Have the best selection of boots and hats in the area.Bought a bull hide hat a few years back and after a long and hot summer it lost its shape and brought it in to get reshaped. They didn’t charge me (unexpected) since I bought it from them. And did a great job at shaping and cleaning up the hat. Looks brand new. They have a huge selection of nonslip and metal toe shoes that are required in the workplace. James was very helpful and suggested the perfect shoes and orthotics for my men. “I came across this store by chance and was intrigued by the name because my mother has wide feet and has some trouble finding shoes that fit her comfortably. However, the reason I went into the store was because I have been recovering from a fractured ankle and foot. I was in a cast for 6 weeks and then a walking boot for another month. My doctor finally gave me the ok to slowly start transitioning out of the boot. I was having trouble with all of my shoes I have because my foot was very swollen and by the end of the day made walking very painful. From the moment I walked in I was greeted and attended to right away. Mary the owner was extremely helpful. She asked me some questions and also told me I had to be honest with her so she could do her best to find the right shoes for me. I was there for about an hour and tried on about 6 different types of shoes. I finally chose a pair of Drew's and let me tell you I could immediately feel the difference. No doubt these shoes have helped me recover faster and I am almost walking normally again. The variety, value, and quality of shoes in this store is tremendous. I will definitely be back for more shoes and the excellent service!”

The lady knew exactly what to get and the appropriate size (they only do whole sizes not 6.5, 7.5...). Easiest purchase ever! “I worked at Steven's Creek Surplus as assistant manager in my early 20's in the late 1990's. I read the reviews on here about store security watching people and I know it's annoying. But do you see what is happening everywhere? How are you going to call out a super rare, successful small business, for security these days? The truth is, people get offended. It's embarrassing to be watched. You think to yourself...me? Really? Let it go. They don't know you're an upstanding citizen. If you want them to, then talk with them. Let them get to know who you are. Don't have time for that huh? Yeah, I didn't think so. Now let's talk returns. Why do you think Costco can take back anything people want to return, after it doesn't even matter how long? That's because Costco is huge and they can make the manufacturer reimburse them. Do you think an independent surplus store has that kind of muscle? Please get real. If they take a return that they cannot sell, they eat it. The truth is...this store has been run the right way for a very long time. They have always worked to be up front with people. The policies are there right at the counter. They might not always have the best price on something, but their profit margin has always been fair. If someone has something cheaper, it's because of their buying power and lower cost. Most of the surplus stores are long gone. Steven's Creek Surplus is a survivor. I can still get lost in there forever just checking out all of their neat stuff. They are a rare gem in a world of lab diamonds. Don't break them down for petty stuff. Build them up for being pretty much the only surviving business with character and history on all of Steven's Creek Boulevard...in all of San Jose for that matter.”

“Amazing experience with the gentleman that helped us. We came in looking for boots for my friend and found them quickly. She was able to try them on and left extremely happy with her boots. While there we were also able to get tickets for an event we wanted to attend. We got the best price for the tickets because everywhere they were up to $80 dollars and we go them for $66. Absolutely recommend this place for any Western Wear. Very welcoming environment and amazing customer service!”
