“We try to prioritize pre-loved/second-hand toys for our kiddo, but when going to children’s birthday parties where we know the parents would prefer new, we always pick up a gift here. We love supporting small, local businesses. They have an awesome selection and we usually have to drag our kiddo out because she wants to play with everything, ha. The store is organized very well and the employees are very warm and helpful. Lastly, they have a really cool option to purchase a gift bag for a few dollars (can’t remember the exact cost) and the full amount goes to a local animal nonprofit. We always choose that option.”

“Very cool bookstore! We walked in from the downpour right before closing and were greeted by the nicest people. We perused the vast amount of books for a very small space; and beautiful selection of cards. Since they were closing and we didn’t have an umbrella, the owner offered us hers. She even went out to her car to get it! She went above and beyond to help us out! If we lived closer we would visit this bookstore more frequently.”

“Great selection! I love that they carry books that you don't see at corporate chains like B&N, whoever stocks those shelves knows that they're doing. I'll definitely be back.”

“Fortunately for my wallet I am only visiting Philly for the weekend or I would be in financial crisis due to this store! Neatly organized records and tapes. A huge selection of pre-loved books with an entire cookbook section in the back. I ran the risk of running late for my lunch reservation scouring the shelves!!”

“Good evening Google Family. This is my very first time visiting Harriet's Bookshop. I visited to promote Yolanda's children's book, Brown like Me. Miss Jeannine Cook is the owner/CEO of Harriet's bookshop. I had previously contacted Miss Cook through email. I decided to go in person to visit the bookstore and possibly meet Miss Cook. Harriet's Bookshop is named for Harriet Tubman. It is a beautiful place with plenty of books and many books by black authors. I loved the setup of the place. They have a long table and chairs and candles. I love the decor and ambience of the place. A beautiful place to hold a book signing. I also loved that they have a coffee/tea setup in the bookshop. It is in the process of being opened. Hoping that it will be open in time for Yolanda's book signing. It was great to meet Miss Cook and she also has a book that she wrote and it is available for sale in the bookshop. The book is called It's Me they Follow by Jeannine A. Cook. I enjoyed my experience here in the bookshop, networking and talking with Miss Cook. I am truly looking forward to Yolanda's book signing here. It will be a winner!!! Also Yolanda's book, Brown like Me is currently on the bookstore shelf, hardback and paperback. $15.00 for paperback and $20.00 for the hardback. God is Good!!! Workout, be healthy, fit and Fabulous especially for people over fifty years of age.”

“Okay so I don't live in Philadelphia anymore. But when I grew old enough to travel on my own one of my greatest memories was discovering this store. I always had felt different from my family and those around me, maybe even a little odd. But the connection I felt to the energy and all the offerings in this shop, as well as the pleasant people who worked there was a defining moment for me and 20+ years later I still think of walking down the aisles with fond memories of a wide selection of spiritual books and trinkets, some of those I bought still sit on my shelf, worn from the years of reading and referencing. Deep nostalgia, and I am so pleased to know that when I come back home soon that this bookstore is still here for me to visit.”

“Been going to this wonderful bookstore for several years and with the new addition children’s section, it is just amazing. I literally cannot wait to go back with my children so they can pick their chapter books for summer.! Beautiful selection of books and wonderful small town vibe. The staff were very friendly today, which I certainly appreciated and the gorgeous dollhouse to look at as well did not hurt! Thank you for an uplifting experience.”

“I’m a lover of local bookstores which is why I chose to hurry here 10 blocks from home after work rather than order the book I wanted online. I arrived 5 minutes before closing hours posted online only to find the place dark and locked. The sign on the door said the store closes at “6ish” on mondays and if earlier it’s usually “weather dependent”. It was the most gorgeous fall day and the store closed early?! And the store is closed Tuesday-Thursday ie for the next 3 days. It’s disappointing to not have a dependable local bookstore in the center city area. I didn’t want to give fewer stars because I didn’t actually experience the store itself, but I did feel that this feedback was importsnt as someone living in the area who gets out of work at around 5:30 every day, probably like most people. I guess I’ll go to Barnes and noble.”

“Really nice neighborhood bookshop. Staff is very friendly and helpful, always interesting titles on the tables and shelves.

Lately I've been buying books for pickup at the shop. They're always good about providing updates, and they're open til 7 so it's easy find the time to pop in.”

“Hands down the cutest shop in Manayunk. Very friendly and helpful staff, diverse selection of books for all readers, and a cozy vibe! What more can you ask for from a bookstore?”

“I was staying at a hotel nearby and spotted the store on the ride over and having forgotten my kindle I knew I had to go. Firstly I was delighted to see a CAT LYING IN A PILE OF BOOKS. I knew it was going to be a good time. The place is absolutely packed with books and it’s delightful. They also have physical media. And there’s a second floor!!!! I ended up with three books and paid $16 total which is extremely reasonable. I really fell in love with the place!”

“This bookstore boutique was such a surprise! Excellent, curated collection of science fiction classics, fantasy, and romantic, including less well known authors and special editions. They have a big section of dungeon & dragons items, including custom dice. What really wowed me were the bookshelf craft kits and amazing quilled greeting cards, some of which were truly works of art. Great, helpful staff , too. Everything you need in an excellent little bookstore. I walked through the Dick's outside entrance to find it easily (as they were the first store when I excited the other side into the mall)”

“The women who were closing tonight (5/16) were amazing. We needed to find Henny Penny for a baby shower in the morning. Unfortunatly we were the ones walking in right before closing. They ended up staying a little late to make sure we had exactly what we needed. We're extremely appreciative of their help!”

“I frequently visit Barnes and Noble at Lawrence Park Shopping Center. It's a wecoming place. I am always there for books, beautiful Christmas Cards ( the only place I purchase my holiday cards), magazines, adorable stuffed animals, unusual games, and a great children's section.
The staff is always helpful finding or ordering a book for me. Clean and open. Whenever I'm at Lawrence Park, which is weekly, I wonder into Barnes and Noble.”

“Great customer service--from halfway across the country! They were hosting an author event, and the staff went the extra mile to ship me a book because I couldn't make it in person. I had a great experience and would buy from them again.”
