I asked her if there was any way to have it switched to the store in Rockwall and she walked me through how to cancel the pick up and change the pick up to where I was. “This review is specifically for Assistant Manager Josh Allred at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Rockwall.
My very first experience with this store was honestly not a good one. My boyfriend and I brought in my brand-new custom first baseman glove to be broken in. I was told over the phone that if I brought it in on Monday, it would be ready within an hour. When we arrived, there was no one available to break it in. A very vague and not-so-friendly associate took our payment, grabbed my phone number, and placed my glove on a rack behind the register.
I didn’t hear anything for two days.
After calling on Wednesday and being transferred around, I finally got a call back from Josh. He had the unfortunate job of telling me that something had happened to the laces on my brand-new glove. And when I say brand new — I mean custom made. (It’s Whataburger themed… so yes, it’s kind of a big deal.) I was beyond upset.
But here’s where Josh changed everything.
Josh is not your typical manager. Instead of giving excuses, he gave solutions. He personally made sure my glove was relaced. On top of that, he provided me with a brand-new first baseman glove — broken in and game-ready — in time for my tournament that Saturday. Not just any glove either… he let me choose the one I wanted.
And the best part? He hand-delivered it to me.
Josh moved faster than Amazon. He did what needed to be done to make it right and to keep a customer. That kind of ownership, accountability, and customer care is rare.
Because of Josh, I will absolutely give Dicks Sporting Goods another chance.
