Pet Grooming

All Paws Dog and Cat Grooming
960 Main St, Morro BayWe take our dog here and have been doing so for years, staff is very hospitable and nice. The services offered for the notedly reasonable price are very extensive in my opinion. The grooming we get for our (admittedly low maintenance) medium-sized short haired mix-breed dog includes EVERYTHING: ears, teeth, nails, coat, a doggie facial, a festive bandana, and they even do anal glands included in the price(!). They are booked up many months in advance and I recommend you enquire early and see if they are excepting new clients currently and make sure to schedule an appointment but they've been accommodating to us in the past about an quick appointment or an unscheduled visit. Different dogs with different needs cost more or less depending, so as they say ymmv (your mileage may vary) but we've been to multiple groomers on the central coast and All Paws is without question the best priced and easiest we've dealt with.

All About Dogs
2233 Los Osos Valley Rd, San Luis ObispoAshley is the only person I trust with my dog. She not only is a wonderful communicator regarding appointments and pickup, but also with LISTENING to what cut/style we want as well as giving advice to what might look or be better for the season. I have tried nearly every groomer in a 40 mile radius and All About Dogs is the only one who gets it right every single time.

Pampered Paws MOBILE dog grooming
1696 7th St, San Luis ObispoLove this groomer. My dog is an anxious pup so she works with him fast but gives him a proper grooming every time. She chooses to not groom doodles which is totally understandable cause their coats are a bit more complicated. My pup is spaniel mix and he is happy enough with it. Keeps the foxtails and everything at bay.

Doggie Salon & Spa
2252 Broad St Ste 120, San Luis ObispoIf you have a giant breed, you know how difficult it is to find a groomer who isn't intimidated by size. We travel an hour each way just to see Stephanie, and it is worth every mile. We have a 120lb Bernese Mountain Dog, and finding a salon that actually knows how to handle and groom a dog of that size is rare.
This was our third visit, and I’m long overdue in sharing how incredible they are. Stephanie consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty. She doesn't just make him look amazing; she genuinely cares about his well-being, pointing out health details like hot spots that we need to keep an eye on. I cannot recommend this salon highly enough for their skill, patience, and attention to detail.

Stenner Creek Animal Hospital
191 Santa Rosa St, San Luis ObispoIt has been one year since our visit to Steener Creek animal Hospital, and we couldn’t be happier with both the care we received and the results of our dog’s ear cropping. The ears have healed beautifully, and we are extremely pleased with the outcome. The service we experienced as patients was excellent from start to finish. We truly appreciate the team’s professionalism and care.
We’ve included some updated photos to share how great everything looks now.

Pet Sitting & Training

DognPooch.com
893 Marsh St, San Luis ObispoOur six year old Great Pyrenees spent a week training with Mark. He sent several narrated videos each day as he was walking her, mostly off leash, explaining what he was doing and why. We especially got a kick out of seeing her go shopping with him at Home Depot. When we went to pick her up, Mark took us to a park where we walked Ophelia off leash, something we would never have dreamed possible. Since we have been home, Ophelia has been a model dog, calm, rarely barking (which is amazing) and coming when called (also amazing). We are committed to sticking with the training program Mark taught us, walking her off-leash to build trust, practice recall, and allow her to make good decisions. We are excited for what the future holds.

Happy Tails Kennel
415 Prado Rd, San Luis ObispoWe are consistently impressed with the quality of care at Happy Tails! Been taking our dogs and cat here over the past 5 years. Their customer service via text is the best with a fast response and easy while I am busy with other life things. Baths are great on pick up day too with an extra fee. Do make sure you are up to date on vaccines and handle your stuff before boarding. They hold me accountable and I respect their policy. The animals are familiar and noticeably more relaxed here. They listen to any special needs I have and greet our animals. They get time to play and be out of their nighttime areas with clean and friendly environments that feel home like. I have tried other places and drive farther for this kind of support.

Dogtastic Training
893 Marsh St Box 1192, San Luis ObispoMy Whippet/Pit mix is a sweet and responsive girl. With her desire to please me, we did great together with positive reinforcement training, however everything literally went out the door as soon as she knew she was going outside. Her prey drive is off the charts and was unmanageable on walks - to the point of being dangerous for both her and me. I contacted Mark to work with us to manage her prey drive, even with my initial reluctance to use an e-collar. We discussed his methods at length and he let me experience the e-collar for myself. After a week of working with Mark, I now have new capabilities to walk and go on adventures with my dog safety - and we can enjoy ourselves. Now that Mark has worked with her, the rest is up to me to maintain what she has learned. This ended up being a successful way to go, given her challenges. And I'm grateful. One thing that impressed me right away about Mark is that he took the first day with my dog to orient her to her new environment and spent time bonding with her. Each day of her training, he sent videos of where he took her, what training he was engaged in with her and how she was doing - multiple times a day, keeping me informed. Any questions I had, he responded to immediately. Finally, I was given training on the techniques and tools so I am able to maintain and continue her training. She has responded very well to Mark and his training process! In fact, I think she fell in love with him :-) I have no hesitations to continue working with Mark if any further support is needed.

There Does Not Exist
4070 Earthwood Ln Suite 110, San Luis ObispoI have not been to their brewery yet, but I enjoyed their epic beer @ Pier 46 Seafood Co in Templeton. I reached out to the brewery with a question and they got right back to me. Can't wait to have a chance to enjoy this place!

Oak and Otter Brewing Co.
181 Tank Farm Rd #110, San Luis ObispoOak & Otter is the kind of brewery that reminds you how much great beer exists beyond the endless parade of hazy IPAs. While they make excellent traditional IPAs and wit beers, where they truly shine is in the styles that too often get overlooked today: English ales, bitters, brown ales, porters, and stouts.
Their bitter and brown ale were absolutely outstanding. Oak & Otter seems to have unlocked the secret to brewing these classic English-inspired styles with the balance, complexity, and drinkability that made them legendary in the first place. Every beer feels intentional and well-crafted.
Part of why I appreciate this brewery so much is that it reminds me of Yorkshire Brewing in Torrance, California. Yorkshire produced some fantastic cask ales and traditional English beers, but sadly it didn't survive after COVID. It was one of those breweries whose craftsmanship wasn't fully appreciated in a market obsessed with having five different IPAs and five different hazy IPAs on tap. Oak & Otter carries that torch and proves that there are still brewers dedicated to these classic styles.
One of the best things about Oak & Otter is the variety of its beer lineup. The menu spans the entire color spectrum, from crisp cream ales to dark lagers, porters, and rich stouts. Every beer I tried was flavorful, balanced, and brewed with skill.
The brewery itself is equally inviting. The tasting room has a small, intimate English pub feel, with the brewing equipment visible in the back, giving the place an authentic working-brewery atmosphere. The food selection is solid, the patio seating is excellent, and the bathrooms are clean and well-maintained—a small detail that says a lot about how the place is run.
Parking is limited but manageable, and there is additional street parking nearby. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming, something that can be surprisingly hard to find at many breweries around Los Angeles. The crowd reflects the quality of the beer: good people who appreciate good brewing.
Oak & Otter is also dog-friendly, regularly hosts live music, and has plenty of TVs for catching sports or the news while enjoying a pint.
If you're tired of breweries chasing trends and want to experience expertly brewed beers that celebrate the depth and tradition of the craft, Oak & Otter is a must-visit. It's one of the few places keeping the spirit of great English-style brewing alive, and it's doing an exceptional job.

Ziggy's
594 California Blvd, San Luis ObispoA MUST TRY!!!
I had the crunch wrap supreme and ratchet fries topped off with the peanut butter cup blast for desert.
I’ve eaten at vegan restaurants all over the country and all over the world and this is one of the best meals that I’ve ever had in my life.
Definitely will be making a pitstop here every single time I’m rolling through San Luis Obispo. Supposedly they have other locations and will be merging the company with their other company and renaming it Sylvester’s. If you want some of the best vegan food you’ve ever had, you have to make this place a priority!!
On top of that, I hate saying it, but Vegan joints usually have lackluster service and long wait times. Not here, Miguel and Alan had white glove service and were super attentive. Chef Javier did a fantastic job putting the meal together in a timely manner. Super impressed with this place and can’t believe I’ve never tried it before.
Dear owner: please bring one of these to the Bay Area! You’d kill it in Santa Cruz!
