Mill Creek Pet Food Center
8606 Two Notch Rd, ColumbiaI will only shop at Mill Creek. The customer service is always over the top, and the employees are always ready to assist. When my dog developed several food allergies, one Mill Creek employee took the allergy print off and walked around their entire food selection, reading over every ingredient carefully to make sure I was getting the very best. Bayden, Kirby, and the rest of their team prove time and time again why Mill Creek is the #1 place to shop. I’ve never had a bad experience, and I don’t think they plan to serve me one. If you’re looking for only the best, I recommend MillCreek!

We can’t say enough about how good this place is, and Dr. Rosmers handling of this situation. We received a sympathy card signed by the staff, and paw prints and nose prints of our little girl. They also made a donation to a veterinary school in Jezebel’s name.

Contented Canines
621 Lady St # A, ColumbiaWe adopted a 2 year old cattle dog in September. I knew what we were getting into, lol, and things were moving along, but walking was problematic due to pulling and urges to chase squirrels, cats and scents. In addition he was reactive to dogs on leashes. He would also growl unexpectedly at my partner. There was a lot to work on and I needed some help. He is a great dog who deserved a successful second chance and I owed it to him to learn to communicate and connect with him. Enter Thomas Kelly at Contented Canines! After our initial free 30 minute consultation I knew our philosophies aligned regarding a reward-based program. I signed up for the initial assessment/consultation and I got so much out of it that some folks might just need that to address their issues. Tom is obviously well-versed in dog psychology and behavior. He gently critiques and suggests areas for improvement as well as highlighting what is going well. He has helped with troubleshooting via text and is very responsive. He also provides numerous resources and will emphasize what you need to do first. My dog was walking on a loose lead during that first session and has been ever since. He is also so much more relaxed, that is also a concept you will learn to teach your dog. Although I use the term “program” and there are core concepts/principles, the lessons have been fluid to an extent and tailored to our issues. I signed up for the series of Foundation classes because I see the value in continuing to work on our connection and our lives have been incrementally better each day. Do yourself, and, more importantly, your dog, a favor and help him/her live the best life possible!

Off Leash K9 Training Columbia
3021 McNaughton Dr Unit 6, ColumbiaAshley was absolutely amazing! We sent our 4 month old German Shepherd Anubis to her for some early stage training. This is my first dog, so I was completely clueless on where to start with him. My husband has had experience training dogs, but with his schedule as a Drill Sargent the burden of training was placed on me. We could tell the difference in Anubis just after one week with her. He was recalling much better, and I’m so much more comfortable letting him out to potty without his leash on. His leash manners have also improved greatly! I know German Shepherds have the reputation for being reactive and we wanted to ensure that we get Anubis into training early to avoid reactive behavior. Ashley gave me so many tools to work with him until we can take him back at 6 months. We cannot wait to see how much more he improves as he matures.

1728 Decker Blvd, ColumbiaI have been working with Ms Shana going on for about 3 years now. Every time we’ve brought our dog Murphy to her she has been very reliable for us and always accommodates us if we have an issue. Any time me and my wife decides to travel she’s always available for boarding at what I would consider a very fair price with how the economy is. Never had any issues with how she grooms and treats Murphy as if he was one of her own. I appreciate Ms Shana and all she does for us when we choose to board with her. Pets transformation will always be our go to for our pet.

BAMBOO COTTAGE DISTRIBUTORS LLC
3726 River Dr, ColumbiaWhen I visited Bamboo Cottage Food Truck at the Columbia Soda City food court, I was immediately struck by the warmth of the atmosphere and the friendliness of the crew. The head chef, Oto, despite being busy, generously offered me samples of both the Jerk Chicken and the Curry Chicken, making my choice quite difficult. The Jerk Chicken was bursting with rich BBQ flavor and perfectly balanced allspice, while the Curry Chicken impressed me with its distinct Jamaican flavors and bold turmeric notes.
In the end, I chose the Jerk Chicken, accompanied by classic Jamaican-style rice and beans and the standout Reggae Pasta. The Reggae Pasta, with its harmonious allspice and lively kick, was truly the highlight of my meal. I highly recommend Bamboo Cottage Food Truck to anyone seeking authentic and memorable cuisine in Columbia, S.C., and I look forward to trying more of their delicious offerings in the future.

Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea
1002 Park St, ColumbiaStopped in for a cup of coffee before an orchestra performance. Walking in, we were unpleasantly surprised at a calligraphy class being hosted. The class in and of itself sounded fun, but the woman teaching it was using a PA system. The space being used would make it hardly necessary to use an elevated voice to have everyone's attention. It was loud enough to where the barista couldn't hear our order, nor could we hear the total. We left asap. Coffee however, was delicious and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again, provided there are no classes going on.

City Of Columbia Animal Services
127 Humane Ln, ColumbiaI know this is just a public kennel, but I really thought the employees put some heart into it. It was big with multiple rooms, and you had plenty of choices as long as you wanted a pitbull. Of course they had other breeds, but they are either harder to find, or they were out in the yard playing with other prospective adopters. There was a very nice play area, as well as individual cages to sit with the animals. They only had four cats, but I'm going back in the morning to pick up one of them. They were minimally invasive as far as my personal motivations, unlike one of the private foster options which are more interested in interrogating humans then placing animals. I commend the work these people too.
