Paty's Pet Grooming Shoppe
816C Main St, SchertzI have been bringing my dog Luke to Paty’s Grooming Shoppe for many years. Paty is absolutely wonderful with him. She is very kind and gentle while grooming him. I love that it is a small place because there is less commotion going on and there is more 1:1 attention. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Pet Care

Friendship Pet Hospital
17244 I 35 N Frontage Rd #7, Schertzwe take all our pets here and they never disappoint. i wouldn’t trust by babies with anyone else. they are extremely kind and personable, and you can so clearly see how much they truly love their jobs. they do so much to ensure you and your pet are both as comfortable as possible, and i’ve never had a bad interaction. in 2020, we had to put our dog down- but due to the pandemic they did not allow people inside. however, they let us in to say goodbye to him anyway, and i was so grateful. they truly do amazing work, if you’re looking for a vet, please go here!

Schertz Animal Hospital
1350 Farm-To-Market Rd 78, SchertzI was 10 minutes late to the appointment, and still hardly had any wait. My dog needed his internal anal glands extracted and a bordetella shot. Everyone was very friendly. They even gave him his dose of Bracecto for me because I always have difficulty giving him pills. I've been bringing my dog here for at least seven years. They're always friendly and understanding and you can tell they enjoy working with animals.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Willie's Grill & Icehouse
18210 I-35 N, SchertzIf you’re looking for a place that captures the laid-back spirit of South Texas dining while still delivering consistently satisfying comfort food, Willie’s Grill & Icehouse near Cibolo is a strong contender. This spot blends the feel of a traditional Texas icehouse with the convenience of a modern, family-friendly restaurant, creating an experience that feels casual, lively, and unmistakably local.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the tone. Willie’s leans heavily into that open, relaxed icehouse vibe—garage-style doors, plenty of TVs, and a buzzing crowd that ranges from families with kids to groups of friends catching a game. It’s the kind of place where you can show up in jeans and a T-shirt and feel completely at home. The indoor-outdoor flow, along with the patio seating, adds to the charm and makes it especially enjoyable during those warm Texas evenings.
The ordering system is a bit different from traditional sit-down restaurants, and that’s something worth noting. Guests typically order at the counter first, then find a seat while food is brought out later. This hybrid of fast-casual and full-service dining can feel slightly confusing at first, but it generally keeps things moving and contributes to a more relaxed, low-pressure dining experience. That said, service can be a mixed bag—while many guests praise the staff for being friendly and attentive, others have reported occasional hiccups like longer wait times or miscommunication with orders.
When it comes to the food, Willie’s really shines in delivering classic Texas comfort fare. The menu is broad, featuring everything from burgers and sandwiches to seafood and Southern staples. Favorites tend to include the hand-breaded onion rings, chicken fried steak, and catfish baskets, all of which lean into that hearty, indulgent style people expect from a place like this. Burgers are especially noteworthy—thick, flavorful, and cooked to satisfy that “Texas-sized” expectation.
Seafood options, including shrimp and crawfish (when in season), also get a lot of attention. While not necessarily gourmet, the quality is solid for the price point, and portions are generous. The kitchen’s “scratch-made” approach gives the food a fresher feel than typical chain-style restaurants, even though the menu remains firmly rooted in familiar, crowd-pleasing territory.
Drinks are another highlight. True to its “Icehouse” name, the restaurant offers a wide selection of ice-cold beers, frozen margaritas, and cocktails. The bar area is lively, and the drink menu pairs perfectly with the overall atmosphere—easygoing, social, and just a little bit festive.
One of Willie’s biggest strengths is its versatility. It works just as well for a casual family dinner as it does for watching a game with friends or grabbing drinks after work. The environment is loud enough to feel energetic but not so overwhelming that you can’t hold a conversation. Add in features like outdoor seating and plenty of TVs, and it becomes clear why it’s a go-to spot for groups.
That said, it’s not without its drawbacks. The semi-self-service ordering system can feel inconsistent, especially for first-time visitors. During peak hours, lines at the counter and slower ticket times can take away from the experience. And while the food is consistently good, it doesn’t necessarily push any culinary boundaries—it’s comfort food done well, not reinvented.
Overall, Willie’s Grill & Icehouse in the Cibolo/Schertz area delivers exactly what it promises: a relaxed Texas icehouse experience with hearty food, cold drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. It may not be the place you go for a refined dining experience, but if you’re craving generous portions, a fun environment, and classic Southern flavors, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Einstein Bros. Bagels
17331 I-35 N #106, SchertzI was looking for something else to eat besides my usual breakfast tacos. I went in the morning and dined in. It was my first time going to Einstein Bros Bagel and trying their food. I was greeted by their friendly staff. I notice that most customers were there to pick up their orders placed on the app. They had a pick-up order section on the counter. I ordered a Decaf Coffee and a Bacon, Avocado & Tomato Egg white sandwich. It had a Roasted tomato spread. The bagel was lightly toasted and chewy generously spread with enough avocado. It was delicious. I had a good experience and will be back soon.

A Chicago Bite
820 Main St, SchertzMy family finally checked out this place and I'm not sure why we haven't until now!! Staff was all incredibly nice. Very clean restaurant. Prices were good. Everything we had was delicious and made to order. You can tell that love and care were put into everything we got, something I definitely appreciate. I had catfish and fries, it was perfect and definitely satisfied my craving that day. My husband had a Chicago dog and it looked amazing, he enjoyed it. One kid had a gyro and wow, it looked great. She wouldn't let me try it lol. The other kid had kid chicken tenders. They were not your typical frozen nuggets y'all, they were fresh fried chicken and she loved them (picky kid). We will be back. I can't wait to try everything else. Maybe next time I'll remember to get pictures but trust me, give them a visit.

The Purple Pig BBQ
537 Main St, SchertzPurple Pig catered our wedding rehearsal dinner on 04/17/2026! We had chopped and sliced brisket and smoked turkey with baked beans and potato salad along with their 3 different BBQ sauces. Our family and guests LOVED the food! Wedding planning feels like bleeding money left and right, so I was so pleased when I received the quote from them for 60 people and it was very reasonable! Cherise was great to work with and provided helpful suggestions in making sure we had enough food for everyone. My husband and I ate at the restaurant a couple of weeks before the wedding and loved our meal! It made us so excited to serve it at our rehearsal dinner!
