“I’ve been going to Greg for framing for over 10 years. He has great prices and I know this because I shopped around at several frame stores (with coupons) before he was recommended to me. You’ll wait a minimum of two weeks, so get it in early if you have a deadline, but this is because he is in high demand! He has some really good recommendations for pulling colors and textures out of your picture. (Examples in photos). I usually like to go a little more artsy and use two frames or two mattes to really accent the piece! Highly recommend!”

“I've been hearing about this place for a while, so finally decided to check it out last weekend. It did not disappoint! It was a lot of fun going through the different rooms, and I love that a lot of the installations are interactive. It was a great sensory experience and a fantastic opportunity to let your inner child come out and play!”

“Best occult bookstore in the whole area. Expertly curated selection of books for serious practitioners. Beautiful Babalon altar as well. Looking forward to stopping by next time I'm in town.”

“I love how knowledgeable the staff are about the origins of their products. It adds a professionalism to the selling of oddities that makes it possible for everyday people to appreciate the interesting collections they have. Their jewelry selection is my favorite. Not cheap though, it will have to be a forever prized piece if you get jewelry from here. Also carnivorous plants!”

“I walk past this place weekly, but it looks like someone broke 3 of their windows on 3/2/24. Transients are getting brazen out here.Show your support by checking them out. They'll need it.”

“I ordered two frames plus the stretch for two 30”x40” oil paintings on Canvas. The framing was done exceptionally well. They are honest and tell you the estimate in non-rushed personal face-to-face meeting. They are a small business with personalized service. The best of all is that their price was lower than a competitor nearby. I will go their again for sure!”

“Latif is a fun and charismatic guy who knows his industry. He is fascinated by all of his pieces and willing to delve into the history and origins of each. My rug is still as clean, stain resistant, and beautiful as the day I purchased it over one year ago.I highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their space with some authentic and colorful North African flare.”

“I love this gallery. I always find just the right gift or something for myself. There are 25 different artists in the gallery and all different mediums. I have attended their first Thursdays and have met some the artists. It is a co-op so the artists work there too!. Great place if you are traveling a must stop.”

“I just love this little bookstore! Their space may be small, but their selection is *so* well-curated—I make a point to visit when I’m in the area and am always able to find something interesting. Highly recommended!”

“When this market "pops up" again next year, go! During the year this space serves as a studio for dozens and dozens of local artists. For one weekend in December, they open the doors for an a Open Studio Holiday Market. It's your chance to meet the artists, see all of the work and buy a fabulous piece to treasure! With art, it's all about the connection, the emotion, the memories that a piece conjures. While walking through the various studios, several pieces had an effect on me. The abstract nature scenes captured by Deanna Schuerbeke, for example. She was kind enough to let me take two water colors home so I could see them in my space. Abstracts, water colors, pottery, ceramics, textiles, jewelry - even local ciders and spirits! It was truly fabulous! I'm already looking forward to touring again next year. Until then, I made connections with a few artists whose works speak to me so I can make private appointments to see their art.”

“I remember Shogun's Gallery on NW 23rd. They relocated to a warehouse as the street gentrified - their old spot is a vacant lot. The original family who brought beautiful items from Japan have now largely passed the business to a younger person. I was strolling the neighborhood when a signboard announced an open day. Usually they are by appointment or voice call for entry. If you need their stuff, which you do, make an appointment or voice call for entry. They are on the 3rd floor of a clean warehouse with an elevator. They collect in Japan and ship their own containers. They have household ceramics, some tansu, some beautiful scroll landscape paintings, tools, tables, Japanese clothing, "go boards", sculptures, iron teapots, and more. Northern Japan is akin to Northwest USA and adjacent BC in climate and native culture. The native people in Japan are the Ainu and I visited their cultural center in Japan. Shogun's had on my visit collection of wood sculptures maybe 18-24" by 12" by 12" of bears catching salmon. It's in my pictures. Yes, Northern Japan has salmon! It is an Ainu native food. I have been known to haunt Japanese antique sales in Seattle. Some of the Shogun's items are very, very reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone interested in Japanese antiques, as seen by the photos, to visit by appointment and follow their announcements and other sales channels. The Northwest has a long relationship with Japan, Portland has a long and continuing relationship with Japan. If you want a little antique Japan in your living space or as a gift, Shogun's is a must-visit!”

“This is such a cute and quaint gallery that features all local artists. Artwork rotates monthly and they even teach classes for kids and adults! All experience levels are welcome and you sign up for classes on their website.”

“There are 2 locations on Alberta, so double check before you head out. We were looking for the show at the other location (on 11th?).Anyways, this location had a fabulous show, which I was a bit more partial to. We picked up a print from the show -AND- a print I'd only seen randomly on the Internet! The store guy (sorry I forgot your name) checked the other location for the piece my husband specifically came to find. Unfortunately, it had sold out.If you are a local artist, this is a beautiful space for a showing (giant courtyard). If you are looking for a fun art piece, this is a great starting point. If you are looking for a gift/card/special item, there are lots of local artists represented. I even saw Miffy the Bunny merch. I haven't seen any of her things in AGES!Excited to come back (and to the other location) next time we are in Portland.”

“If high-quality, beautiful framing to complement fine art prints is what you seek, this is the place to go.There are lots of handmade and unusual options, and it’s truly remarkable how the framing here can enhance an already beautiful piece of work. You may pay more here than elsewhere in town, but for fine art that really deserves the boutique treatment, Katayama is my go-to.”

“Staff here really knows their stuff - had a couple pictures re-matted with the frames preserved and another with an odd back set up for easier mounting. Suggestions they had were very helpful, and my job was completed quickly/at a reasonable price. Very satisfied with my experience.”

“The Guardino Gallery is one of the original galleries where Alberta got the Alberta Arts District from. This shop helped build Alberta Street to what it is today, and we thank you. This gallery incorporates multiple store fronts, has lots and lots of fantastic local art, which rotates about every month, so you keep going back to find that piece your house is missing. Keep a look out for one of their many openings where they showcase individual artists or show up for Last Thursday and see a collection by many, which is usually the case.”

“Beverly and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable about Pacific NW art and this gallery is a fun place to visit. If you want to learn about who all the important artists are in Oregon and Washington and also want to see a (non gallery like) huge collection of local art in all price ranges, this is the place to go!”

“Blind Insect Gallery is probably my second favorite gallery on Alberta, next to Alberta Street Gallery, hehe. Blind Insect Gallery usually has about 60 plus artists adorning the walls and shelfs. Every inch of the small storefront has something, and it is usually great to look at, from local artists with moderate prices to larger pieces that have a large price tag, but with 60+ artists and the price tags ranging you are sure to find the perfect gift or art piece for your desk or wall. This place is great. We love to shop here, and its nice to have such a great shop on Alberta.”

“This gallery is a breath of fresh air. Some of the artists were hanging out and they were so welcoming and made it a fun experience to browse all of the beautiful art. If you're looking for some accessible local art in a gallery that isn't stuffy, this is a good place to look.”

“A true gem of a shop full of folk art, unique vintage, and contemporary artists work you can’t find elsewhere. There’s a back story for every piece that the owner selects and it’s all so thoughtfully put together. Highly recommend?”

“Had no idea this existed until we randomly walked by it. Such a cool store! The books that the owner carefully selects are outstanding and space is fun. Highly recommend.”

“As an artist and designer myself I view galleries with a critical eye.I get tired of going into galleries and asking myself "why".I did not do this once at Laura Vincent's gallery. The workmanship was fine, the offerings complete and it was the best overall experience I've had in a gallery in a long time.In my opinion, the best art in Portland and well worth a visit.”

“Beautifully finished mixed use art gallery space. We saw an all ages show with a handful of artists. The humans that run the space are very kind, as well. It's located right in Kenton, so there are a lot of great food and drink options, starting a block away.”

“I love RH ! More so for the vibes and the magnanimity of the store -high ceiling , beautiful pieces , big staircase -I love everything about it . This one like most other 's is a multi level store with lots of furniture, accessories, lighting etc. The employees are friendly and greet you right at the door but not too overbearing .If I am browsing I let them know that but if I am looking for a specific piece of furniture I do let them know the details, so that they can help guide based on preferences . A lot of customization is offered and the wait times hopefully are not as bad as they were during covid . The membership is great because the prices do get discounted substantially. They use third party delivery services if you need it delivered to your house but it comes at an additional cost even if you are a member . I am a big fan of the chandeliers and light fixtures and even though they are pricey , I feel one can easily elevate any space with those . But having said that -its an Investment in itself . I wish they had the RH restaurant that they have in other cities because the patio up here is gorgeous .”

“Most times of the year, the studio has limited days and hours that are open to the public for shopping, but during the holidays, they are open Tuesdays through Sundays from 12PM-6PM. During the holiday season they are well stocked with wares from 11 ceramicists and 1 jeweler. We went the other day and Jan, one of the ceramic artists, showed us around a bit giving us info on the studio and artists -- she was absolutely lovely. Aubrey was also in the studio working and was nice enough to show us her workspace and spend a little time with us as well. Her recent pieces have bright glazes and lots of texture -- we're fans! This place is a great asset to the artistic community.”

“Seven days ago I ordered a cute, artsy coffee mug from their website. I received an email confirmation of purchase and then nothing. I called a couple days ago to find they had run my card. As of today there's still no notice of shipping or tracking or anything. They did let me know that it's shipping from the artist.EDIT TO ADD: It's been 10 days since my purchase and no mug/no email on shipment. I contacted the gallery again. It's the artist who's being a total flake. The gallery staff contacted the artist and let me know the mug will be shipping tomorrow. They also asked me to let them know when I received it. Even more, they offered me a discount on a future purchase. So, this went from a one star experience to a five star experience.”

“They did a very nice job remounting and replacing the broken glass on a framed photo, including offering to replace the glass for free with a remnant piece. It looks much better now! Note that the shop is closed from 11:45-1:00 for lunch every day. Please update your hours on the website.”
