Cayucos Sausage Co
12 N Ocean Ave #121, CayucosI bought both the linguica and the chicken Italian sausages and they were both great. I actually liked the Italian better. It was very fresh and had a fantastic flavor to it. It’s hard to explain but there was no preservative taste…just exceptional ingredients. I grilled them on my Weber BBQ over some hardwood charcoal. Perfect.

Bijou Bakery
149 Cayucos Dr, CayucosAs soon as I saw the bakery from across the street I knew that I would need to order something, and looking back, boy am I glad I did. The almond croissant I ordered was fantastic. It was deliciously crunchy and buttery with a creamy, almondy filling that was quite satisfying to eat. While the croissant was incredibly enjoyable, the drink I ordered was the item that made my day and the true star of the show. A large steamed milk with a couple pumps of their housemade ‘banana bread syrup’ was the perfect remedy for a cold, grey day. The flavor and warmth that came from the drink elevated my mood, and to top it all off, the service I received was next level. Thank you for the wonderful experience, the next time I am in town again I will be sure to stop by!

Lunada Garden Bistro - Cayucos, CA
78 N Ocean Ave, CayucosVery lovely atmosphere. Food is good but wish there were healthier options, such as no deep frying of potatoes. Lobster rolls were delicious but only 2 and smallish and again deep fried. Service was a bit slow at times, and parking was difficult due to event that weekend. Overall would recommend.

Sea Shanty
296 S Ocean Ave, CayucosOur first time here, late afternoon. It was for “linner” (think brunch, but for lunch/dinner). The place was pretty empty, and we had heard good things about it during our past visits to Cayucos.
It’s a very laid back casual beach joint. Growing up on the coast, I’m drawn to these types of places. I was greeted quickly and shown to the patio area where we could have our pup join us.
Initial service was good. I didn’t catch his name, but a young blonde/brown haired guy. He took our orders, yet never seemed thrilled or interested we were there. He brought me the wrong beer. He offered to exchange it, but I live by the creed that no opened good beer goes wasted, and said I’d keep it but for my second one I wanted a Coors Banquet.
We ordered two different types of hamburgers. My wife had onion rings and I had the thin fries. Both sides were tasty. The burgers were prepared well. I’ve been involved in the FnB industry for a while and realize that commercial food often comes from just a handful of sources. I could probably correctly guess which supplier some of the ingredients came from. I enjoy seeing how each establishment takes those ingredients and tweaks it for their own use. The results were overall good.
We really didn’t see our server much after the food arrived. I was eating slowly and finishing my beer so I order the one I originally wanted. Another server eventually came by and already knew what I originally wanted, and got it for me. Kudos to him.
We ordered desert to go, and server number 1 retrieved it. Again, pretty emotionless.
Later back at our place, it was dessert time. We both picked boysenberry pies with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was delicious. The pie had issues. My wife took a couple bites and said no more.
I think the pie probably started good, but something happened along the way to the table. The serving size was fine, and it had good chunks of boysenberries. It wasn’t real sweet, which I’m fine with due to the accompanying ice cream. But something else was off. I don’t know their storage areas, but it was almost like the pie had been stored with something that had a strong aroma and the pie picked that up. It may have been at the restaurant, or even before it arrived there if it was sourced elsewhere.
So, it was a good experience, not a great one, yet we will try it again on our next visit here. I recommend others trying it.

Cayucos Candy Counter
75 Cayucos Dr, CayucosFantastic spot to stop in for a sweet treat. Classic ice cream flavors, with a delightful rotation of gelato & sorbets! You can’t go wrong with any of their novelty candies, but I would especially recommend the chocolates in the back. (If I remember correctly they were locally made in California!)
