Cal State Dog Supplies
20504 E Arrow Hwy, CovinaI can’t say enough about Cal State Dog supplies. I took my 3 year old pit bull who has not gone to many groomers due to their fear of his breed. From the first call with Danny where he shared with me how they treat dogs coming in regardless of breed. He provided me with step by step of what to expect for my dog getting groomed. There no Harm approach put ease to my mind and helped me feel like for once I found someone who would care for him in the way that he should be. Danny called me to give me updates on my pup and tell me how well he did and validated that he was not in fact aggressive as others have made him out to be. It was an emotional experience for me. I recommend Cal state dog supplies to all. Thank you again for your care for me and my pup, Gunner

PAWsitive Pet Grooming
984 E Badillo St # A, CovinaNAIL CUTTING: Thank you! Just brought in my elderly female cat of 18 years. She had a nail that was growing down into her paw and I wasn't sure how to cut it myself. It didn't puncture the paw so Lina was able to cut it. Only $12 for nail cutting and super quick. I might just start bringing in my cats for a quick nail cutting from now on instead of doing it myself all the time. I didn't think it'd be affordable, but $12 is perfect for me.
BATHING: I asked about bathing my fat boy cat; but this grooming place requires a rabies shot certification for bathing. I might go ahead and get one for him. He's heavy and starting to become too much for my arthritis.
Note: Nail cutting only are walk-in available. Bathing, you need to schedule.

XoloDoggie Pet Grooming
1461 Hollenbeck Ave, CovinaAccording to our previous groomer, my dog was a horror, and they refused to accept her anymore. We came to XoloDoggie and they knew how to work with her and calm her anxiety. They got her all cleaned up and trimmed. We definitely found our future groomer at XoloDoggie.

Dog on Fun
642 E Edna Pl, CovinaOur reactive pup Otis has been thru a 3 week board and train last year and it was not a good experience at ALL , I was recommended to Ian and Dog on Fun by someone on the Nextdoor app, my family and I where in desperate need to help Otis overcome his fear driven anxiety and resource guarding of me and his mom , Otis stood at Dog on fun for 17 days , Ian trained every other day and Otis had activities every day at their fun zone, and fun it is ! I received photos daily from Dogs of fun and many many videos and pics from Ian while he was out training Otis , Ian took Otis to the park on many occasions, pet co and homedepot, places where we Otis' family never had to the confidence to do so. We are truly blessed and amazing on how well Ian helped Otis and how well Otis was treated at dogs on fun , this is going be long lasting relationship for us with Ian and Dogs of fun. When Otis first meet Ian , Ian was not able to go near him let alone pet him and let me tell ya the bond they share is amazing ! We have learned with Ian that having confidence, trust and with the right training any dog can overcome, we where at the point where we told our selves Otis will need to be rehome because a new family moved into our home , and with Otis' fears and setbacks we thought that was all we can do , but God lead us to Ian and Dog on fun and we all couldn't be more happier with the outcome ! Never give up on your pup no matter what the situation may look like , Ian has shown us that and Otis is different pup.

Covina Animal Hospital
302 E San Bernardino Rd, CovinaThis was my first time at Covina Animal Hospital, and I made sure I researched the place before going there. Upon arrival, everyone was very welcoming, and what I loved the most was how they treated my baby who is a pittie with so much love. I also voiced my concerns about my dog not getting along with other dogs and they made sure that there were no issues and accidents. I also want to shout out Andrew for answering all my questions and he made me feel more at ease about what to expect since my dog needed to get sedated. I plan to continue to go to Covina Animal Hospital from now on.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

GS Cafe and Ethiopian Cuisine
1068 N Citrus Ave, CovinaI've always been curious about African food whenever I found myself in near LACMA, especially when it's so close to little Ethiopia. To my surprise, one of my friends was talking about getting Ethiopian food over the weekend in west covina, there's no better time right? We decided on the GS Special to get a bit of everything: The platter serves about 2-3+ people and they aren't wrong. They mean like 2-3 big eaters because the dish itself is served with injera, fermented flatbread, as your main delivery source of deliciousness and it can be pretty filling if you don't pace yourself. The injera itself is like a soft spongy flatbread but sour almost like sourdough. There's no utensils as it's traditionally eaten with your hands, like your make it yourself wraps. Out of the various side dishes it came with, I felt drawn to both the doro wot and key wot(chicken and beef stew respectively) for their depth in flavor from the berebere seasoning and the homey flavors. That's not to say the vegetarian sides should also be ignored too as the key sir, kik wot, and atkilt were all my favorites with the various flavors and textures it really brings about a more social and large gathering setting to enjoy all this. I would recommend the lentils too, but I don't normally eat lentils so they all kind of mixed together for me. A big surprise for us was that seeing us complete the special in its entirety, the chef was so moved that we got complimentary Ethiopian spiced tea. It was such a nice gesture for them and I gotta say the spiced tea makes your whole body warm from the cinnamon, cardamon and cloves. I highly recommend it! For folks who are curious, it's very similar to thai tea with the shared spices in cinnamon and cardamon. I would recommend this place for future food ventures as the restaurant vibe is very homey, no frills and good food along with an equally kind chef and staff!! Situated in a random plaza, I wouldn't have figured out there would be an ethiopian place here of all places.

Old World Delicatessens
126 Shoppers Ln, CovinaBeen going here since I was a kid. Waaaaaaaaay back. They had other locations that my family would frequent but this one is the one we visit now. I love everything i get but my fave is the eggplant parm. (OK. And lasagna. And chicken. And... Oh, who am I kidding. There's more)
Great local business with delicious food and many choices. They also have a deli and bakery. So they've got dessert and something for lunch on Monday. Highly recommend. Go check it out.

Alosta Brewing Co.
692 Arrow Grand Cir, CovinaI came to Alosta Brewing in Covina to photograph a wedding. The brewery was cool! It had a lot of space. I didn’t try any beers but everyone kept talking about the Jamaica seltzer and I’m gonna have to go try it out soon! I look forward to visiting again.

Mandalay Morning Star Burmese Kitchen
750 Terrado Plaza #33, CovinaFamily-owned, excellent service. Portions just right for the price. 15% service charge, no tipping needed. Free tea. The took over a Japanese restaurant and kept the decor. Place is clean, spacious and has a calming ambience. Food is a bit salty for my taste but pairing it with coconut rice reduced the saltiness. Wish I ordered a 2 helpings of the coconut rice. We had the mohinga, original chicken curry and the tea leaf salad. All three items were salty. The tea was refreshing. It tastes like the wintermelon tea my grandma used to make.

Luigi's tacos
4449+J4X, Arrow Hwy, CovinaOn Arrow Hwy and Barranca city of Covina, there's this little gem call Luigi's tacos B.O.M.B tacos!
Best around street Tacos and Burritos all their food is packed of flavor, fresh and best of all unlike other taco stands that barely put any meat, not here they always put more than enough meat on their tacos and Burritos so definitely you get your money's worth.
All the times I've been here they keep their taco stand pretty clean again unlike others that have trash laying around their taco stand this one here they keep it clean. Service as well pretty friendly, dudes cooking the food as well friendly with that welcoming attitude no salty faces here.
Overall awesome spot to hit up for some late night taco cravings. Prices are really reasonable, some of these taco stands around the area are way overpriced that's why you never see anyone hitting those up, so definitely recommend this one!

Sushi & Roll
519 N Azusa Ave, CovinaSuch a nice sushi spot in Covina! This place is small and cozy, but the sushi is so good and super fresh. They have a buy two rolls, get one free special and it's honestly an amazing deal, especially for the quality. The rolls were generously sized, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. Every bite tasted fresh, and you can tell they really care about what they're serving. Service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I've been here about 3 times now and it always hits the spot. It's now mine and my daughters go-to place. If you're in Covina and craving sushi, this place is a must-try. Great food, great value, and a super charming place.
