Pet Grooming

Wet Paws
2525 Lake Ave #2, AltadenaWe love Wet Paws! My big guy Deuce is a German Shepherd male. He has chronic skin issues and needs a wash about every two weeks. My friend Kyle and I have been desperately looking for a place to bathe him properly because every Groomer that I've taken him to has not been able to take care of his skin issue. We use the private space that they have for bigger dogs and it has been a godsend. The facility is packed with everything you need even though I bring my own shampoo and supplies. We just call ahead of time to make sure that there is no grooming taking place in that room for everybody's convenience. Thank you again to Kate and the staff at wet paws Deuce, Kyle and I are so grateful!

Pet Care

Vanderhoof Veterinary Hospital
2235 Lake Ave # 201, AltadenaMy family has been bringing our cats here for decades. The reason is the superb care they receive from the staff. Highly professional, extremely friendly (both to animals and humans). I highly recommend this place.

Altadena Pet Hospital
2071 Lake Ave, AltadenaWe recently switched to Altadena pet hospital for our two dogs and two cats and we really love it. We used to go to a vet in echo park that while they had so many five star reviews, it felt like everytime we went we were seeing new doctors and having to re-explain our pets medical history. It also always felt like they cared more about the money than the well being of our pets. Dr. Sahi is very knowledgeable and friendly. Our cat has some chronic health issues and he has been very attentive with him - researching alternative treatment routes and finding the right path for him. He also will only recommend something if it's truly worth doing for your pet, rather than trying to upsell you unnecessary or risky treatment. They are a small town vet, so the waiting room is small, parking lot is small, and sometimes there is a longer wait to see the doctor - but I've always experienced great customer service and a super friendly staff. Anytime I call I am on hold for no more than a few minutes if at all - which is very rare for vets in this area. One of our dogs is also very nervous and dog reactive. They said he can wait in the car until his appointment time and then use the side entrance to avoid seeing other pups which we love. I talked to a few folks in the waiting room and one couple had been coming there for 13 years, and the other couple 10 years. That was a huge selling point for us!

Altadena Ale & Wine House
2329 Fair Oaks Ave, AltadenaAltadena Ale & Wine House is easily one of the best spots in Altadena. The staff know their wine inside and out and love helping you discover something new. They’re welcoming, laid-back, and create an atmosphere that feels more like hanging out with friends than just grabbing a drink. With a great wine list, solid beer and food selection, and a classic old-school vibe, this place is a must-stop. Can’t wait to come back!

Prime Pizza
1900 Allen Ave, AltadenaPizzas there are good, not sure how it compares locally but for someone from Boston, this is good. Got the vodka, summer tomato (seasonal), and Sicilian. For 2 people it was a lot of pizza and it's good that they have a half and half option. I'd utilize it to get 2 different pizzas for the size of 1. Prices are pretty good for the quality of ingredients used. Ask for the pouches of cheese and pepper flakes. Just know their pepper flakes are actually spicy so their spicy pepperoni pizza is real spicy.
