1964 Ashley River Rd # A, CharlestonThis place rocks! I was waiting years ago for someone to open a dog wash and as soon as they opened, I brought my pup in and haven't gone anywhere else since!
We use the self-wash tubs because my medium/large mutt is now very senior and very anxious about being handled, so it's really convenient! No matter what time I come in, even if they're very busy, I never have to wait. The tubs and dryers are plentiful and my dog loves the staff even though she does not love baths. They're all so welcoming and kind, even though I often come in right before last call after work (sorry, y'all... I try to go as fast as I can!).
I usually let them do her claws with the Dremel tool too. Because she has arthritis and has trouble standing still, they always let me help hold her while she's on the table. Sometimes they even shave out her paw pads since she has a lot of trouble getting traction. I truly appreciate how much they accommodate us with her mobility issues!
I love the loyalty card and free wash too, and that the deal hasn't changed since they opened. They always honor the punch card.
They even went above and beyond one time a few years back when I had a senior pup only for her golden years and brought her in for her final bath. I mentioned briefly to them that I just wanted her clean for people to snuggle her before we said goodbye, then paid and washed my two pups. A while later after I'd left, I figured out they must have only charged me for my younger (now very senior) dog and not the older one. I never remembered to thank them for that, but want to thank them here! It was a really sweet gesture.
Although Island Dog a little bit pricier than other self-washes I've been to in other states, it is the only one I'm aware of in West Ashley and still my favorite place to go for self-washes. I'm pretty sure they discount the nail trim when you do self-wash too because it always costs less than I expect.
Even if it isn't the only dog wash in town, I'd still choose Island Dog. Belle Pepper and I appreciate your lovely business and thank you for welcoming us all these years!

I've had no experience with this and I knew there are very strict rules about compliance so i asked for assistance. The store manager, Christine Olinski, was so helpful in helping me choose the right size carrier and just talking me through my concerns. Ms. Olinski also recommended a certain style/size of the attachable feeding cups and ordered them online to be delivered to my home.
I truly appreciated the time and interest she took to assist me yesterday.
I'd also like to compliment Myla, the associate who checked me out. She was sweet and patient while we ordered the feeding cups and then i got a few more items before checking out.

They also cut down their nails on their toe beans. I loved this place when I lived in Charleston. They were some lifesavers because of how well they took care of my cats. She did fantastic which was great news because she had a bad experience boarding previously. She came back very happy and I knew she had a great time. As she got older and grooming became more difficult for her, they always gave her extra attention and care to make sure she was comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire process.
What also meant so much to us was how genuinely they cared about getting to know us as a family, not just Candy as a client. They always took the time to ask how everyone was doing, remembered little details about our lives, and made us feel truly valued and cared for every time we walked through the door. Their kindness and warmth went far beyond grooming and made us feel like part of the Tails Gone Wild family.
At previous groomers, Candy would shake nervously and try to run back to me at drop off, which always broke my heart. But with Tails Gone Wild, everything changed. Candy was genuinely excited to go there, which says everything about the love and trust Sue and Marie built with her.
It’s rare to find people who care for your dog as if they were their own, but that’s exactly how we felt every time we brought Candy in. We are so grateful for the kindness, patience, and compassion they showed her over the years and would recommend them to anyone looking for groomers who truly love animals.

The Dog Wash
148 Line St, CharlestonCarrie is the BEST! She got my Wheaten Terrier - Mini Poodle mix in very quickly and got him cleaned UP! He looks amazing, and it was the first time that I think he actually had an enjoyable experience getting groomed. I feel so comfortable leaving my baby there! A couple of weeks later, she groomed my Great Pyrenees - Border Collie mix and he's never looked better. 10/10 recommended getting your dog(s) in here!

Service provided here was top-notch, from Lori at the front desk (she was my first impression of Cutler Animal Hospital) to during my visit with Dr. Cutler and Selena, and even after at checkout with Sydney. I left feeling very satisfied with my experience and can't sing enough praise for this practice.
Come support a small, local practice that actually cares about your pets. I have searched far and wide for a vet that I can trust, and am very picky about where I go for my pups. I have nothing but good things to say about Cutler Animal Hospital. Highly recommend!

If she was in a room and knew a dog was in another room she would lose her mind, She would hop fences to chase dogs. We didn’t know what to do. After finding Sit means sit, I had high hopes but didn’t know what exactly what to expect. From the first training, we made a comment about how storm was not in the same room as other dogs, to turn the corner and find her placing with dogs around here. That changed everything, from there on was magic. Huge shoutout to Christine who treated storm like her own and was her main trainer. I can bring her to Lowe’s and pet stores and not have to tense up at the sight of another dog waiting for the chaos to ensue. Storm has become a completely different dog and is much happier. I can sit her, drop the leash, and walk to an outdoor cat to pet and know that she will be in the same spot when I turn around. Thank you to sit means sit, Cassie, Katelyn, and Noel for helping with Storm and turning her into an amazing dog that I love showing off. (Especially the compliments I get about how well behaved she is) The work they do is truly amazing and if you’ve seen them with their dogs, it shows. I highly highly highly recommend. Even for just basic obediences. Storm will be boarding with them and knowing she is going to Christine’s home, having the time of her life gives us peace of mind while we are away.

After 4 weeks I was given back a completely new (upgraded) dog. Thea can now be walked/biked/ran off leash, doesn’t chase squirrels, and listens intently. She is comfortable around people and other dogs and no longer has anxiety. I recommend K9 control training to everyone.

Not even done with all our training sessions yet but we can tell this was the best investment we’ve ever made. All the staff are so sweet and helpful, our trainer has helped us with everything we’ve asked, and the price is fair. It’s all positive reinforcement so you don’t have to worry about your pup being shocked or yelled at. Our dog LOVES Griffin because he gets rewarded for being good.

I got the salted brown sugar latte and avocado toast the first day and the peanut butter cookie latte the second day, it was all delicious. What I noticed most of all is the attention to every little detail in the aesthetic of the place (bathroom walls are fabulous). They use fiestaware for all their hot drinks and the music choices are killer. The staff is super friendly and there’s a cat that hangs out on the patio :)

The sandwich was SO FRESH and packed with meat. Hard to bite but good. My first time trying Carolina Kettle chips (Dill Pickle of course!!) but I prefer Miss Vickie's brand way more. These were definitely different though.

We ordered the beef carpaccio which was absolutely perfect. Then we had the tenderloin and the lamb which were cooked perfectly.
The She Crab soup was out of this world.

It came with a sesame bun , double patty, American cheese, red onion, burger sauce, lettuce, and tomato. I also had a side of their crinkle cut fries and they were phenomenal. Perfectly crispy and salted and peppered perfectly.
Burger was a 9.8/10
Fries were a 8.7/10
Definitely would recommend for any occasion if you are craving a satisfying and filling burger.
