I like their setup and their willingness to respond. Better than Petco by a lot and not as good as they are capable of being.
Above all a good resourced and safe place to self groom my dog.

It’s much closer for us and we can get our chicken feed and our dog food. My kids love looking at all the fishes in their tanks and watching the birds, guinea pigs and snakes. You can’t create a vibe like Redhill Pet Through any corporate entity it just comes naturally through neighborhood people and local folks. We love you Elvis. Sir walks a lot only uses red help pet center.

Petco
375 3rd St, San RafaelA decent Petco. Not amazing, but not bad by any means. It seems to have a MUCH larger selection of food than a few nearby locations. However, I have two complaints.
First, the staff levels when I went (weekend, mid day) seemed low. There was a total of two employees from what I saw (one restocking, one at checkout). To be fair, there weren't many customers, but it was very hard to find someone to help with a question I had. Not a delay breaker, but something to be aware of assuming I didn't come right when everyone was on break.
Second, the lighting sucks. It was relatively dark when I went compared to other stores. It makes the store feel more... idk, unwelcoming? Again, not a huge issue. It wasn't pitch dark and everything like that. I could still read signs with a little effort. But compared to other Petcos (or just stores in general), this one felt like the property owner or manager cut the electricity to half the lighting. At least, that's the feeling I felt while wondering the aisles.
All in all, not a bad store. Some negatives, sure, but the wide selection of products they have on offer here, even compared to other Petcos I've been to, offset that easily.

805 E St, San RafaelCat’s Cradle takes really good care of our two cats. They have been very understanding about the needs of our older cat who has both cancer and diabetes. During his stays, they administer his insulin twice daily and also give him his oral chemotherapy. Whenever he has had any issues they alert us promptly and have provided the necessary care. We’re extremely grateful for them!

Houndsville Grooming and Day care

This grooming salon has been nothing short of miraculous, managing to groom my anxious pup with gentle hands and no muzzle needed! All three of my dogs come out looking adorable: my girl sports charming pigtails, my young boy rocks a Mohawk and beard, and my senior dog's fresh trim makes him look like a youthful puppy again. I've been a loyal customer for years and can wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful doggie spa!

She talks to him and plays a bit just to relax him. He calm demeanor makes every visit just great. She also diagnosed my dog with an autoimmune disorder that was missed by others. What a great staff!

419 Irwin St, San RafaelI live 35 minutes away up in Petaluma area and for a variety of reasons went to San Rafael Animal Hospital for the first time with my dog Rose. I was pleased with every part of our visit. Dr. Davis even started chipping some tartar off my dog's teeth as he was examining her just because. They even managed to X-ray Rose's leg without anesthesia (and without me there) I believe because she felt secure in their care. Normally she would get anxious if she doesn't see me. Fair prices, too. The neighborhood is sort of industrial and the office is no frills, but the care is exceptional. I'll be coming back all the way down here from now on.

4280 Redwood Hwy STE 4, San RafaelDog whisperer and now cat whisperer. Dr. Marinho is a gift. It started with our Bernese Mountain Dog. He was beginning to have frequent neck pain. It was painful to watch him. He is 10.5 years old. So that is awesome for a Berner. His regular vet put him on Gabapentin daily which takes a toll on a dog’s liver/kidneys. I refused to give him daily. Since Sterling has been seeing Dr. Marinho for acupuncture and taking muscle and neck supplements, he’s like a 2 year old. He has not shown any neck/spine discomfort for months. On his walks, people ask if he’s two. Now our Ragdoll cat is 12.5 years old and got very sick. So is it hyperthyroidism, IBS, or lymphoma? So now Dr. Marinho is treating him as well. We now started acupuncture and supplements on him. She is so knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She is a delightful partner in figuring out the best options for my senior guys. I’m grateful for Dr. Marinho. Selfishly with all the kudos, I fear she’ll get even busier. Oh well, she is amazing. Our dog is a high energy mixed breed dog, who loves going on adventures -- Sibelle and the SYM team makes sure the dogs have the best time, and always come back tired! A Better Dog Trainer
987 Del Ganado Rd, San RafaelWe adopted a doberman mix and it was clear on day 2 that this was not going to be an easy dog. He was very willful, energetic and had some very unpredictable aggression issues - as in I could not walk him without him lunging and even, to my horror, nipping people on several occasions. My dog was also determined to rip my shoulder out of it's socket. Now we walk without incident and pulling. There have been other bumps along the way, but John always handles them in a very calm and compassionate manner. My dog, who is not overly affectionate, loves to see John: his tail always thumps upon John's arrival.

My dog goes to the daycare and I have boarded her there five days to two weeks at a time. My dog is 7 and has boarded since he was a pup. There was only one other time that I had this experience in Baltimore and was told that other dogs were peeing on him. I hope this wasn't the case here but I don't have another explanation.

The program's emphasis on early socialization was a game-changer! Bilbo thrived in the safe, supervised environment, making tons of puppy friends and learning proper dog etiquette. Hillary, Heather, and Ashally are amazinggg. Bilbo's confidence and charisma is all thanks to them. He's mastering skills like potty training, leash walking, and commands (his recall is amazing!). I'm even more confident as a result, as the team gave me a lot of support and tools for success along the way. We loved the program so much, we extended Bilbo's training by two more months. Bilbo is a joy to be around now - polite, obedient, and full of personality. If you want your pup to blossom like Bilbo, look no further!!!

2 Civic Center Dr #4185, San RafaelBasia is a lovely human being. She's patient and kind and runs a legit (as in licensed, bonded, and insured) pet care business. We did an intake and trial day with our dog, Matilda with her. Unfortunately, it was not a match (our little girl was way too shy and reserved to be a good fit for Basia's pack). But we so appreciated Basia's proactive and kind communication throughout the process. We got to spend some time with Basia and meet some of her other doggie clients, and I was so impressed by her attention to detail with all of the dogs, her honesty and transparency about anything we asked, and the fact that her space is so neat, clean, and organized. She loves her job so much that she has pictures of the dogs she cares for all over her house, which is really sweet. I wish it had been the right match for our dog, but I appreciated Basia's honesty about why it wasn't. I would feel completely comfortable recommending her to others based on the interactions we had with her.

The bread here is the best bahn mi bread I've ever had on a sandwich, the pork is juicy and the cost is insanely economical. For 2 sandwiches and a Vietnamese iced coffee my total was 20 even (cash highly suggested to keep cost low!). The veggies were fresh and the portion was perfect. I would absolutely say this may very well be one of the best bahn Mis in the Bay area. I live in SF and grew up in the East Bay and bahn Mis are one of my faves so I'm constantly looking. The only thing wrong with this place is how far it is from my house. I will only come here any time I cross the bridge. Yes, it is that good of a deal; Bite for bite, this is not only a cheap eat, but absolutely delicious. Brought this with me to corte Madera and someone stopped and asked where I got the sandos, and I had to tell them I got them from a city over haha! They look, smell, feel and taste incredible. Oh and the coffee is solid too! Loved every part of this meal to the last bite/sip.

Food is fresh, intersting and flavorful with classic breakfasts as well as those with a Latin flair (Peruvian pulled pork, for example, is excellent!). Laos Kitchen can compete with ANY of those. The Nam Khao Todd was one of the best dishes I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It was like the Laotian version of lettuce wraps and was recommended by the manager. The pork skins were crispy and the lettuce was super fresh. And, the service is also terrific. I left my glasses in there and one of the staff members chased me down the street to give them to me. I had a long day at work and didn't realize I had even left them in there. HIGHLY recommended restaurant.
