“This is the loveliest children's store we could have imagined. We travel frequently and are always in search of a toy store; Tildie's is our summer favorite, tucked away between shops it is a hidden gem. The selection of toys, stuffed animals and so much more was wonderfully curated and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. Thank you for saving us from Amazon: it was a memorable experience.”

“If you’re queer and love books, or if you want to read more queer literature, just go already. So many secondhand and new books available, plus a small secondhand clothing section too. It’s a *beautiful* space (2 floors), quiet and calm. The staff were friendly and helpful, and whoever picks the music got taste lol”

“This is a phenomenal second hand bookstore in Philadelphia. Not only is it in a great location on South Street, but it has a stellar selection of new and used books. Curtis, the owner, makes an effort to find and stock highly sought after and well kept editions. He's also a great conversationalist. I come for the books, but stay for the 30+ minute conversation. Great shop. Great owner. I couldn't recommend Neighborhood Books more.”

“Absolutely LOVE this little bookshop. It's so beautiful and colorful and warm inside. And Black-owned. They have an awesome selection of books by Black, BIPOC, and non-Black writers. Books on food, novels, memoirs and much more! They have a swanky used book section too downstairs. I also really appreciate how they tie up your books with a bow, like a gift. It feels special. It is special. Keep this energy.”

“Lovely place! Books of all sorts & even antique books. Reasonable prices. There's even a bookstore cat (Millie), & the person working the counter said we could stay as long as we needed even though we got there towards closing time. He was so nice & a humble guy. I bought two books, one from the 1800s. Great place!”

“Tree House Books is a *free* bookstore - but so much more as well. The books are free for the taking, but I'd hope that you'd leave a donation if you can.If you have books you'd like to donate for other readers to take up, keep this place in mind. That's how I found it - looking for a place to donate gently used books. I assumed (incorrectly) that they only needed children's and YA titles for the many kids involved in their out of school program. But in fact they also have books for adults. A true literacy center. So I'll be back with the many non-kid books I'm parting with.I wasn't taking on more books during my visit, I was getting rid of them. But glancing at the adult section shelves, I saw several of my favorite books there. The staff are friendly and welcoming. And after dropping off a box of kids' books, I received within 24 hours an email thank you, which noted the number of books I had given and suggested an estimated value per book - in case I might need some documentation for a tax deduction. That's wasn't my motivation, but it speaks well for the organization that they attend to thanking donors.Stopping in on a weekday afternoon, I found ample street parking available, and had a spot right in front of the store. Will be back!”

“Head House has been my go-to for books in Philly for years. They have an awesome selection in store and arranged in a really fun and intuitive way with staff picks that are actually interesting ☀️If they don’t have what you’re looking for in store they’re great about placing an order for you or their online ordering system is super easy to use! Orders come in fast and pickup from the staff is always lovely”

“My original comments from 2020 to early 2021 deleted.*** Update 1/27/2022 ***Over the past 9 months, Barnes & Noble has really bounced back from pandemic lows. Their magazine department now regularly Carrie’s most of the tech & electronic music magazines that I read. Matter of fact, all areas have improved considerably. They were a great source for jigsaw puzzles at Christmas time. I do wish their computer technical book section would expand to another set of shelves, however, they have continued to refresh the books on Python programming. It is a disservice to B&N for me to keep my original, somewhat pessimistic comments in place. So I am deleting them today.A belated welcome back to Barnes & Noble. Thanks for sticking with it and improving.”

“Our book club hosted our monthly get together at the shop and we had the BEST time! The owners made the space welcoming for our group, and we loved browsing the book selections and having a tarot card reading. The shop has a varied selection of books from many genres and we left with a few ideas for upcoming book clubs picks. Can't wait to go back!”

“love to come here for new books! I wish there was a map of the store. It was hard to find certain books but I’m still happy. Cafe was nice I got a really big sugar cookie and drink was good too! The line was little too long to make a membership but I will next time.”

“I had a wonderful experience buying an 120 year old book from PRBM! The book I wanted was being sold by Barnes & Noble for $30 but was in pretty poor condition with lots of water damage. I was able to find it being sold by PRBM for $35 in such perfect condition and they even offered me free shipping! The buying experience was so easy. Everyone I talked to from email to phone call, were extremely nice, friendly, and professional. With the book, they included a little slip with information about the books owner history and where it's been. So awesome! I will definitely be purchasing from them again.”
