“Update: Previous bad experience below (eventually the hold came off and i got direct deposit but BECU never actually reached out about this again), however, I had to go in again for a name change and ordering checks and had a great experience. Changing my review from 1 star to 4I just opened an account with BECU as I moved to Washington from Illinois and my bank doesnt have a branch near here. My family also has accounts here and I was told how great BECU is.I opened my account online and mobile deposited my payroll check and a five business day hold was put on it.I messaged with a representative on the BECU mobile chat and was told that the hold could be taken off but it would need a manager to make an exception.When I came into this branch to try and get it sorted out I felt the people I talked to (I can't remember their names) were a little condescending and didnt want to help me at all. The manager also told me there was "no way" that an exception could be made and the hold taken off.I've worked at Banks and was told to never put a hold on a payroll check so I thought it was very strange that a credit union would do so and wouldn't even work with me on it.Being told how great BECU was, this is really not a great way to start off.”
