you're visiting Charleston, just stay here. The hospitality is the real deal.”

“We stayed at Zero George for our anniversary and we absolutely loved our stay here. The property was beautifully maintained and is a great place for couples to stay. The location of the property is another great added advantage as well as it is very easy to either walk or bike to downtown Charleston. From the general hospitality, to extremely quick and prompt responses to any requests from our own end and the little touches such as cookies as soon as we arrived, to a luggage tag souvenir at the end when we were leaving the place made sure we will remember Zero George for a long time. Lastly, the breakfast also deserves an honorable mention as it was extremely fresh and tasty.”

“Although we did not check into this hotel, we did walk-through as part of our downtown experience. Absolutely beautiful hotel. Good parking. Would love to check in at some time.”

“We stayed at the Loutrel in August 2025 for a romantic getaway. The hotel itself is very charming with a lot of extras such as happy hour, live music on Fridays, and a lounge room with snacks and drinks. All of the staff were kind and helpful but I want to give special recognition to Anesia who was very accommodating to my boyfriend in switching out our room. The hotel is a lovely place to stay in Charleston and close to all of the restaurants, market and other attractions. However, it is also in a quiet area without a lot of street noise. If you go on a Friday, do not miss out on the live musician Kelly Morris who was an incredible singer and musician. We thoroughly enjoyed the set he played.”

“We stayed at The Vendue 2/11 - 2/15/2026, and it was a lovely experience. The hotel is decorated throughout with many eye-catching modern art pieces. If modern art is not your thing, don't let this stop you from booking a stay! We stayed in Room 309, which was clean, comfortable, and spacious (we are used to European-sized hotel rooms, so it seemed quite large for the two of us). But the thing that really sets The Vendue apart is the service. Check-in was a very pleasant experience, where we were greeted with glasses of prosecco and made to feel very welcome. Everyone employee we encountered was kind, gracious, and helpful. The location is also a plus - steps away from the beautiful Waterpark, and there is also a DASH stop nearby, making it easy to take advantage of the very good public transportation. We were able to easily walk or ride the DASH to every attraction we wished to visit. We will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to Charleston.”

“An upscale hotel in the heart of Charleston. Lots of eateries, shopping, and local artisan jems within walking distance. The city offers free transportation, and due to the congestion at times, I would recommend taking advantage of it. The hotel has some historical architecture, but the rooms are very modern. The rooms offer blackout curtains, a separate water closet, complete with bidet! Oh, and did I mention we had our own private balcony overlooking the courtyard. The courtyard is inviting and a great place for a late evening beverage. I jane read reviews with complaints about the required valet parking, but as busy as it is, I would say it is worth the money.”

“I couldn't be happier that we chose this hotel for our first visit to Charleston. Our room was perfect and the hotel was quiet. I love that The Rise Coffee Bar is attached. The daily breakfast basket was a treat even when we went out for breakfast. Having some fruit or a breakfast pastry to start the day off was great. I asked for extra popcorn and Coca-Cola, and both were expeditiously provided. We requested rides to the aquarium and African American Museum on different days, and Matthew, the guest experience manager, was gracious in driving us to our destinations at the exact times we were hoping for. The location of the hotel - right off King Street - was so perfect. We averaged about 12k steps per day exploring the shops, historic landmarks, museums and restaurants. The bathtub in our room was perfectly slanted. I would love to come back to this hotel!”

“We had a very pleasant stay at the Barksdale House. We were thrilled to find a pet friendly hotel in such a convenient location and the price is very fair. We stayed in Room 14 in the carriage house (downstairs) and it was very quiet and our room was charming. No blackout curtains but an eye mask helped. The breakfast was nothing special but they had gluten free options which I appreciated and the iced coffee was delicious, and the waitress was very welcoming and prompt. We’d stay here again for sure!”

“This was the perfect location for our 7 day vacation in Charleston. Breakfast was always fantastic with a great city view . Valet service was prompt and easy when we needed our car for travel. We also enjoyed the wine and charcuterie in the late afternoon. We walked to dinner every night and we felt safe walking back after dark. Shopping could not have been better from this location.
We will book here again on our next trip.

“Great place to stay in Charleston! The breakfast is great along with the meat and cheese at 5! The shower water does spill onto the floor because of the glass panel being too small. Elevator also is a bit sketchy.”

“My wife and I came down for the weekend for her birthday, the staff went above and beyond to make it as special as possible. Shay at valet was helpful and whoever ordered the chocolate covered strawberry’s for us deserves a raise!”

“My wife and I stayed here earlier this year to celebrate her birthday in downtown Charleston - the staff was wonderful and the location made it easy to get to and from all the sights of the city.

While everything about the stay was great, what stood out to us most was the kindness of the team working there. When we returned from dinner, we found a charcuterie board, a fruit tray, and a bottle of wine in our room, accompanied by a note from the team wishing my wife a happy birthday! Not many hotels will go to such efforts for guests, and it clearly shows that the team truly cares for the guests who stay there. We’ll definitely be visiting this hotel again!”

“My husband and I came to Charleston for my birthday and Spring Break. The room we stayed in was amazing. The perfect size for both of us. It was a little loud from the guests staying above us, but over all very nice. The only thing we couldn't figure out was how to turn the TV down in the bedroom, and how to get the station off of the Samsung plus in the living room. We'd definitely come back.”

“Best location in town, good rooms for the price but be prepared for unimpressive front desk staff and breakfast staff. Pour rooftop service and view makes up for what the ground floor is lacking.”

“This hotel has an excellent location for walking around the city, a warm atmosphere, and outstanding service. I left something there and they shipped it back to me immediately. The front desk provision of a map and verbal tour of the city was also fantastic and helpful guidance.I didn’t go to the main restaurant but did try the coconut cake which is worth traveling for alone.”

“This is a modern, trendy hotel with very cosy and chic rooms. Situation in Charleston is great. The room has storing space to dream of and is very quiet. Staff was professional, friendly and most helpful.Their restaurant Hank's across the street is worth going to. Delicious and we had a terrific waiter.”

“I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The room was cozy, and the added touches, like complimentary coffee, made the experience even better. The location is convenient, and overall, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy your trip. Highly recommend!”

“Awesome Bar with great eats! Fried Lobster, pictures attached, was amazing! Fried perfectly and the sauce and garnishments were a perfect complement to the dish. I went to three places for Old Fashioneds and apps, all were very good, but this place won the gold medal in both categories. The Bartender mixed up one of the better Old Fashioneds in Charleston. I cannot wait to get back here!”

“I just wish that there had been enough parking at the hotel. I had to park in the parking garage across the street. Thank goodness it doesn't cost anything if you take your parking ticket and get it validated at the front desk.”

“We had originally planned to enjoy our happy hour on the deck, which offers a great open-air setting, but the intense afternoon sun made it a bit too hot to stay comfortable. Fortunately, the downstairs bar provided a cool and inviting alternative. With its relaxed vibe and shaded atmosphere, it ended up being the perfect spot for our group to gather.

As our party slowly grew in size, the staff handled the changes with professionalism and a mostly patient attitude. They kept up with our shifting table arrangements, additional drink orders, and general happy hour buzz without missing a beat. While there were a few brief delays, it was understandable given the size and pace of our group.

Overall, the experience was laid-back and enjoyable. The staff made a solid effort to accommodate us, and the bar’s flexible indoor-outdoor layout is great for groups—especially when the weather cooperates. We’ll definitely be back, hopefully next time when the sun is a bit less intense and we can fully enjoy the deck views.”

“You have to love the location and comfort of this "everything like new" accommodation. What was especially exceptional, was the way the Manager handled the problem when the internet went out for the weekend. Definitely will stay again knowing how professional this operation runs and feels.”

“I’ve stayed at the Elliott House Inn twice and both times were great. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in room 19 and there were no issues with noise. The location is great; restaurants and shops within walking distance. The courtyard is very pretty and quiet with ample seating. And, they offer wine and cheese in the evenings for anyone interested in that. The only parking is across the street and it’s a daily $20 charge. We didn’t have any issues with parking when we arrived nor any time we left and came back. I read the negative reviews and thankfully those were not our experiences. I would definitely stay here again.”
