Calvin & Susie - Kailua
315 Uluniu St STE 105, KailuaMy pup is obsessed with the okinawan potato treats- they're good, a little spendy but when your pup lives something, how do you say no? There's a great assortment of local treats, aloha shirts and dresses as well as the basics. The people working there are nice and let you roam around without following you asking what you need, which I actually find uncomfortable since o like to read labels and think about what I want! Looking forward to more visits to try the rest of their treat line!

Arms of Aloha
970 N Kalaheo Ave #C-104, KailuaI recently had to make the hard decision to let my cat of 17 years go. I'd heard good things about Arms of Aloha, and I'm glad I made the call. Dr. Carolyn Nuan came just in time to help send my boy off right when he needed it most. I'm glad I went with Arms of Aloha. Dr. Nuan came to my house, stepped me through the process, and provided a soft blanket for my cat to lay on so he could pass away on my lap. When he'd crossed over, Dr. Nuan provided a pet bed at the back of the Arms of Aloha van which really helped me through the process. The staff has been very communicative and supportive. I appreciate the follow up card, paper gifts, information, and support group resources. My boy came back to me about a week later, so it was a fairly quick turn around. Hopefully it'll be a long while before I need their service again, but I would definitely contact Arms of Aloha if I need to send another pet off.

Dr. Asato, DVM
420 Uluniu St, KailuaWe've taken our animals to Makai Animal clinic many times and they have always been great. Recently however when we had to put our elderly dog down, everyone there was extremely kind and caring as they comforted us in our time of sadness. The vet even gave us a later than usual appointment to accommodate us.

KAI Animal Institute
267 S Kalaheo Ave, KailuaFor anyone who is looking for an integrative medicine practice for their four legged family members, I strongly recommend Dr. Levine and Julie and KAI Animal Institute.Stepping into KAI Animal Institute's studio, we were greeted with a calming and healing oasis that was thoughtfully designed for animals where Dr. Levine used various treatments like low level light laser therapy, rehab therapy, targeted pulse electromagnetic field therapy, and acupuncture for our dog’s pain. In addition, his wife, Julie, an animal behaviorist, performed harmonic therapy for our dog during the treatment which used sound healing powers to further help calm and treat our dog in addition to the acupuncture, etc. Soothing music was played in the background during the treatment session.During and after each session, we could see a change in our dog’s behavior and demeanor. She would smile and be so happy, excited to go to KAI Animal Institute’s healing oasis and see Dr. Levine and Julie. After a few treatments, she was able to stand for brief periods with assistance and continually kept trying to use her back legs on her own.We are so thankful, grateful and blessed to have met Dr. Levine and Julie and can’t recommend them enough for complementary care for animals dealing with pain or recovering from an injury or surgery.

Alii Animal Kailua Clinic
201 Hamakua Dr #104, KailuaI rarely leave reviews but I had a great experience here today. My sick cat loved the employees who helped him out. They got us in for a same-day appointment and treated my kitty with love and care. I took this photo to show my boyfriend how much the cat enjoyed the vet but it made me laugh so I'll share here.

Kailua Pet Hospital
111 Hekili St STE 104, KailuaIm so glad I was able to get into this clinic the day I called!
Back story - I used to bring my old dog here years ago. When my family came back from Japan with a new dog, this office wasn’t open.
My dog was not acting like his usual self. His normal vet could not see him. I was told I needed to call around to other offices. I noticed Kailua Pet Hospital was open and decided to call. The gentleman who answered the phone at the front desk was so helpful and got me in within an hour. Dr. Thornburg was amazing and my dog felt comfortable with everyone in the office. It was decided that my dog more than likely injured his neck. We were sent home with meds that visit to help him feel more comfortable. Thank goodness he was able to be seen and the doctor figured it out, because he was in so much pain and the next day he was feeling so much better.
Thank you Kailua Pet Hospital! We’re glad to have you back.
Bonus… they give a military discount!

Pet Sitting & Training

The Cat's Meow Inn
408 Uluniu St, KailuaThe Catʻs Meow Inn was the best for boarding my furry child while I was on a trip. I would recommend it! Heather and her husband were great at communicating from start to finish. I received texts with updates on my entire trip. The pickup and drop-off service was convenient and made the whole process less stressful. Again, I am so grateful to this company!

Hawaii Dog Training Services
111 Hekili St, KailuaAfter using two trainers before finding deanna, I am eternally grateful for Hawai’i Dog training services. Deanna shifted the entire dynamic of my house. I’m someone who was willing to rescue and rehabilitate dogs at whatever cost, and Deanna saw and admired that in me, even if I am a “glutton for punishment” lol. She taught not only my three dogs, but me so much and offered more than I could’ve ever paid her for! I had a trainer tell me my dogs genetics were going to “haunt me for the rest of my life” and Deanna (who also has mutts) didn’t care about the shape, size, or behavior. She took them for who they were and made them the best that they could be (which they’re pretty dang awesome if you ask me). We owe deanna our entire life plus some. Nalo, Eva, and Remii gained an Auntie - and the Hensons gained a friend!

Canine Coach Hawaii
770 Keolu Dr, KailuaThis is a way over due review. So about a year ago we got a puppy and tried normal command training, BUT there wasn't any obedience there and it showed when is was time to go to work. That's when I learned that just because your dog can sit or lie down on command doesn't mean you are in control. I was missing big fundentals and so seeking out trainers I came across Canine coach. I've searched many other places and called and contacted many and decided this place. It's 1000% true when your dog is trained in a house is better then in a facility of farm or wherever they may go because for a dog it's a different environment then when they are at home with you. Miles did great with our Isabella and is always willing to help and follow up with us. I highly recommend him!

Dogtown Bakery
600 Kailua Rd #107, KailuaThis is my go-to place for dog treats and I stock up regularly each month. My dog loves the fish jerkies (mahi, ono, ahi) and also the beef (moo chews) and venison jerkies. Dog biscuits like the pumpkin, bacon and cheese and others are good too. They also have some fresh premade food (look in their freezer) and you can order doggie cakes and ice cream. They also have doggie donuts and bakery stuff. People are super nice. They have other things too like cute bandanas, collars, etc. Dogs are welcome too.

Moke's Bread & Breakfast
27 Hoolai St, KailuaStopped by after our hike up to the Pill Box and were ready for some good, hearty food. I ordered the Lilikoi pancakes which were delicious, and the sauce? So yum! My husband got the Loco Moco and he devoured the entire thing. Such a cute, quaint place. Tip, don't park in the parking lot across the street, park on the street or you will get towed! (We didn't, we parked on the street, they just let us know this little tidbit!)

K and K Bar B-Que Inn
130 Kailua Rd #102A, KailuaOMG...so yummy! Stopped in after hiking Koko Head, but before Kailua beach for some lunch and my teriyaki chicken plate lunch and husband charsui plate lunch was so good. They have an extensive menu of local favorites. Now let me be honest, K and K Bar-B-Que is tucked away in a little strip mall. The restaurant is tiny, and honestly not the cleanest either, but the food is delish! And I would be remiss by not adding how great the owner is. She's so sweet, and made sure our lunch came out fast.
