But since moving to Tacoma, I’ve noticed that none of the Safeway gas pumps here allow customers to redeem their points at the pump—you have to go inside and ask the cashier. It’s inconvenient, especially when other locations I’ve lived in, like Bellevue and Bothell, have fully functioning systems that let you redeem points directly at the pump. This might seem like a small issue, but it adds up—and it feels like another example of how Tacoma, a lower-income and more diverse city, is often overlooked when it comes to basic upkeep and customer experience. Why is this acceptable here, but not in wealthier, whiter neighborhoods? It’s not a good look. I’m asking Safeway to address this directly and bring Tacoma locations up to the same standard. Tacoma deserves better.”
