“Hands down, Walter Andersen Nurseries are the best in San Diego and have been around for, I think, 100 years or so now. Their educational work should be noted too with their podcasts and newsletters as well, as they are very community-focused as well. Wonderful selections, friendly staff, ownership is exceptional. Generations of family member ownership make it that way I think, and I can hardly ever drive by the area without stopping in! They really know their stuff. And did I say the selection is amazing?!”

“This a great place but they do have two locations and this one is the smaller one. Their indoor plant selection was a bit low the day we went and so we're the snacks. Not sure if we went on an off day but besides that great place to show for plants!”

“This is a fun nursery, that's dog friendly but they must be leashed because they have free roaming chickens here. You can Meander through the garden center that takes up quite a bit of space and in the center has a very nice reading room platform. There are plenty of restaurants around to pick up lunch or even better wait till afternoon and try to make it to one of the places that doesn't open until dinner for more choices. They are friendly and knowledgeable and have a nice clean bathroom. I felt the prices were a little high but this is prime real estate in a beautiful neighborhood and it's an experience so if you're looking for destination nursery experince this is a great place to go.”
“This shop has unique finds that I haven’t seen everywhere else. It’s like Pigment but better, with artisanal food stuffs, tons of candles and a great selection of beauty products and perfumes. Highly recommend stopping in to browse! Staff was really nice as well.”
“As an individual person (not some big landscaper) I just discovered and LOVE this place. Where can you get just 1 bag of sand/lava rock/pebbles? Here! And at half the price of garden centers. This truly was an amazing find. People are helpful and friendly and even loaded stuff into my car for me all 3x I went. If you need stone or sand and an individual buyer, I STRONGLY recommend trying these people. I'll be returning.”

I had a handful of questions about winter gardening and Holiday decorations and Chrissy was able to spend some quality time with me talking me through options on what has worked for her/them. All the employees there are very knowledgeable and really seem to care.
Love supporting a local business especially when it's deserved. I've only received unmatched customer service and their selection is great. Not to mention I always see them creating beautiful custom arrangements.

“In April 2026 I bought a sweet lime, a white Pakistan mulberry, in May I came here again and bought a Walnut tree. Now they are all growing well in my garden. I have visited and purchased trees from several nurseries in San Diego County. I got to say: this one is the best! better trees, better price and better service. For each tree purchased, they put the whole pot in a large black plastic bag and make a tie around the top of the pot, so that not a single dirt fell out to my car's floor. If the tree already has fruit on it, they wrap the whole tree with plastic film to protect the fruit. Father and wife or son work together to load the tree into my car and make sure every thing is safe. That's the highest level of service I don't get from other nurseries. Thank you, hard-working and kind-hearted family! Bob”
“I come here every year for my birthday to have the kind and brilliant owners help me select a new fruit tree as a gift to myself. This is one of the most special places in San Diego.”
“First time here and I am positive that it would not be my last time. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Blaze. We asked to look at the trees, and within seconds Buddy came to pick us up in a golf cart. Buddy was patient and very knowledgeable. We knew NOTHING about plants, and he made it very easy for us to make a decision on which tree to get. There was a variety of trees to choose from. We went there with the intention to get one, but we ended up buying FIVE trees! The sale was great, and the more you buy, the more discount you get! I mean how could we resist?! The trees are all well maintained. It was phenomenal. Then we picked up some house plants with Blaze before we left. It was such a great deal. Got my dream fiddle fig plant for my living room for only $50. It would have cost me $80-100 at other local nurseries! I can't wait to come back and get more plants! Thank you Buddy and Blaze!”

“We went through Home Depot for our new countertops and had a great experience all the way through. The company BlockTops was great. Jerry was super helpful during our initial consultation and was available for my random questions during our DIY demo so we were ready for our install. Previous visits:
I went to purchase a specific vacuum cleaner and after being told where to find them I was unable to find the one I wanted. I attempted to leave the store and go to another location and John Zeglin stopped me and requested to help me further. After researching on his computer he found that the store actually had 4 in stock. John then went above and beyond to locate the stock items that where almost hidden and then found the item I wanted, he then found the tallest ladder in the stairs and retrieved it for me. I’m truly great til for his customers service skills and going all in to help me. He saved me half a day of searching and time. Now I can enjoyed the rest of my day. Thanks John Zeglin for this.”

“My favorite location. The employees are always helpful. I usually find what I need. They always spend time explaining other options or recommendations to the customer. I’ve only had one run in with an employee. His demeanor towards me seemed to be irritated and angry when I asked him about military discount at the register. Like he could not be bothered by it at the time. Other than that I don’t enjoy going to any other Home Depot other than this location.”

“Great place to find everything from seeds to trees, plus everything you need to plant and manage them. They have compost in bulk, and offer ponds and the plants that go in them too. Great staff. Very knowledgable on growing plants in San Diego and the native plants as well.
Parking is not great, but worth the little bit of effort. Love this place.”
