“It’s a really cool place to visit! Every time I walk in, the associate welcomes me with a smile, which always makes the experience better. It was moderately busy this weekend, but nothing too overwhelming. They have a huge variety of items and tons of fun knick-knacks featuring all kinds of favorite characters. My daughter loves Hello Kitty, and a horror fan, She was happy to see FNAF merchandise too. No matter what you’re into, they probably have something for you. My only small complaint is that some prices have gone up over time. Items that used to be $5 are now around $7, but honestly that’s happening everywhere these days, so it’s not too surprising. Overall, still a fun spot to shop and browse. Here were some of my daughter’s fun finds!”

“Honestly a great spot, especially for squishy hunting. I love that they usually put the trending and popular items right up at the front so they're easy to find. It also really helps that they put a limit on how many squishies you can buy so people don't just clear out the shelves. Super affordable and definitely worth stopping by.”

“Nice store to shop at with really good prices, and everyone has provided excellent customer service EXCEPT for one middle-aged Hispanic lady. Last time I visited, the cashier who checked me out seemed to have an attitude. You could tell by her facial expression and the way she interacted with me, which unfortunately made the experience uncomfortable. I hope this was just a one-time experience because I’ve otherwise had good experiences at this store.”
“They were rearranging the store so it was a bit cluttered. They have a wide variety of things from beauty products to toys and even a small clothing section. Good for last minutes items. They have squishys which is the big thing for kids right now. Now be award they do have a sign that say 3 squishys per customer but when you get to the counter they try to saynits 3 per family. I had 4 kids and they were trying to say that even though each of the kids with me had their own money completing their own purchases the cashier tried to say as a family we could only get 3. She let them purchase their squishys eventually.”

Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
