Kaimana Shave Ice
66519 Kamehameha Hwy, HaleiwaI have lived 65 years in Hawaii and I find myself going to Haleiwa time and time again. While there I stop in the old marketplace and have a good meal in one of the half dozen lunchwagons and then I top it off with a delicious shave ice from the Kaimana Shave Ice Shop. Do your self a favor and do likewise. Incidentally, I favor the Big Wave shrimp wagon for it’s delightful offerings.

Surf N Salsa
66521 Kamehameha Hwy, HaleiwaSurf n Salsa on the North Shore is a solid stop when you want good food without a long wait if you plan it right. Parking is easy if you get there early which already puts you in a good mood before you even order. There is plenty of seating so it works well for families and groups without feeling cramped.
The food is genuinely delicious and worth the stop. We ordered a burrito a crispy taco carne asada fries a quesadilla and four drinks. Everything came out hot flavorful and satisfying with portions that felt right for sharing and mixing things up. The carne asada fries were especially hard to put down.
Prices are pretty normal for the North Shore meaning a little expensive but not shocking. For a family of four our total came out to $92.81 which felt fair for the quality and amount of food we got.
Surf n Salsa is a great option if you want tasty filling food plenty of space to sit and a relaxed North Shore vibe. Get there early park easily and enjoy a meal that actually delivers on flavor.

Teddy's Bigger Burgers
66-111 Kamehameha Hwy, HaleiwaI am a tourist here, but my sister who lives here recommended this place as a local favorite of theirs for a big family dinner on movie on the deck night. It did not disappoint. My burger was excelent. They asked how I wanted it cooked, and cooked it exactly how I wanted it. Patty was a nice big juicy one too. The onion rings were some of the best I have had in a very long time. My dad shared a few of his fries which were also great. Everything came hot and fresh out of the kitchen. No sad heat lamp food. I did not try one as I was driving, but my dad liked his happy hour Mai Tai so much he went back for another.
The staff was very friendly and happy to help us. Seemed to genuinely care that everyone got what they wanted to eat. They also came out and cleared away empty plates for us and made sure everyone was happy, even though I believe it is a bus your own table place. We happily stayed for the whole movie, enjoying the weather and family time in a great atmosphere.
I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes American burger shop type food.

Aoki's Shave Ice
66-082 Kamehameha Hwy, HaleiwaWe recently moved to the north shore and of course, tried Matsumotos. Then we discovered Aokis and will never go back! The shave ice is similarly priced and delicious and there's no line! The service is great as well. Our favorite are the shave ice shakes, especially the Blue Hawaiian.

I do wish that there was more seating with how busy they are & I wish they had bathrooms available to customers, but otherwise a super awesome spot!
