Over four years of dog ownership, we worked with five different trainers (private trainers with glowing Yelp reviews, group classes like PetSmart, and more). No one even comes close to Brian. He is deeply knowledgeable, his approach is thoughtful, and he truly speaks dog. Brian has worked with an incredible range of dogs and behavior challenges, and it shows. No matter the question or concern, he always had clear, grounded guidance that made sense and actually helped.
Brian came highly recommended by our trusted vet, and finding him changed everything for our family. When our dog, Miko, turned 8 months old last summer, she suddenly began attacking her brother Rufus with no provocation (no food, no toys, no attention) and developed territorial behaviors at home. Up until that point, they were best friends, with Rufus patiently playing with her and teaching her dog manners. It was terrifying and heartbreaking, and at our lowest point, we even had to confront the possibility of re-homing Miko after losing our other dog, Luna, suddenly during her spay surgery last year. Since then, my husband and I have been training and exercising both dogs religiously, spending 3–5 hours a day between the two of us, and Brian was there every step of the way. He was endlessly encouraging and validating, especially on the hard days, helping us stay grounded and hopeful when things felt overwhelming.
What truly sets Brian apart is how much he genuinely cares and his extensive experience with dog training. He has always been incredibly generous with his time, offering phone consultations during training and even long after sessions ended. You never feel rushed, judged, or dismissed, just fully supported.
We’re beyond grateful to say that Miko has now hit 6 months with zero aggression, and the two of my dogs play together again both inside and outside of our home. If you’re struggling, losing hope, or just want someone who truly understands dogs in your corner, Brian is the real deal.

I make the drive from Venice because they are so amazing and I trust the guidance and care they give, and I see and experience the results so I know what they are teaching me works.
Toya has an incredible gift for teaching dog owners how to become calm, confident leaders and build a happy, healthy relationship with their dogs--without relying on treats for compliance. The focus is on communication, trust, structure, and understanding your dog's needs. I absolutely love the Saturday am training groups where we take the dogs in group trainings to stimulating environments like walking the beach so we can apply the skills in real time and in real settings.
What surprised me most is that the lessons extend far beyond dog training. Toya has taught me valuable lessons about leadership, consistency, patience, and how I show up in life. For that, I'm incredibly grateful.
I also appreciate how they understand giant breeds like my 185lb Great Dane, all the way to the tiniest breeds. I have a stronger bond because of this experience, and I'm excited to see Love Ur Canine's new Redondo Beach location and doggy daycare continue to grow.
Highly recommend Toya, Kevin, and their skilled team to anyone looking to transform their relationship with their dog.

Dog's Best Friend
1501 Aviation Blvd, Redondo BeachI signed my Borzoi up for several classes here and had great results! We got him as an older puppy, so he didn't have the benefit of puppy kindergarten classes, but Rebecca was able to help get him up to speed. Before coming here we tried Zoom Room, but it was clicker based drill training which just doesn't work well for sighthounds who are very visual learners. Rebecca understands that all dogs have different learning styles and abilities and adjusted her curriculum accordingly so that he was able to succeed. I also love that she is strictly positive reinforcement; no pinch/shock collars here! My husband is a first-time dog owner and he learned so much from these classes. She creates a really supportive learning no-dumb-questions learning environment for both dogs and people. Years later we still use the "settle" training from her Pup About Town class when we go out to eat at restaurants and it works great. I get asked all the time by friends with dogs how I trained him and I always refer them to DBF!

Riera's Place
1908 S Pacific Coast Hwy, Redondo BeachIf you’re in the South Bay, do not sleep on Riera’s Place. The breakfast burrito with sausage and the recommended peppers and onions was superb. I also always grab a deli slice for the ride home, which I highly recommend.

Everything they make is amazing and I literally can’t choose a favorite drink!!!!

1735 S Catalina Ave, Redondo BeachWe dined outside in the evening and it was a bit breezy so asked for the heater to be turned on and the owner of the restaurant complied. He was so kind and asked how we were enjoying everything and we all told him it was delicious and also told him our server Ashley was wonderful as well. She greeted us with a smile and cheerful hello and was very friendly throughout our meal.
There were 6 of us and we all agreed we were looking forward to coming back soon!

Very tasty very yummy. The fish was cooked wonderfully the calamari tasted great. The crabcake was over the top! And the value was incredible. this place is definitely got a good restaurant strategy going. come try it. You won't be disappointed.

Cute store location, seating both in and outdoor. This is a great place if you are walking by or live local. Otherwise you are paying street parking and spots can be hard to get.
