Big Wave Shrimp Truck
66-521 Kamehameha Hwy, HaleiwaTried many shrimp trucks on the island. Big wave is by far the best one. Fast service, good value and portions. The shrimp is fresh and has a very good bouncy texture. The shrimp is cooked just right. Shrimp skin is just crispy enough and the garlic is not over or under cooked. Rice was perfect with butter garlic drizzled over it. There is another shrimp truck across the street and after trying both, Big Wave is #1. Parking is very convenient for they have a lot designated just for customers shopping and visiting the food trucks in the immediate area. Definitely our favorite Garlic Shrimp. There are a few well known, trendy shrimp spots that just gets too busy and the food coming out is just very mediocre. Give this spot a try, you will not be disappointed.

Aoki's Shave Ice
66-082 Kamehameha Hwy, HaleiwaWe recently moved to the north shore and of course, tried Matsumotos. Then we discovered Aokis and will never go back! The shave ice is similarly priced and delicious and there's no line! The service is great as well. Our favorite are the shave ice shakes, especially the Blue Hawaiian.

I do wish that there was more seating with how busy they are & I wish they had bathrooms available to customers, but otherwise a super awesome spot!

Matsumoto Shave Ice
66-111 Kamehameha Hwy #605, HaleiwaI ordered a small shaved ice with lilikoi (passionfruit), guava, and condensed milk. The portion was huge—definitely big enough to share. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary if you’ve had shaved ice before, but it’s still worth trying if you’re in Haleiwa.
