Pet Grooming

Scavello Sisters Pet Supplies
Unit #6, 62 Franklin St, WesterlyI was thrilled with the grooming experience they provided for my Coton. The Coton de Tulear breed has hair that feels like cotton. I was nervous about having his hair trimmed & there isn't a groomer in the area that wanted to groom a Coton. I took him to the Scavello Sisters so they could see my pup. (I didn't call before just walking in). Linda took one look at him and exclaimed "A Coton!" I asked if they would groom him & they said no problem. When I picked him up after he was done I was amazed! He looked beautiful, like a show dog! I will be making appointments for my Coton with the Scavello Sisters for future, regular grooming needs. They listened to how I wanted him groomed, but I never expected the beautiful result! Looking for a competent groomer, I recommend the Scavello Sisters.

Westerly Animal Hospital
92 Franklin St, WesterlyDr. Brian, Deb, and Nixie all do such a great job at Westerly Animal Hospital. We’ve been going to them for 13 years and we are always treated like family. Because of their great work and care for their patients and their families - they’ve grown the practice to be so busy it’s almost hard to get in sometimes but they’ve always found a way to squeeze us in in case of an emergency or something serious. We are very grateful for all the time that the three of them have spent with our animals over the years whether it’s taking an extra few minutes or staying late just to put our minds at ease. We’ll never go anywhere else because they treat us like one of their own. Thank you Guys!!

Junk & Java
49 Beach St, WesterlyBest matcha in town!! The quality and taste of the matcha here is superb. This little cafe serves various pastries as well as your standard coffee and other tea drinks. They also have seasonal lemonades. I also tried their strawberry basil lemonade. The strawberry basil lemonade despite its name did not have any basil in it but instead had a little bit of mint. This might have been an oversight of the worker but I didn't mind. The staff here are very friendly and quick with making your drinks. The cafe is clean and well decorated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating here. The cafe is located in a little plaza with a parking lot but it can get full pretty quickly! The cafe is very popular and opens pretty early.

Graze Burgers
127 Granite St, WesterlyHad a good experience here. Ordered parm truffle fries with a bacon cheeseburger and also wanted to get a chicken sandwich for later so decided on the buffalo chicken sandwich
Fries were amazing. Lots of flavor on every fry. The bacon cheese burger was good but I wasn't blown away. Expected it to be a little bigger honestly. Had the chicken sandwich later and I will say it was probably one of the best buffalo chicken sandwiches I've had. Will definitely return ♥️

Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island
63 Canal St, WesterlyGrey Sail Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Westerly, Rhode Island in November 2011. It was founded by husband and wife Alan and Jennifer Brinton. A chemical engineer by day, Alan brewed at home at nights and on weekends. In 2009, Alan and his wife Jennifer started thinking seriously about opening a brewery. The couple located a circa 1920s building that had originally been the Westerly Macaroni Factory. They outfitted the building, hired a great staff, and were open by the end of 2011. The first beer they brewed was "Flagship Ale". Jennifer oversaw the brewery operation while Alan continued to work full-time as an engineer, all while they raised four children. The Brintons later purchased the historic Cataldo House next door. After a careful renovation, they opened this property as their taproom and outdoor beer garden in May 2016. The brewery also partnered with Vetrano's Restaurant to launch "Vetrano's Wood Fired": fresh wood-fired pizza prepared on-site at the beer garden. The original brewery building is now used exclusively for production, canning, and beer-to-go sales. In 2020, Grey Sail expanded by opening South County Distillers: a sister distillery located on the same property. I have been enjoying Grey Sail's beer since the earliest days of the brewery. I have also visited the brewery a number of times and enjoyed watching them expand over the years. I recently stopped there for lunch with my son while we happened to be passing through the area. After grabbing a table at the beer garden, I ordered a sampler flight at the taproom which consisted of "Hazy Day" (Belgian Wit), "Middle Child" (IPA), "Raspberry Reef" (Wheat Ale), and "Haze, Ho!" (New England IPA). The latter was my favorite. For food, my son and I ordered and shared a "Cheese Pizza" and a "Margherita" (fresh mozzarella, sauce, basil, parmesan cheese, EVOO) from Vetrano's. We really enjoyed the pizza! During our visit, my son and I also enjoyed a few games of corn hole. Between their eclectic beer selection, quality craft cocktails, delicious wood-fried pizza, and spacious taproom and beer garden, I highly recommend a visit to Grey Sail Brewing!

Koi Japanese Cuisine
65 High St, WesterlyDavid wanted sushi for his birthday so we all headed to Koi in downtown Westerly. We will add it to our list of great restaurants in the downtown area! We started with the pan fried dumplings which were very good and Don had the hibachi which he said was delicious - even without the fan fare at the hibachi table (there isn't one). I had a lunch bento box with chicken teriyaki and sushi that came with a salad. I'm glas I don't have to choose between sushi and something else!! There was also the sushi and sashimi lunch which was enormous and delicious and a sampler of sushi rolls. The girls even liked their nuggets and French fries (so did the rest of us - they were good!). Add to that both attentive service and nice booths and it's a win all around!

Longo Ristorante & Pizzeria
84 High St, WesterlyWe had a reservation and arrived early. We were seated right away. Our server, Alex was friendly, and polite. We had only a fork to eat our appetizer. We were ok without a knife but would preferred one. When our entree was cleared our forks were taken away, when dessert arrived we had no forks, ,had to ask for them. My wife's hot tea was served after we finished our dessert. She was not asked how she takes her tea and had no spoon. Our food was delicious. We started with the meatball salad. Best meatballs outside of my wife's. I had a Longo pizza. It was excellent. My wife had chicken parmigiana. She said the chicken was tender and the sauce tasty. We will return next time we visit Waverly.

Supreme Restaurant & Bar
157 Granite St, WesterlyMy girlfriend had been telling me I had to try this pizza for months and we finally visited ?
Ordered bruschetta, mussels, and mozzarella sticks. Usually don't see bruschetta at a ton of places so had to order some. Loved it and it reminded me of what my family used to make
We followed up with a cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Pizza was very good and would definitely stop in again to try the Philly cheese steak pizza or a calzone.

The Restaurant at Weekapaug Inn
25 Spray Rock Rd, WesterlyThe service was lovely. The menu seemed limited, ony 2 fish dishes nd we cannot eat red meat. The salad was fresh and creative but the main courses (one of each of the fish offerings) was just ok, There are limited choices for restaurants after Labor Day in this area but the food should be up to the standards of the rest of the Inn, which are over the to wonderful.

Westerly Animal Shelter
33 Larry Hirsch Ln, WesterlyAbsolutely amazing experience. We adopted a shy yet incredibly sweet dog about a month ago, and the process was amazing. They took amazing care of her to help bring her out of her shell, ensured her clean bill of health, and even gave her a bath when we decided to bring her home. River was found abandoned and terrified on a little island in the Pawcatuck River, and was rescued with great care by the animal control officer Art. Her timidness went away when she was around both him and Nikea, showing the great love and care shown to every animal in need at the shelter. Nikea was patient yet hopeful throughout our decision process, from when we initially met River to when we brought our senior dog Lucy to meet her. The excitement at the shelter as a whole when we ultimately decided to adopt her was visible and heartwarming. River came out of her shell the second we came home thanks to Lucy, and ever since she has been a sweet, goofy and energetic part of our family. Sadly, Lucy passed a week after bringing River home, and when the shelter was informed we recieved heartfelt condolences from Nikea as well as a card in the mail expressing the same sentiment from the shelter. Despite Lucy having never been housed at the shelter or cared for by its staff, they took great care to comfort us in our loss. The animals at Westerly Animal Shelter are incredibly fortunate to have these amazing officers and volunteers caring for them and ensuring they are ready to go to the homes they ultimately deserve. From the tiniest elderly guinea pig to the biggest, fluffiest great pyrenees, I'm not sure these animals could ask for a better place to guide them to their forever homes.

Dee's Goldens
6 Laurel Ave, WesterlyOur golden from Dee's turned out to be the best companion we could have ever asked for. He was very handsome and had the greatest disposition you could want in a dog. Everyone who knew him fell in love with him! Dorene, the owner of Dee's, was very informative from the beginning of the process and was available consistently through Jackson's life. Over the course of nearly nine years, we contacted her with questions ranging from diet, to grooming, to supplements, and she would always respond quickly, giving us guidance and helpful information. She even came to our house in North Kingstown once to help us do some obedience training. We appreciate all that she did for us. We cannot recommend her highly enough.
