I can’t say enough good things about Austin Body Works.

Our son was on his first trip out of state when he had his very first car accident just a few blocks away from the shop around 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. My husband called Austin Body Works, and the gentleman who answered said they could stay a few extra minutes so our son could come by.

They didn’t just stay a few minutes. The team helped him when the other driver followed him to the shop, and one of their employees spoke Spanish and was able to communicate with the other driver to gather the necessary information.

They checked the car to make sure the fender wouldn’t rub the wheel and confirmed the door shut and latched properly so it would be safe for him to drive home. They also took the time to speak with us on the phone and explain how Texas collision procedures work so we knew what to expect.

Our son is high-functioning autistic, and situations like this can be overwhelming, especially when you’re far from home. Their patience and kindness made a stressful situation much easier.

One of the lighter moments was when our son asked if they could have the car fixed by Monday… just three days away. We all had a good laugh.

They stayed well past closing on a Friday evening to help someone else’s kid after his first accident, and we are incredibly grateful for that.

He’s a straight shooter and goes above and beyond to make sure customer vehicles are road ready. He was very communicative throughout the few days my vehicle was with him. Prices are acceptable given the quality you’re getting. However, some services like a synthetic blend oil change are on the high side of the range ($60). With car maintenance, you get what you pay for and Danny is providing honest and quality service to the people of Austin. Worth every penny.”

“I recommend Ken with no reservations. Excellent welder. My Panamera wasn’t driving quite “right.” My mechanic suspected this was related to some dents he saw on my wheels. Reached out to German Auto, who recommended Ken.Called on a Wednesday, scheduled for Thursday, picked it up on Friday, just in time for a road trip.Car drives nice and smooth like it’s supposed to, and for a great price. “I want to share my experience in a constructive way, because I believe businesses grow through honest feedback. While my first impression wasn’t ideal, I’m not leaving a low star rating as everyone has opportunities to learn, and I hope this review serves that purpose.

I stopped by yesterday a little after noon. I knew the shop was close to closing, and since I was already driving by, I came in briefly to make an appointment to have a failing motor mount replaced. As a woman, I’m aware that it can sometimes be difficult to be taken seriously in automotive environments, so I made an effort to explain the issue clearly and directly to minimize unnecessary back-and-forth. Here’s how the conversation went:

Andrew: “What seems to be the problem today?”
Me: “I was driving by and know you’re closing soon. I just wanted to schedule an appointment—my right-side engine mount is collapsed. The car vibrates in Park, Neutral, and Reverse but stops in Drive.”
Andrew: “Why do you think it’s the engine mount?”
Me: “Because I saw it with my own eyes.”
Andrew: “So either you’re a mechanic or you know a mechanic— which one is it?”

I’ll leave the rest of the interaction out, as it isn’t necessary for the point I want to make. What is important is that comments like this can come across as dismissive and condescending, especially toward women who are often already fighting to be taken seriously when discussing their own vehicles.

I’m sharing this because respect should be the foundation of any customer interaction regardless of gender. Please take this as an opportunity for coaching. Women are fully capable of understanding vehicle issues, and we deserve the same level of professionalism and courtesy as any other customer.

I do hope my next experience is more reflective of the standards I know many shops strive to uphold.”

“Always busy, so it takes a little time to be helped. It's mostly the customers slowing the guys down with questions, getting information about their tires, new tires, cost, blah, blah, blah... Once I got helped, bam, bam, bam, left tires to be repaired. Came back and they had to replace both tires because holes couldn't be repaired. Paid again ONLY for the protection and that was it... Nice guys help as fast as they can... Nothing wrong with being busy...”

Filled with dread, I figured I would have to leave my truck bed full of art supplies in the lot overnight, take an uber home, and maybe tow my truck somewhere the next day?! I was SO lucky to realize that A-1 was close enough for me to slowly roll over to, right before closing time.When I got there, they were gracious, helpful, and friendly, and even stayed open a little late to patch my tire. It only took a few minutes and it was about $35 - a great value, and SUCH a relief compared to my worst case scenario. I am forever grateful!”

Blown tire -
Straightforward prices, straightforward salt of the earth people. These guys have been amazing. As a 5 foot tall woman I always worry that I’m going to be taking advantage of, but I can assure you that I felt completely taken care of and welcomed. I called about 10-15 tire shops, including the big name brands, and no one has a price that is going to be similar to the shop. Prices were straightforward. Nothing hidden. I felt so taken care of that I also got my tire patched and brought it back to get it balanced all within the same hour of getting the replacement tire when mine blew out I will only be coming here now!

Car wouldn’t start -
After they fixed my blow tire and patched another one of my tires, which by the way was always within 15 or for 20 minutes, I went to go start my car to leave and my car wouldn’t start. They brought out a battery to try to jump it that didn’t work. MC brought his truck over to jump it using his truck and that didn’t work. He called a mechanic and the mechanic came over within 30 minutes. He took a look and found out that my starter wasn’t working and said that if I could go get the part, he would fix it right then and there. At this point it’s almost 2 PM. It takes a while to remove a starter because you need to bring it into the store as part of their core. He was able to do it within an hour. I brought back the part and he got me out of there by 4 PM. They were the kindest made sure that I was safe and taken care of.”
