“Service at Borst Automotive on Golf Links was super. I pre-scheduled to drop off my vehicle for 5000 mile routine service. At the last minute I decided to wait for it instead of dropping it off. I was told at that time it may take some time since it was scheduled for drop off. So I went to the waiting room expecting service to take at least 3 hours. Within 20 minutes I noticed my vehicle was in the service bay being serviced. As I watched the service tech I couldn't help notice how professional this guy was. Workspace was super clean and organized. I was out the door 90 minutes later which included a run through the car wash. Thanks Borst Team.”

He was clearly super knowledgeable but not condescending in any way.He went out of his way to work with me on sourcing a special part for my 2001 Golf TDI. They installed a new clutch that is working just great. I had been going to certain shop (I won't name) that does really good work when they abruptly told me that my car was "too old" for them to work on anymore. I was like, "Hey! It only has 139k miles on it! What am I supposed to do? Throw it away!?" As I said, (*nameless) is a good shop that I trusted... but c'est la vie. (I mean a stick shift ALH TDI is kind of a special machine - at least to me and the TDI cult.)After shopping around and talking to some mechanics, I thought I would give Desert tech a try. “A few months ago, my 2003 Mercedes stalled in heavy traffic, and it had to be towed to my home. Surprisingly, I was able to start my car next day but wasn't sure if it was going to stall again. After calling and talking to a number of auto shops, I decided to go with Discount Muffler but wasn't sure I was going to drive 16 miles to Discount Muffler. Carefully and cautiously, I took alternate route rather than I-10 to get to Discount Muffler, hoping and even praying that it wouldn't stall on me. As I almost got to the shop and made a turn from Ina Rd. near Jiffy Lube, my car stalled again. Stranded but not too far from the shop. Katrina sent her crew to rescue me. They were able to troubleshoot and pinpoint and fixed the problem. I am still very, very thankful to Katrina and her working crew. My car still drives fine.”

“My 2014 Ford F-150 developed a growling noise at 167,000 miles that seemed to come from the rear end. I took it to a well-regarded shop in Green Valley and they diagnosed cupped tires. It was going to need tires fairly soon anyway, so I put a new set of expensive tires on it. The growling noise continued. I am a snowbird and was heading back to Michigan right away, so the truck sat in Arizona over the summer and fall.When I returned in December, the growling noise had not miraculously healed, so I took the truck to another well-regarded shop, where they diagnosed a bad right rear wheel bearing. This seemed reasonable, so I had them replace both rear wheel bearings. When I picked the truck up, the growling noise was still there, and one of the new wheel bearings broke within 10 miles. The shop replaced the bearing for free but could not delve more deeply into the problem. They recommended that I contact Simmons 4x4 at that point.I looked at Simmons' Google Reviews and they were excellent. Simmons was able to get me an appointment within the week. I dropped the truck off and they later called me to say that they had found a broken transmission bracket, and it was their opinion that the transfer case had a problem. They thought the noise was actually being transmitted down the driveshaft and manifesting itself in the rear end.This sounded reasonable, so I had them replace the bracket and install a rebuilt transfer case. The total charge for these repairs was just over $2,700.00, which was a fair price in my opinion.However, when I picked up the truck, the growling noise was still there. Simmons told me to bring the truck back and they would make it right. They even provided an Uber to take me home to Green Valley when I dropped the truck off.Two days later, the Simmons manager called and said that they had completely disassembled the differential this time and had found a pinion bearing with flat spots on some of its rollers. They had replaced it and the growling noise was gone. He told me that the bearing repair would normally cost about $1,200.00 and asked me "What I thought would be fair". I basically blurted out, "how about $1,000.00?" and he said, "we can do that". He sent another Uber driver to pick me up in Green Valley to retrieve my truck.I was dreading putting another thousand bucks into this repair, but that's the way it goes when you drive an older truck. I test drove the truck and the noise was gone...FINALLY gone. My truck was fixed!I went to the cashier and pulled out my credit card to pay the bill. To my complete surprise and delight, instead of charging me another $1,000.00, she CREDITED my account $1,000.00. The invoice said, "Customer satisfaction refund for misdiagnosing problem on first attempt".Repairing complicated machinery is as much an art as it is a science. I was never angry or upset at any of the shops that looked at my truck, but it was obviously frustrating and worrisome to keep throwing money at that growling noise and have it still mocking me every time I thought it was fixed. Simmons figured it out.I am writing this review because I cannot imagine EVER having a better vehicle repair experience than I had at Simmons 4WD. They are honest, competent, understanding, prompt, kind and generous in their treatment of their customers. I experienced service that I felt was above and beyond the call of duty and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who needs a difficult repair done on their vehicle. They are absolutely first rate in my book.”
