“After a last minute mix up I was left without Cupcakes for my girlfriend's 30th Surprise Birthday Party. I called Kroger and they stated they couldn't help me because they had no Decorator. I Drove to Food Lion and went to the bakery. There I met Shasara. I told her my plight and that I planned on proposing to my girlfriend during her party. Although Food Lion also didn't have a Decorator at work, Shasara offered to make 48 fresh cupcakes and put whipped icing on them. She saved the party and the Engagement! Shasara is the BEST!”

“It was my first visit. I was passing by from a doctor’s appointment. I live forty miles away. First thing I noticed was huge pumpkins for only $3.00. I was disappointed with the bakery area. That was the reason I stopped by. I wanted to buy a few pastries for my grandchildren. I wasn’t surprised though because in Crete, Greece I shopped at Lids and the bakery in the afternoon was empty from sweets. I was surprised how huge it was and organized. I walked around to find the section with European Goods. I noticed fresh produce. Reasonable prices. It’s one stop shop. Goods for every budget. Great variety. I loved to see European Goods. I found the European sweets. Chocolates for $1.00. Cookies for $1.00. I picked two of each. I went through the self checkout and had trouble with my card but a very pleasant employee noticed me so she came over and helped me. In other Stores if something is not going well I have to signal for help. Once in a while I do visit the area because I go to Costco but on my next shopping spree I will stop by Lids.”

Freshly cooked pizza, discounted on Monday afternoon and evening. The Asian bar is good at lunch and dinner.2015 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shop at HT regularly. Usually Thursdays for the Senior discount. Usually a good selection of groceries. Good complement to Food Lion. There are a few items each has that the other doesn't.”

“During a recent trip to VA I was on a mission to find pan dulce. After searching Yelp for all the keywords I found nothing. I walked into a busy Mexican restaurant and asked the hostess for an assist and she gave me the info for this spot.Apparently there are not a lot of "latin" food stores in the area. This place though had fresh pan dulce in a variety of flavor options. Perfect addition to your morning cafecito.Of course I had to check every aisle for other Mexican cooking necessities like chiles, harina (maseca) for tortillas, arepas, pan, corn husks for tamales, chips, cookies, Goya products, hot sauce, abuelita chocolate, they have a freezer with pupusas, empanadas, guayabas, and another fridge with desserts like tres leches cake and flan.They have money gram for sending money and phone cards. I would recommend this place if you're looking for pan dulce or you get a craving for something from back home.”

“With a choice between Food Lion and Harris Teeter, I chose Food Lion. The food selection is adequate. Most of the items I buy regularly are in stock. The produce is definitely better flavor here, and lasts longer than that of their competitor. The meat/steak choices could be better. Grocery section of the store has never disappoints. Morning staff and management are friendly and professional. The ambiance of this location is fine. No loud, overbearing noise. I will continue to use this location for my go-to grocery store. “I am updating my review from 3 years ago. The basic reason for the update and 4 stars is the pharmacy. I have been a Kroger customer for decades starting in Ohio where I lived 30 mikes from their Corporate Headquarters in Cincinnati. Stores located close to Corporate Headquarters are always the best because the regionals and store management are always on their toes. They never know when the suits from Corporate will stop by to check on things. Having worked in management in the retail/wholesale grocery industry for 13 years, I can tell you that is a fact. After I moved to the Peninsula I sought out the Yorktown Kroger because of familiarity and the ease of transferring my prescription meds from one store to another. And, then when I moved down from the Peninsula I again looked for the closest Kroger. This Marketplace store is not is not as good as the one I shopped in Ohio. They let many things slide and have ordering issues, especially in produce where they beat the produce to death causing spoilage issues and consequently stocking problems. My biggest complaint is their lack of attention and caring about keeping the electric carts charged and in good repair. As a disabled person I cannot grocery shop without an electric cart and I can seldom find one here. I have started just picking up my groceries curbside or having a competitor deliver to my home. Not my first choice but my only option. However, I have not stopped using the pharmacy. They are extremely efficient. I hear others complain about their pharmacy of choice and I don't experience any of those problems. They even answer the phone by the third ring EVERY time. I recently had to use another pharmacy company, because of supply chain problems, and it was a nightmare. It took 2 weeks to get the prescription filled and I only received it then because Kroger called them and straightened it out. THANK YOU TAYLOR!!! So with all it's flaws I think Barney Kroger would be proud.”

“Great store to get basics. It has a mix of some premium and foodlion brand. Have to admit the foodlion brand of most stuff taste similar to the premium foods. I like it because it's a store I can get I'm and out of. They do have some hardware items like house filters, candles, health and beauty. Reasonably priced items.”
