Though this version of H&H is the 2nd location along Castle Hill Avenue, their 1st location currently held by Havana Cafe, the current iteration maintains the same ownership. When you enter, you're guaranteed a friendly and knowledgeable staff with plenty of dry goods in stock. Prices, even on this time of inflation, are very reasonable. Yes, brick and mortar shops seem passe in the days of cybershopping. And big corporate companies seem to tempt shoppers with online offers and easy sales. That being said, there's just no substitute for local businesses!”
“I love shopping at this hardware store. Their materials are cost effective, and of good quality. The proprietors are very courteous and easy to deal with. “You can go to Homedepot for cut lumber if you don't mind waiting around to get help to cut it. Or, you can go to Fairbanks Lumber and get what you need right on the spot. Just tell them what type of lumber you need and the cut dimensions. In a few minutes, you're driving off with precision cut lumber. The quality of the lumber in many cases is superior to what you would find at big box stores.”
“I was visiting the area and discovered my internet, and google maps feature did not work on my phone when I got to New York from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I was on the phone to my cell phone provider tech support for 2 hours between three calls, and they couldnt figure it out. I drove around in circles for hours, from JFK airport and ended up at this shop looking for a map to buy. The owner got his son and he figured out how to download a map and use it off line. It got me to where I need to go. I wll never fotget how the little discount store in the Bronx help me out and would not accept anything in return. This tells me they are very very good people here. Thank you for your help and support.”

This place eliminates the need to visit a big box store, they’ve never not had something I was looking for. Grateful for their presence in the neighborhood. PS-they did an amazing job rescreening my doors!”
“The service is very good. I just recommend for store to stay open a little later during the week so that customers have time to get there after work. Also, many projects are done on the weekends so being open on Saturdays would help a great deal for so many customers. Being open an extra hour or two during the week and at least til 2pm or 3pm on Saturdays would be of great value to customers and would be highly appreciated.”

“Buddy's no longer owns the place that bears his name. That honor belongs to a guy named Karl. And Karl knows an awful lot about boats (wiring, plumbing, repairing and if you have a bit of time and a bit of patience, they will be well rewarded with hardware that is real stainless steel. And if you press Karl, he can make metric-sized hardware. He is also good for advice, and he doesn't try to up-sell you ( in fact, he will probably suggest a cheaper and easier way of doing the repair.) Karl is also pretty good at engine advice. And he is not West Marine. He knows what he is selling and won't let you buy something that won't work. My one disappointment (and the reason for a 4-star and not 5-star review) is that Buddy's is not open on Sundays - even during the sailing season. So get there Monday - Saturday - best before 4p.”
