Calvin & Susie - Kailua
315 Uluniu St STE 105, KailuaMy pup is obsessed with the okinawan potato treats- they're good, a little spendy but when your pup lives something, how do you say no? There's a great assortment of local treats, aloha shirts and dresses as well as the basics. The people working there are nice and let you roam around without following you asking what you need, which I actually find uncomfortable since o like to read labels and think about what I want! Looking forward to more visits to try the rest of their treat line!

Arms of Aloha
970 N Kalaheo Ave #C-104, KailuaThank you so much Arms of Aloha❤️Dr. Naun and Colette are amazing people! They are so kind and compassionate. We are forever grateful for their services. We had to euthanize our cat Kiki yesterday, and we had the most beautiful experience. He passed away peacefully in my arms, & surrounded by love and nature. The euthanasia process was quick & painless. I am soo grateful he was able to pass at home peacefully. Having this at-home service really helps with the grief & the process of letting go of a pet. I highly recommend Arms of Aloha. The prices are very reasonable and honestly soo worth it! This is the best way to do it. Thank you again❤️ My family is so grateful to you guys for the hard work you do!! Aloha

Dr. Asato, DVM
420 Uluniu St, KailuaWe've taken our animals to Makai Animal clinic many times and they have always been great. Recently however when we had to put our elderly dog down, everyone there was extremely kind and caring as they comforted us in our time of sadness. The vet even gave us a later than usual appointment to accommodate us.

Alii Animal Kailua Clinic
201 Hamakua Dr #104, KailuaI've worked in the veterinary field since childhood, and have a very critical perspective when I'm evaluating clinics. I'm enjoying my relationship with Alii. The customer service staff are very personable, helpful, and straightforward. When you're on hold, you know why you're on hold, and you feel just as important as the client in front of the reception desk. They sound genuinely happy to be helping you.I haven't seen every veterinarian, but I can review the two I do know.Dr. Pratt is smart, empathetic, and gentle. She has a sincere personal investment in her work, and it shows. She's really good at navigating complicated care situations and expressing her recommendations respectfully. I trust her ethics. She's an excellent doctor.Dr. Pressler has a bubbly, uplifting demeanor, with an unbreakable spine underneath. She validates the human experience, bonds with you and your animal, and expresses that care by telling you what she knows, regardless of wether or not you want to hear it. She's reasonable, brilliant, and her ethics are stellar. She's well suited to her position as the medical director, and I appreciate that I am able to have such a passionate doctor caring for my cats. The Kailua office does not yet have exam rooms - limiting your options for how an exam is conducted. The majority of patients have an easier experience being examined without their parents present. The "back" isn't as windowless and intimidating as you would expect, when your pet is separated from you. It's a bright, sunny room to the side of the front office, and when the door opens, you can see and hear a team of happy people inside. Some animals don't tolerate separation well. Some clients think their animals don't tolerate separation well - when secretly, it is only the human that feels that way. I might be one of those clients. My cats might be fine without me. However, I respectfully communicated that the ideal exam experience for my animals includes me. We examined Mothball (my cat) in the front office together, with the front door locked to prevent accidents.A vet clinic is well within their rights to make the final decision about where, and how, a patient can be safely examined. An agitated animal can hurt people, itself, or escape. Allowing a client to participate in restraint for exams or treatments can constitute risk, and it is the clinic's obligation to prevent that risk. Do no harm, and all that. If the vet says you shouldn't help them poke your pet with a needle, they're right and they should say it.With that in mind, I really appreciate how comfortably I've been able to communicate with staff about this. Being able to negotiate the terms of engagement cooperatively makes me feel safe, I can tell they respect my judgement as much as they respect their own.Judge your veterinarian by the integrity of their communication with you.Alii doesn't make me feel like I can just drop my cat off and have all the work done for me, like a car at a mechanic. They make me feel like we're all on the same team. That's a green flag. The finances earn a star, too. The pricing is exceptionally reasonable, especially the exam. With an exam for less than fifty dollars, you can have a thorough conversation with a veterinarian who cares about the little details of your pet's health. That's a major deal. Don't be shocked if the prices go up in the future! The labwork and medications are well priced too. It seems like slightly less than industry standard for markups - they're not making a huge profit on figuring out whats wrong and fixing it. They must have a lot of happy customers if that's the case. Thanks for reading my little novel. Alii is like the hole in the wall restaurant with the best food. Its a little cramped, but all the occupants are smiling. If you want a fancier experience, or need an exam room setting, Kakaako isn't that far. Their other location is beautiful, but this one is my favourite.

KAI Animal Institute
267 S Kalaheo Ave, KailuaFor anyone who is looking for an integrative medicine practice for their four legged family members, I strongly recommend Dr. Levine and Julie and KAI Animal Institute.Stepping into KAI Animal Institute's studio, we were greeted with a calming and healing oasis that was thoughtfully designed for animals where Dr. Levine used various treatments like low level light laser therapy, rehab therapy, targeted pulse electromagnetic field therapy, and acupuncture for our dog’s pain. In addition, his wife, Julie, an animal behaviorist, performed harmonic therapy for our dog during the treatment which used sound healing powers to further help calm and treat our dog in addition to the acupuncture, etc. Soothing music was played in the background during the treatment session.During and after each session, we could see a change in our dog’s behavior and demeanor. She would smile and be so happy, excited to go to KAI Animal Institute’s healing oasis and see Dr. Levine and Julie. After a few treatments, she was able to stand for brief periods with assistance and continually kept trying to use her back legs on her own.We are so thankful, grateful and blessed to have met Dr. Levine and Julie and can’t recommend them enough for complementary care for animals dealing with pain or recovering from an injury or surgery.

The Cat's Meow Inn
408 Uluniu St, KailuaI heard about the Cat's Meow Inn from a super close friend of mine who knew the owners when they were still operating their cat cafe, it was gonna be the first time leaving my cat baby without any immediate family for a long period of time. I was super hesitant and scared to leave him alone but after just one phone call with Heather I knew my Mochi would be in absolute great hands. Heather is amazing at her job and she made the process super easy for a first timer like me!! I expressed all my concerns about my cats behavior and also things like being away from him for so long and Heather reassured me that he too would be getting the vacation he deserves at AN ALL CAT boarding with 24 hour care and company. She provided absolute comfort for my silly boy with his own personal lodging, mouse and lizard tv, and full time care all for just $25 a night. They even do pick up and drop offs free of charge and send pictures of your fur baby while on your trip for updates. I attached some of the images I received, she's so passionate about her job and these kitties and really does her best to ensure your cat is enjoying their stay a the four seasons for felines. I will definitely be contacting her again for mochi's next kitty vacation!!! Thank you so much again, you folks rock and deserve every single star when it comes to 5 star ratings!!! ❤️?

Canine Coach Hawaii
770 Keolu Dr, KailuaThis is a way over due review. So about a year ago we got a puppy and tried normal command training, BUT there wasn't any obedience there and it showed when is was time to go to work. That's when I learned that just because your dog can sit or lie down on command doesn't mean you are in control. I was missing big fundentals and so seeking out trainers I came across Canine coach. I've searched many other places and called and contacted many and decided this place. It's 1000% true when your dog is trained in a house is better then in a facility of farm or wherever they may go because for a dog it's a different environment then when they are at home with you. Miles did great with our Isabella and is always willing to help and follow up with us. I highly recommend him!

Hawaii Dog Training Services
111 Hekili St, KailuaDeena was referred by a trusted friend - she then became a trusted friend quickly when she demonstrated her knowledge, passion, and respect for her clients and their fur babies. She provided me with in-home private lessons for my 1 year old dog which shaped such fantastic behavior out of him with the skills she provided me with. She also provided tools, resources, and access to other opportunities like pack walks. After our home sessions had ended, I was still able to contact Deena with training related questions and she was more than happy to help. Now, my dog is three years old and experiencing some health concerns where vets have left me feeling confused on what is best for his wellbeing. After visiting four different vets, I gave Deena a call and I couldn’t be more grateful of the open arms she welcomed me with along with a wealth of resources. I am finally no longer feeling out of control over my dogs health and ready to help get him back on track. I should have started with her to begin with! If you are new to dog parenthood or seeking dog support for your older doggos - she is my go-to! Ps. She has a soft spot for senior pups.

Rise & Grind Coffee Bar
22 Oneawa St, KailuaMy wife and I are visiting Hawaii from Canada. We just completed the Kailua Pillbox hike and thought we deserved a coffee and pastry. The cafe is warm and inviting and the young lady working the coffee bar was very pleasant and welcoming. The blueberry scones were delicious and the cappuccinos were the best we’ve ever tasted in the USA. Wait. That makes me sound like a coffee snob. Let me change that to, “I have never enjoyed a coffee more in the States!”

Leilani's Island Tacos
118 Hekili St, KailuaWhen a place has a sign that says world famous tacos I don't even take it serious anymore, but if there is a world famous award this place deserves it. We really struggled to find their location, seemed post covid it wasn't regularly updated, on a whim found their location on Instagram at a distillery so we hustled over there. The shrimp and rice in the pineapple was beyond amazing, pretty sure I licked the fork when I ran out of shrimp. The Thai chicken tacos were very good as well but I'm not a sour cream fan so I had them without sour cream. Can't say enough great things about the food and service, just hard to find.
