My dog had a UTI while I was out of town and the manager took her to the vet for me ( on a Friday evening no less before the vet closed) and made sure she got the care she needed.

After countless visits to her original vet, many rounds of antibiotics, and even a biopsy, we still had no solution to the problem and my dog was getting depressed. I started looking for other options, and searching for a holistic veterinarian for Shelby.
After one visit to this wonderful establishment, I received a plan of action and path to healing. A simple switch in her diet, and herbal supplements/topical applications to her wounds brought her back to recovery. Her skin is closed up and her energy is soaring once again.
Not only is the doctor good at what she does, but she ministers kindness to both pet and owner.

He listened carefully to our concerns, gave us the facts and possible outcome, scheduled surgery promptly and helped us with her post op health care. His assistant, Heather and the front desk personnel were welcoming and supportive. This is by far the best doctor and clinic we have experienced in caring for our 12 year old pup.

Rates are definitely competitive and much cheaper than other places we've lived. We will forever be grateful for Dr. Mel and the team who helped us for what turned out to be the last two years with our beloved dog (bone cancer). Great vets are very hard to find and Dr. Mel is wonderful.

It was storming and she didn't have her assistant with her but she came and professionally got my mule stable to transport to a closer barn. She came back the next morning to xray and access him further unfortunately the outcome was not what I hoped for but she and Katie were Angles during this traumatic time. The entire staff is patient with my scared of her shadow dog and take the time to make her comfortable relaxed. I can’t say enough great things about Craven Animal Hospital. When my service dog Ranger started having stomach issues, their team went above and beyond to make sure he was taken care of quickly and compassionately.
A special thank-you to Clinton and the entire staff for being so kind, patient, and attentive during a stressful time. this was a Saturday and Clinton was so patient and walked me through my options.
The on-call doctor was incredibly responsive and thorough, taking the time to explain everything and make sure Ranger was comfortable and on the right path to feeling better.
It’s clear this clinic truly cares about both pets and their people. I’m grateful to have such a dedicated veterinary team here in New Bern. Highly recommend!

The Pet Hospital Of New Bern
1804 S Glenburnie Rd, New BernI had heard mixed reviews about prices and up selling attempts before making an appointment. That didn't happen.
Before our appointment, the office called our previous vet and got the records sent over.
When we arrived (very clean facility) we were taken back within 10 minutes of our appointment time.
I explained what we were visiting for and what we needed. The provider and tech were incredibly kind and gentle to my little buddy and we left with our bill under 300 dollars (office visit, blood work, medication). I think that is a very understandable price for what we received and, honestly, peace of mind knowing your little friend is healthy is always priceless.
Thank you to everyone at the office for a great stress free experience.

250 Zeb Rd, New BernI want to give a HUGE shout out and thank you to Anthony Abernathy at Weller Kennels. It was a big decision of where to send our babies for gun dog/ duck hunting training and we definitely made the best decision!
I was super nervous about the whole experience going into it, but the very first time we met Anthony, I knew they were going to be just fine and in the best hands.
Through our monthly trips there (we are from Maryland!) to check in on their progress, it was evident that these dogs love Anthony and he created such a strong bond with them from day one. Anthony was there to answer any questions and always made us feel confident and at ease. And the progress these dogs have made with him was absolutely incredible.
I could go on forever, but THANK YOU SO MUCH Anthony and everyone else at Weller Kennels who played a part in this journey. Our dogs are our family members and to be able to trust someone to keep their best interest and safety as the number one priority is a great feeling. Thank you again for everything!

1819 RaceTrack Rd, New BernWe take our 2 dogs here, sometimes weekly. The staff is very friendly, and they are reasonably priced (this price is going up in summer of '24 but still affordable, especially if you buy bulk packs).
I do like that they have cameras to see the dogs too.
Deducting 1 star as their weekend hours are not a real "daycare." We were informed that on weekends from like 10am-4pm there are no workers and the dogs are instead just in a kennel. Our previous daycares we used in NJ had normal daycare on the weekends where the dogs were out and playing.

I got the Nashville Hot Chicken Tacos and they were great. Just a little heat from the chicken and hot honey and the sweet potato fries came with this amazing brown sugar butter sauce. Definitely worth the stop.

904 Pollock St, New BernFreshwater was a fabulous taproom to hang out for an hour or so while I passed the time waiting to meet up with my friend in downtown. It was a super hot day and their AC was perhaps a little stressed but otherwise, it was quiet, it was comfortable and the wifi worked well.
I enjoyed a very cold pilsner from Nashville and it was perfect. A great little watering hole and as I was heading out, a food truck arrived and was setting up.

I wanted spicy (Chinese) and wife wanted hibachi (Japanese). She had the winning choice as her steak & shrimp was ample, tender and tasty. My Hunan Shrimp was underwhelming - not zippy at all and overload ratio of veg to shrimp seemed almost bland vegetarian. Fortunately the Gyozo steamed pork dumplings appetizer was delightfully sublime and we got a dozen for $7. The value was sound for the volume of the meals.....i just expected more from "Hunan" style in my dish. I'm sure we'll be back and I'll go Szechuan instead.
