While exploring Bainbridge Island today I came across Z Bones Pet Mercantile, and it’s exactly the kind of locally owned pet shop you hope to find!
Similar to the Seattle Mudbay, The store is absolutely adorable and packed with everything a pet parent could want—leashes, collars, toys, high-quality pet food, and a great selection of fresh and locally sourced options. You can immediately tell this place is thoughtfully curated rather than just stocked with generic big-box items.
The highlight for me was finding a leash for my corgi that i’ve been hunting for online for months that had been discontinued everywhere else. Somehow they had it, and it felt like striking gold.
Shops like this are why I always try to explore local businesses when visiting a new place. This place clearly cares about the quality of the products they carry and the experience they create for pet owners.
If you’re on Bainbridge Island and have a furry companion at home, this place is absolutely worth a stop.

931 Hildebrand Ln, Bainbridge IslandThe best dog boutique store I’ve ever been to. My friend and I walked in and saw the cutest sweaters and dog snoods we’d ever seen. We were then greeted by the sweetest woman who honestly just made my day. I felt so welcomed and was able to justify each purchase by supporting a friendly local business. There are so many unique and high quality items: sweaters, bows, leashes, toys, snacks and even human gifts with adorable dogs on them. I can’t wait to go back and buy more snoods and snacks. ?

Salty Dog Wash
4664 Lynwood Center Rd NE, Bainbridge IslandI've been bringing my dog for mostly the self wash for years, but recently brought him in for a full grooming. I couldn't be happier. Chelsea did a great job with him and bonus, he didn't hate it. He's got a very thick and long coat and I felt I had lost the battle, but Chelsea fixed it and gave me some pointers. (I'd rather have her do it)

The box contains: 3 types of salmon, 3 types of tuna, scallop, octopus, and pickled veggies. Each fish consisted of a liiiight soy? marinade, mayo, and spicy mayo version. The island bento consisted of a small chowder, small curry, seaweed salad, crab salad, and tuna mayo on top of rice. Great quality fish.

9727 Coppertop Loop NE #101, Bainbridge IslandA must-do experience for whiskey lovers. They offer a four 1/4oz flight for only $5, where you can try all of their unique selections. My favorites were the Barbados and the French, but you can't go wrong with anything in the selection. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere is very inviting. Highly recommend!

They’re also really cool about my kids hanging out, running about the grounds which is great as a parent who wants to relax from time to time. Major bonus is the gorgeous horses next door. Go show this winery some love!

Eleven Winery Tasting Room
287 Winslow Way E, Bainbridge IslandI love Eleven Winery, it’s my favorite place for wine on the island. Both the tasting room on Winslow Way and the winery and tasting room on NE Day Rd are great, and every staff member has always been fantastic. Connor now makes wine, but we loved him when he was serving too, he’s a great person and it’s awesome seeing him helping make great wine. In the tasting room we’ve been helped by Tiffany, Aiden, Jill, Brooke, and Ashley, and they’re all wonderful. Our wine glasses are never empty. They do sell some snacks, but the big plus is that you can bring in outside food, so you can bring whatever you want and really make your own perfect tasting.

7671 NE Day Rd W, Bainbridge IslandThe wine tasting was reasonably priced and delicious! Got to try 5 different wines which were all made right there by the winery. The staff were incredible. Dustin was such a great curator in figuring out what we liked. And the owner even gave us a quick tour of the place. Erica was off shift but it was so nice to have a great time with the staff! Would definitely recommend if you plan on coming to bainbridge island!

7501 NE Dolphin Dr, Bainbridge IslandI love this place, we've had to bring a few roosters and they make it so easy, had to bring to 2 more, it's now $10 a bird, which I'm happy to do because I think it's a good cause. Lisa was the one who greeted me on site today and I was pretty frustrated about having to give them up, she was super sweet and defensive for us and helped me understand our Ag codes and rights. I felt relief & it was just nice to be understood. Thanks for your help!!!
