Burnsville Veterinary Clinic
210 Burnsville School Rd, BurnsvilleWhen my dog came inside, she was shaking uncontrollably, she couldn't keep her balance, and was vomiting. Everything happened all at once and I rushed her to Burnsville veterinary clinic, to seek help. Thankfully, they were able to help by giving her fluids, and flush out whatever was causing her to get sick. They even gave me a estimate of how much it would cost to have her treated. They wanted to do blood work, and give her fluids, and do a few tests which would've cost about $300! I was tight on cash, and they offered just the fluids, which would cost me $30... Big difference in how much it would cost me out of pocket, to save my dogs life!I really think they should offer some type of payment plan or something. Not everyone has hundreds of dollars just sitting around. And so many of us are struggling to make it week to week.. a payment plan helps, even if it's $50 per week, it at least helps with the average person to have that flexibility, and actually pay it off. Just an idea to consider in the future to have.. I believe it would bring more customers, and more business in, and a higher chance of bills getting paid off.

Turn at the NAPA Sign and pull into the Car Crazy Car Wash, 652 W US Hwy 19 E, BurnsvilleGreat food truck!! The food was absolutely delicious. We stopped expecting just tacos, but the menu has a bunch of different foods. We did get tacos and they can out in a good time and where hot! The flavors were great! The green sauce is a mild spice and the habanero sauce is hot but the flavor is so good! We are excited to stop by again soon!

Snap Dragon
107 Town Square, BurnsvilleI find any excuse possible to eat here when I'm in Burnsville. The drinks, menu, and the walls/ whole place is superior to any place around here. Service is really good or really slow depending on how many people they have working, that's it's only fault I can come up with. Cool history of the name, also.I'm definitely trying the Category 5 next time, and I hope it's like the Lt. Dan vs the ocean hurricane scene.

Garden Deli
107 Town Square, BurnsvilleSaw this place after three hours on the road and glad we stopped. Sign was in a cutesy font that I read as Carson Daly, so I knew I was in for a treat. Solid food, a little on the higher price point, and coleslaw comes with everything if that's your thing. But so do pickle spears, so I can forgive that transgression. FYI Pepsi products (ew). Standard kids menu. Really cool patio with bramble and vine growing over a wooden shady pergola. Laid back patio and the weather was tip top. Ample, close parking right on the square. Waitresses look like they've been there since day one.Kid-friendliness: Gumball machines out the wazoo.

Bubba's Good Eats
394 E Main St, BurnsvilleAdmittedly, we only picked this place because our middle child has gone by Bubba since he was as tall as a fiddlehead, so we had tempered expectations. Was seated right away and were pretty much the only table in the place. The smell of fryer hung in the air like all the banners touting Cougar Heritage pride, so much so your clothes will smell like it afterwards. No frills flat top grill and fryer offerings, burgers, tenders, fries and rings. All fairly tasty and the kids approved of Cheerwine on tap. Big plus. Service was a little slow given the time of day and lack of customers, but again, the Cheerwine was flowing, so the kids were happy as clams. The dining room itself was kind of dark and again, fryer smell, plus the industrial catering wedding chairs weren't so comfy, but we weren't expecting Tavern on the Green. Fries and burgers disappeared into gullets without complaint. Inexplicably, there was a not even 10 year-old kid who appeared to be waiting a table. No kidding. Handling money and running drinks. I guess he could try that in a small town. My boy, the Bubba, even gave him a gumball for his trouble.Parking: Private lot with parking a'plenty.Kid-friendliness: They even let kids wait tables.

Yancey County Humane Society
211 Kind Hearts Way, BurnsvilleAdopting our dog from this shelter was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff took the needs of our household into consideration and were patient with us as we met and considered several dogs before finding our Cazador. The animals here are truly loved, as evidenced by how many staff came out to send Cazador off with kisses and best wishes for his future. They even showed us photos of his mother and siblings! And they answered our many questions and sent his upcoming medications home with us. We highly recommend adopting here and we plan to visit again with Cazador once he's fully settled in. UPDATE: Just another positive to note -- this place follows up with new dog parents a few days after the adoption to check in about any issues or needs and offer support/advice. Considerate and thorough!
