The store was clean, well-organized, and stocked with so many traditional Jamaican staples that can be hard to find. Moving to Texas from the Northeast/East Coast has definitely been a challenge when it comes to finding authentic Jamaican ingredients, so discovering this store was such a relief. The person working there was very warm and welcoming, which immediately made me feel comfortable. I was also helped by another customer while shopping, I didn’t catch her name, but she was incredibly kind and offered helpful suggestions as I picked out items. I especially love their selection of beauty products. They carry some of the best non-toxic brands, and I also appreciate their selection of raw cheeses and A2 milk. They have a great variety of non-toxic cleaning products as well. The store itself is bright, colorful, and very inviting. “Central Market at Midway and Northwest Highway in Dallas has become my favorite location, and one of the biggest reasons is the people. I visit often enough that Ivan, who regularly assists me in the prepared foods area, has gotten to know my dietary preferences and the types of meals I typically choose. What I appreciate is that he never treats that familiarity as an excuse to simply go through the motions. He remembers what works for me, pays attention to what is being served, and will suggest something different when he genuinely believes I might enjoy it. Today, for example, he recommended the crab cakes that were being offered, and I was glad I tried them. That may sound like a small thing, but it is exactly the kind of service that creates customer loyalty. Today I was approximately 17 miles away, yet I made the drive to this particular Central Market for lunch because I knew I could get a hot, well-prepared meal with healthier and more nutritious options than simply stopping somewhere for fast food. I can purchase food almost anywhere. I choose to come here because the quality of the food and the quality of the people consistently make the extra drive worthwhile. The prepared foods team deserves recognition as well. You can tell there is care behind what is being cooked and served. When employees recognize familiar customers and are smiling before a purchase has even been made, that says something about the culture of a store. Ivan, in particular, represents that culture extremely well. He is consistently friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and willing to help. He has taken the time to understand what I look for in a meal and has made my visits more enjoyable because of it. To the management of this location and the corporate leadership at Central Market: Ivan deserves an acknowledgment for the way he takes care of your customers. Employees like him are one of the reasons customers are willing to drive past other options and come back to a specific store. There are plenty of places where I can buy lunch. There is only one Central Market at Midway and Northwest Highway with Ivan and this particular team. They have earned my loyalty, and I hope Ivan receives the recognition he deserves.”

“My first impression was a little hectic. It was full and the Best Buy fruit section but again that’s nobody can really control that vegetable fruits. Most of the time are really good prices. Everything else is I guess here and there you gotta figure out what works for you what exactly is needed but overall they have plenty of people working there. That’s a good thing. Walmart wants your groceries at the door before the ice cream softens. On May 29, the retailer said its 30-minute-or-less delivery had reached 33 U.S. markets, adding a wave of new cities across the Northeast. Shoppers in those areas can order from more than 100,000 items, everything from fresh produce and baby formula to pet food, electronics, cold medicine, and prescriptions. Behind the scenes, the service leans on Walmart's store network and an algorithm that factors in order size, available drivers, and distance from the store.
Trader Joe's keeps adding stores, and shoppers keep showing up. The California grocer has marked nine more locations as "opening soon," pushing its expansion into new corners of the country. The grocer also took first place in the American Customer Satisfaction Index's 2026 supermarket rankings. It has held a spot near the top of that list for years.
Target is rolling out its most ambitious store overhaul in more than ten years, with plans to remodel over 130 locations and open 30 new stores across the country this year. The retailer is also putting money into supply chain technology upgrades to keep pace with how shoppers buy today.
Kroger is spending $112 million to build two new stores and renovate 15 existing locations across central and northwest Ohio. The company calls it a "record-breaking" commitment to the region. The two new Kroger Marketplace stores will rise in Canal Winchester and Delaware, Ohio, each costing roughly $30 million to build. Kroger broke ground on the Canal Winchester location on March 19 at the southeast corner of Diley Road and Greengate Boulevard. The 118,000-square-foot store is expected to open in late fall 2026 and will create around 250 jobs.
Loblaw Companies Limited is putting serious money into its retail network this year. Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer announced it will spend $2.4 billion in 2026 to open new stores, renovate existing locations and strengthen its supply chain. The company plans to open 70 new stores in 2026. That includes 34 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix pharmacies and care clinics, along with 31 hard-discount No Frills and Maxi grocery stores. On top of the new openings, Loblaw will renovate another 191 stores and continue construction on a roughly 1.2 million-square-foot automated distribution center in Caledon, Ontario.
