“Huge shoutout to Christian and the team at Berkeley Minicar. I hauled my '17 Civic to them after Honda Oakland tried to charge me $7k just to teardown my engine to diagnose what was going on with it. Christian was extremely patient, kind, and empathetic when dealing with me and my situation. They took the car in for a diagnostic and gave me a free loaner while they had it. Though they came to the same conclusion as Honda, they were more direct and explained that it would be better and cheaper for me to just replace the entire engine than try to dig around and search for the root problem which is what Honda was proposing. Though they are not able to provide that service, they were honest and open about the work. Please check these guys out next time you need some service done.”

“Chris , the owner of Holland Service , quickly found the source of a noise that I was concerned about . He took the time to go on a test drive with me to hear the noise . He then promptly put my Jeep on the lift & was able to show me where the noise was coming from . The rear driveshaft u joint was the source. Myself & other mechanics had looked for the source but were unable to find it due to the play in the u joint being very slight. Also when driving, the noise sounded like it was coming from the front of the vehicle. I spent a lot of time & money replacing front axles, u joints, & wheel bearings that were recommended by a different mechanic and still had the noise . I highly recommend Chris & his crew @ Holland Service for quality work & diagnostic.”

My car had been hit by the car parking next to me in my garage, I think more than once. Marco dealt with what seemed like a complicated matter with her insurance company, made sure I had a rental car, which was paid for by her insurance, and most importantly did a flawless repair and paint job on my car. “Bruce Tanaka has been into cars all his life apparently -- and YAS Auto is where it all comes together! Bruce is .... the PhD walking encyclopedia of automotive repair! But unlike Einstein who allegedly would get lost in thought and have to have a special path to walk so as not to get literally lost walking home, Bruce is a guy who then takes all that knowledge and FOCUS, then works with his HANDS on complex car illnesses, Japanese makes no problem but he and his buddies have what he calls a "brain trust" and I've taken my Ford truck and Chevy in as well.Very likable and fascinating points of view on things, with a Zen calm, and just one of the best mechanics I know - -and I've met many, having owned probably too many used cars in my lifetime. He is also a youthful 60-something Berkeley native, so .... get in to see him for your auto repair needs. He tells me he's not retiring any time soon ... but he is slowly and at his own pace, winding down. Prepare to wait a bit for your first appointment..... Doomo arigatoo Bruce Tanaka!”

“Had a flat (flattening?) tire and was hoping for a repair, so I called Orozco's. They said to bring it on by, no appointment necessary.They got me in immediately. Then I saw a sign that said 'cash only' and started to panic. One of the gentlemen told me that there was a bank just a block away, so I walked over.By the time I returned, the job was done. $30 for the repair, which seemed reasonable.As I was paying, I noted that the 'cash only' sign said for 'used tires' and something else. So I don't know if I actually had to pay cash. But I was glad to get it done so quickly. I'd come here again for future service.”
