“This business goes above and beyond for customers. Years ago when they were at their old location, an OUSD high school student of mine was interested in clothing design and small business. My husband liked this brand, so my student and I reached out to Oakland’s Own’s owner. Right away, he was receptive, warm, and encouraging.
We’ve since bought shirts and a jacket for ourselves and family.
More recently, I ordered kids’ clothing. They communicated a restock delay and EVEN BROUGHT IT TO ME to make sure I could gift it in time to out of town family.
I can’t recommend this business enough. And everything we’ve ordered has always been fire. The designs are hella unique and consistently great quality. Plus it’s run by good folks!
Thank you Oakland’s Own. Hella proud to rep the Town with your gear.”

“This store is SO beautiful and bright. Sometimes i go in and look around just to brighten my mood. Ive gotten some of my most cherished clothes here. Also a great place to find fun gifts for others.”
“This is my go to spot for selling and buying used kids clothes. They also have women's clothes and I always find gems here. Great selection of kids toys and very sensibly priced. I use my store credit to buy all of the gifts for kid birthday parties throughout the year.”
“The staff members were super-friendly and honest about the fit of my hoodie when I was last here a while back. I ended up getting a more slim-fitting one and it actually sort of keeps me motivated to exercise and keep trim (just so I can fit in it). I get compliments on it often.
The selection of products is nicely curated. You'll find things here that you won't easily find at other stores.
Every time I visit Oakland I try to poke my head into this shop to see what's in store (literally).”
“You HAVE to come here if you’re looking for gifts for little ones - we stopped in to buy a gift on the way to a 1 year olds party and found the perfect thing + a card. They even wrapped it up in gift wrapping free of charge. Small business like this make all the difference.”
“I’ve been shopping at Silver Moon Kids for 13 years now and all of them have been lucky! Dima and her staff run an amazing store stocked with new and gently used clothing, books, and toys. It’s the perfect place to buy for all things children.”
“I had an absolutely wonderful experience here finding my wedding dress! They had an incredible selection, everyone was so kind and helpful and I couldn't love my wedding dress anymore! 10 out of 10 would absolutely recommend anyone looking to get a gorgeous dress!”
“I purchased some jeans GAP online during at 50% off sale. However, one pair did not fit well and I wanted to exchange it for a slim cut. Not having had to do an online return, I text chatted with a customer service rep and she explained the steps to return the pants, reorder and pay for the new pants and that it would take up to 25 business days for my return to be processed and credit to be issued. Not wanting to deal with the process, I decided to do the exchange at a store. GAP has been closing many locations and stores are few and far in between. Luckily the nearest store was only 9 miles away at the Lakeshore area and I found a parking space down the block. There was no wait and I was able to walk up to the cashier and explained my intent to do an exchange. She said I would be credited for my purchase, but I would have to purchase the new jeans at the current price and not at the price I paid, which didn't make sense. She said she would get a manager to help me. A manager came and I explained my situation and he checked if the pants I wanted was in stock and it wasn't. So he ordered it online and it would be sent to me and processed my return. The pants went down in price so I even go a credit for the difference. I was happy to get my exchange done at the store and not have to deal with the steps required for an online return. It was not simple like a return on Amazon. Though the cashier did not understand the exchange I wanted to transact, I appreciated that the manager made the exchange transaction seamlessly.”
“My favorite thrift store in the east bay. The selection is truly unbeatable and the volunteer staff are kind and dedicated. However, the new(ish) layout is totally inferior to the way it used to be. I’ve given it some time and an open mind, but I really just hate the way things are laid out now! I loved when the clothing racks and regular/vintage home goods were all on the left hand side and the fancier ceramics and home items were on the right. It’s hard to say why, but the flow of the new space is just really unpleasant. I’ve been back fewer times since the remodel because of the layout, it’s just no longer as relaxing of a shopping experience and is now much more crammed and stressful. I miss the old Bambino. While I’ll remain a loyal customer, I can’t say I’ll be seeking out trips to the shop as regularly. Hopefully they come to their senses and bring back the old layout. ?❤️”
“Every time I've dropped by this location, the sales person's have been professional and helpful.
Besides having cool Oaklandish merchandise, they have a huge collection of Oakland Roots and Oakland Ballers shirts and hoodies.
Matt says if you are in the Fruitvale area maybe getting a Peet's or a croissant at La Farine, drop by and support our local community at Oaklandish.”
“The backpack giveaway this past Saturday was BOMB! Jumpers, nachos, plenty school supplies and backpacks, free haircuts, and a safe environment! Job well done! Looking forward to next year! Thank you all for giving back to the community!”
