“I’ve been coming to Fringe Salon since 2021 and can confidently say it’s the best place in Philly for curly hair! I’ve tried other places, and they are never as good as Fringe.
Most recently, I had a color service that didn’t turn out how I expected, and the owner personally stepped in to make it right - shoutout to Ehrin! She spent hours with me, completely professional, kind, and dedicated to making sure I left happy. I really appreciated the salon’s responsiveness and care. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for expert curly cuts!”

“Jeff is the MAN. I brought in a painting to be framed that I had remade for my girlfriend. After showing Jeff the reference photo, he identified the EXACT frame model in the photo, knew that it was discontinued, then steered me to a frame that was perfect. He identified hues in the frame’s pattern that matches the painting perfectly.

Not only will I use Jeff for all my custom framing/printing needs, I’ve been considering getting items reframed just to use Jeff’s services again. They’ve been in the neighborhood over 25 years, and it’s obvious why. Can’t recommend Millennium Gallery enough!”

“The owner is such a sweetheart. Very happy to see Art Star alive and kicking still after the Bourse was closed down. The shop has grown a lot since the move and it's nice to see all the beautiful, independent artwork displayed. Makes me happy to see so many creators being supported locally!”

“Let me tell you about FrameWorks Studio & Gallery. This frame shop is 100% not just for fancy pictures or collectible art or autographed jerseys. I am 100% not a fancy or rich person. I was referred to the shop by word-of-mouth. I personally have never had anything framed ever in my life.

I truly was blown away by my experience! I literally gave them a newspaper. And I received back a piece of art! The artistry and workmanship done by this business, Is second to none! I gave them no instruction on what I wanted or needed and yet somehow they completely brought to life what I had envisioned! Not only was I completely happy with the finished product, but the recipient was truly over the moon! I can honestly say it was by far her favorite Christmas gift she received this year! Even to the way that the picture is hand wrapped and expertly packaged! All of the hardware is already good to go on the back! This truly was a turn key operation for myself!

5 STARS”

“I think I looked at at least 40 artists before landing on Pete, and I got so lucky that he had an opening in only a few weeks. Pete took my idea and made it truly special. I honestly feel like I'm walking around with art on my arm. If I hadn't had to tap out (cause I'm a wimp), I know he would've done even more magic with it. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and inviting tattoo studio that does incredible work, look no further.”

“I was amazed by the enthusiasm of the owners. They carry original pieces, and even most expensive items are well worth the price. I am only interested in shops with a VISION, and anyone who is interested in character and personality must be a friend of this shop.”

“If you (wisely) plan to check out Partners an Son I recommend that you a) have gotten a good night's rest b) have a full belly c) are adequately caffeinated d) have sufficient funds e) have a friend on standby who can talk you out of spending your mortgage/rent money.

Seriously, though. This is probably the best indie comic store I have ever been to in my ancient, well-traveled life. The store is brimming with a wonderfully curated array of indie comics, graphic novels, zines, and art. Can't recommend enough.”

“Jim did a fantastic job hosting our nonprofit team during our team retreat! He recruited three other fantastic artisans to host ceramics and printmaking classes in addition to his glassblowing class. All of the instructors were friendly and patient. All materials were provided for us, and they're so kind as to mail our completed artwork to us individually after our retreat. I highly recommend Jim for nonprofit/corporate retreats!”

“Have been meaning to leave a review since this summer when Wendy’s frame shop expertly and affordably framed two pieces of art that we purchased on our honeymoon; a Portuguese tile and a small painting. We could not be happier with how both pieces turned out, and they perfectly complete our stair gallery wall! We went in with little direction or plan, and Nat helped us tremendously by giving us direction with our vision and creating a great plan. Both pieces turned out so perfect and better than I could’ve imagined! Highly recommend! Will be back in the future for sure.”

“This museum is free but need to make reservation online. It locates on two different floors 1st and 8th of the building. There are some very unique sounds in the background that created by some interesting devices on the wall. If you are in downtown area and have some time to kill, this would be a nice place to visit. Spent Total 1hour for my visit.”

“Rush Arts Philly opened in September 2016 with a show called “Power, Protest, and Resistance: The Art of Revolution”. Through works by dozens of artists—both Philadelphia and New York-based—the inaugural exhibition showcased the intersection of visual art and social action: art in the time of Occupy and the Black Lives Matter movement, art that both reflects and informs the ways that these different streams of protest, language and action are converging and building momentum towards, perhaps, some major cultural shift.”

“I took an oil painting class here and loved how this became my little oasis during the work week! Jo Gamel is uplifting, informative, and just a fun vibe to be around! I learned how to use new mediums, the science behind oil and acrylic paints, and brush structures. Would 100% take her class again”

“I miss going here. This place was my childhood, going there back when the old location was still opened. The atmosphere is always great for kids, especially during the summer. Unfortunately, as the years went on, it became a lot more adults, no longer being just for the kids. It went from a small and colorful establishment with a huge love of Puertorriqueno feels to a bland building that became more restrictive. From happy employees thinking of the kids first to employees just there to get small cash in their pockets. I still love this place, but I miss how it used to feel, especially now that I'm no longer a part of it. I don't get to see the old locations where I used to learn. Never lose your Puertorican joy

Kind regards, an old friend to lost memories
Thank you for teaching me to be proud of my culture ??”

“George's place is Antique hunter paradise!
It's tiny but his connection to French sources can yield amazing and unexpected finds. He was the first person I made friends with in the area and it has been a beautiful discovery. Now I try to stop by whenever I am in the area and I get excited with anticipation at the possibilities... Magic!”

“Elfie is an attentive, responsive landlord, and the studios are impeccably maintained and just such gorgeous, thoughtfully planned spaces. Plus, the building really takes you out of the hustle and bustle of the city, and finding parking is easy, which is a nice change. Love having our pottery studio here!”

“HOTBED is the best! We hosted our wedding reception here and we could not have asked for a better night. Our goal was to create an experience for our guests that they had never seen before and would never forget. This was the perfect place to make that happen.Anais & Orlando went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back for the upcoming shows. We're HOTBED lovers, for life.”

“We visited on a whim but ended up as one of our favorite stops during our stay. It showcased wonderful exhibits by Adi Sundoro and Mary Enoch Elizabeth Baxter. They both had smart and relevant social commentary. The museum shop had a great collection of coffee table books, art books and prints. The staff was friendly. Would recommend as a short but worthwhile visit.”

“This is a gem of a gallery that features an eclectic mix of pieces. It's run by a co-op and I love that the artists are often the ones working there. Everyone is always warm and welcoming and the pieces are interesting and well priced. They participate in the first Friday exhibitions too. Make it a point to stop by and specifically check out the pieces by Joe Klaus - stunning! I've got one of his originals in my home and highly recommend.”

“I would give this business 10 stars if I could.
I needed a gift for my wife’s birthday and stopped by clueless and in a rush, Mae was able to help me to find something for my wife and she absolutely loved it.
The place is an art gallery full of great art, Philly sports themed items, great selection of frames (the best I’ve seen in the City), etc.

Do yourself a favor and check this place out!”

“They’re very kind and helpful and they do fast and high quality work. I took two of my paintings not knowing much about framing and described what I like. They gave me great options that I loved and my frames were ready in less than a week.”
