“We booked the Museum of Life and Science for our wedding and 10/10 would recommend! When we started planning our wedding, we knew that we wanted something a little more non-traditional. After touring the Museum of Life and Science, we knew it was the perfect fit.
We held our ceremony outside of the butterfly house, allowing guests to tour the butterfly house (and take a train ride) during cocktail hour, and we had our reception in the Aerospace exhibit.
We kept calling our wedding “an Introvert’s dream wedding” because of all the activities. What we didn’t realize was that all the activities gave people things to talk about the whole night through. So many of our wedding guests have raved about our wedding being the most fun wedding they’ve been to, and a great deal of that was due to how much fun the Museum of Life and Science is!
On the admin side, the Museum’s event coordinator, Rachel, was very friendly, positive, responsive, and accommodating. She helped a great deal with coordinating the set up of everything for our wedding in collaboration with our wedding planner, Events by Emily.
Originally, we had been worried that having to start our wedding after the Museum closed at 5pm (ceremony at 6:30pm) would not be enough time, but all things considered, the limited amount of time did not outweigh how amazing and unique our wedding was because of the Museum. Without a doubt, if we were to plan our wedding again, we would absolutely book the Museum of Life and Science!

“I love this store! It has unique gifts, fun Christmas ornaments and decorations, great socks for a cause, and lots of useful things. The best part is everything you buy is Fair Trade! I never leave empty handed, and I always eat, drink, give, or use whatever I purchased.”
“Kramden institute has stepped up their game. This new facility is larger, offers even more programs than before. I would recommend this training program for anyone who owns a computer. I'm 78 years old, and I relearned more in one training session than I had forgotten over thirty years. They even teach kids how to code. If, like me, you have those moments when you want to throw your laptop in the trash; give Kramden Institute a call. I promise you won't regret it.”

“Ms. Rosa's support has been invaluable in our search for a new home. I took the first time homebuyers course and was surprised at how thorough the content was. We eventually made an offer on a home, and had it not been for what I learned here, my anxiety would have gone through the roof (I'm an international transplant used to a more straightforward process). If your thinking about support when searching for a home, look no further. Their services are free of charge.”
“Donating platelets takes about two hours, Wonderful staff always makes the time fly by. They consistently strive to make you feel wanted and appreciated for volunteering. The Techs are all very personable and professional. And there’s free cookies n juice too?”

“What a wonderful environment for children to grow!! The staff are knowledgeable and have a genuine passion for working with young children. Both of my girls have flourished being "KIN Kids"!”
“Very friendly and helpful. Historic building. A resource for the community.Bricks used to build a Church were fired by brickmaker Richard Burton, Fitzgerald, and Robert G Fitzgerald. They have about 150 years of where, but the clay used is excellent and the bricks are well-made and you can see it the care and the competence in the state of the brick today.Historically important area of Durham with a vibrant future ahead. On Monday nights or maybe Wednesday evenings (I can’t remember exactly) they have African dance class for the community.”

“A good source for a variety of scraps and reclaimed craft supplies for upcycled creative projects. I look through all the fabric to find the deals on nice things. Most of the staff is friendly.”
“Great people. Richard is the best! He went out of his way to help me understand more about my bike and helped me take it home. Can’t recommend this place enough. Very affordable and totally worth stopping by if you’re interested in riding!”
“Awesome trail head for many different walking adventures along the river. Turtles, birds, snakes, lizards, common. Even some really big carp make an appearance from time to time.”

“Fantastic group of people who are there to help others. They treat the people staying there with dignity and do not discriminate against anyone. Thank you for hosting my family for over a month during our stay in the hospital.”
“This is an interesting artists space that has moved around within Durham a few times. Great place to see glass blowing, pottery making, weaving, printing, metal sculpting, and more. They offer classes and also have occasional open houses like their annual holiday market. We usually make it out at least once a year and have purchased cards and pottery from the artists. They are all very friendly and love to talk about their work. Check their website for their hours and/or events.”

“For me, this Y is a happy place. It is so convenient and it has all I need. I love the pool and I also like to workout in the gym upstairs. Everyone that works there, like Tony, is exceptionally nice.It can get crowded after work and can be tough to find the dumbbells you need. It's never a problem to get a cardio machine and the locker rooms are never too crowded. If the classroom studio is open, there are lots more dumbbells in the lighter range in there. I do wish they would have another dumbbell rack of the commonly used lighter weights (10, 15, 20lbs) in the main area.I gave four stars versus five to be clear that it is nothing fancy because I know some people will be looking for somewhere more sleek and shiny and new. I actually like that it feels more like a community center, which is sort of the idea of the Y, than some trendy gym. I grew up going to Ys and even worked at one for two years. I do hope they fix the pool hot water heater, though! Otherwise, it is way too cold for swimming in the coming winter months ”

“The best Y/gym I’ve ever been a member of. Friendly service, great amenities, clean. Rarely crowded. Wish I still lived nearby bc I’ve never been able to find one as nice as this.”
“We adopted a kitten two months ago and received great customer service and assistance throughout the entire process. There was a young lady who walked us through the shelter, answered questions, and helped us make the best choice. Our Petals is doing great!”
“My Name is Marvin Morris and I am the recipient of God's great love and mercy this Urban Ministries have been. It's save my life and giving me hope. All the staff and volunteers have been so helpful to my success. I am so overwhelmed with a heart full of love for all they have done and are doing. You truly don't get thanked enough. I am a former Green Beret in the Army. I was an 18 Delta and 18 Brovo. The security and staff are excellent and I want to help them and volunteer myself to help them in anyway I can. Thank you Owner who I look forward to meeting. I in Christ love you all so much!!! Keep up the great God's work here. ?Now if you're looking for an easy rd this is not for you. You will have to provide great efforts along with there aid to get you back on top of success. I adore this program and staff and leadership. This is a great outreach to our homeless and helping in the needs of our community..”

“Robert Medred wrote a review about a book, of which he didn’t even give the full title of, making it seems as if the book was misleading while also being very rude (calling people mentally challenged online where they can search up your name and find out where you work isn’t very bright).
“Immeasurable Weather” isn’t simply “Immeasurable Weather”, but is, in fact, “ Immeasurable Weather: Meteorological Data and Settler Colonialism from 1820 to Hurricane Sandy.”
Keywords being “settler colonialism” which doesn’t make this a simple “meteorology” book; subtitles are very important. One google search, bro. And hell, it says it on the cover of the damn book. From the get-go, you as a reader are told this is not just about weather…”
“I dropped off my trusty old Travelpro roller bag at this Goodwill on Garrett Road in southwest Durham. The bag itself was in excellent condition except for the wheels which were missing their "tires" and therefore, the bag was relatively loud and a little bumpy when rolled. Like other Goodwill stores, this one has a separate door for donations, separate from the main retail store front doors. Goodwill is a no-brainer for off-loading items that are still in good condition and usable. During my visit, the hours listed on the donation door were: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-8:30pm Saturday, 9:00am-6:00pm Sunday, 12:00pm-6:00pm The donation drop-off area at this Goodwill is a narrow hallway with bins. When I showed up around 4:30pm on a Sunday, this location was busy with both donation drop-offs and customers going to the store. A young couple ahead of me dropped off a bunch of textbooks. I didn't know Goodwill accepted textbooks. I learned something new. A lady rolled up behind me in a Tesla SUV with a trunkful of stuff to give away including a floor lamp. There was one employee working the donation area. It wasn't clear where exactly to place donation items. No signs/instructions or anything, at least not that I saw. It looked like everything was being placed in the bins. I asked the employee if I should place my bag in one of the bins and he took the bag from me. I thanked him. If my wife and I need to give away any usable items in the future, I'll definitely keep this Goodwill location in mind. This Goodwill location is part of the Goodwill Industries of Eastern NC ("GIENC") network. There are over 40 GIENC locations, from Hillsborough to Calabash. In addition to this Garrett Road location, Durham has two other GIENC stores at 5267 North Roxboro Road and 5200 Wake Forest Road.”

“The Durham Rescue Mission was a major piece in me turning my life around. When I checked into the Mission I was down and out. Easily the lowest point in my life. Because of the Mission I was able to sit still and build my life back together on a firm foundation. I am beyond grateful the Mission was there when I needed them most.”
“We love the JCC's Camp Shelanu. Our child is super picky about summer and school's out camps but the JCC staff and activities offered are far superior to other local Chapel Hill and Durham camps. My child learned to swim during summer camp here and quickly became a strong and avid swimmer thanks to the instructors. We will return over and over because my child is making friends, lifelong memories, and learning new skills in a diverse and inclusive environment.”
