Healthy Spot
1510 Walnut St, BerkeleyHealthy Spot is my primary go to spot for food, snacks, bones and holistic supplements. Dianne's like the MVP all day, every day over there in the Berkeley store. Her depth of knowledge crosses many different product sets and services. She is extremely versed in holistic supplements for a dog's overall health, physical and mental well-being. She has recommended game changing holistic supplements that I've integrated into my dog's daily life. For my 5yr old American Bully, HeiHei's pain management program allows him to lead a thriving & healthy lifestyle. HeiHei is on a monthly holistic supplements of Standard Process (Ligaplex II, Musculoskeletal, & Boswellia Complex), Connectin and Bixbi joint mushroom powder for my dog's hip, knee, joint dysplasia & osteoarthritis, that he was born with. He's my lovable lemon. Because of Dianne, I also felt comfortable putting HeiHei on a raw food diet of frozen duck necks, chicken and turkey necks which has kept him lean and fit for an 80 lb. large size dog. For treats, they have a huge selection of high-quality snacks. HeiHei's favorites are bone broth, long gullet sticks, beef taffy long sticks, massive tendon bones, generous freeze-dried options like duck & chicken necks, Stack that Cheddar & Gouda, etc. Your dog will live longer knowing Dianne and Healthy Spot Berkeley. You're welcome.

Pet Care

Campus Veterinary Clinic
1807 Martin Luther King Jr Way, BerkeleyFor more than 25 years I’ve had Campus Vet Clinic look after the succession of Brussels Griffons that took over my life. My Griffs have outlasted a couple generations of Campus vets, and the current crew and their cheerful support staff are worthy successors to those who came before.
Drs. Pierson and Tam have helped ease my Trixie into her matronly years, keeping under control later-life conditions like dry eye and declining mobility.
I am getting to the age when I wish the benefits of my own healthcare providers were as predictably positive as those enjoyed by my little friends. As always, we dog lovers strive to provide to our canine companions the things we cannot always get for ourselves.

Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital
2126 Haste St, BerkeleyBerkeley Dog and Cat is a wonderful veterinarian hospital. I have been coming here for over 20 years after taking my dog to numerous other vets to find out what was wrong. They figured out her health problem right away and she went on to live a long happy life. Now I take my cat there. The vets are top notch and the front office staff are kind and welcoming.

I am only comfortable leaving him with The Barkmont family when I need to have daycare for Ollie. Cannot recommend this facility enough. 10 stars - if that was an option.

R Positive Dog Walking
1472 University Ave, BerkeleyI wish Google would let us give 1,000 stars... there are really not enough stars available here to explain how wonderful Jolie and R Positive Dog Walking are! We have been the luckiest to work with Jolie for the past 9 years. It is a big deal to trust someone to take your dogs out into the world for adventures, or stay in your home and care for your dogs when you're traveling. Jolie is the absolute best we've ever worked with and we trust her completely. She is professional, genuinely loves the pups, is an excellent communicator including daily updates and photos, and is always looking out for the dogs' well-being. To illustrate how amazing Jolie is: one of our dogs had severe anxiety when she was younger, and we searched high and low for a walker who would be a good fit for us. Jolie met us for training sessions before starting walks, was incredibly patient as we continued that training, thoughtfully chose locations for walks where triggers would not be present, and showed so much love and care for our dog. Fast forward to today: our dog is a confident girl, enjoying her adventures with Jolie and happily greeting other dogs and people on her walks, and our lives are forever changed for the better ❤️ If you are looking for a dog walker or dog sitter, look no further - you are in the best hands with Jolie!!

BravoPup
941 The Alameda, BerkeleyI would give 500 stars instead of 5 stars if I could. My young, rambunctious Great Dane Otis and I LOVED the BravoPup class run by Anna Carlson. We took her Dog 1 and Dog 2 classes in Rockridge.
Anna’s methods are totally fun, totally force free - and they totally work! We had been having trouble with Otis’s recall and after only our first 2 classes Otis had a super solid recall - seriously, wild horses couldn’t keep him away when he hears his recall word.
Anna later helped me with private sessions acclimating my older dog to a new rescue dog. It was miraculous how quickly and effectively Anna was able to diffuse the situation and get my older dog to be calm and relaxed in the presence of the new dog.
Anna really knows what she’s doing and it’s obvious she has a special talent for reading dogs and figuring out stress free ways to guide them into the behavior we want.
Updates to follow - I’m so impressed with Anna, we’ll do more private sessions to help me continue to improve the behavior and happiness of my 3 Danes.
PS: Check out this photo showing how happy Otis is with his off leash time now that he can be trusted to come back.

Dog Gone Good
2412 Valley St, BerkeleyTraining with Mike has completely changed our lives with our GSD. We used to dread walks because of our GSD's frustrated greeter issues and excessive leash pulling, but the 1-on-1 training sessions turned everything around. We learned how to incorporate tools like the e-collar and prong collar correctly and humanely as part of a balanced training program.
I really appreciated the direct, no-nonsense communication style. He gives you the facts and the fixes without sugarcoating, which is exactly what we needed. We now have a dog that we can trust off-leash even in distracting environments. The best testament to the training was seeing our GSD maintain his recall and stay by our side, even when the other dogs he was hanging out with ignored their owners and ran off to cause chaos. If you want real-world results and a trainer who tells it like it is, I highly recommend Mike.

Humbowl
2975 College Ave, BerkeleyI'm always happy every time I have Humbowl! It's lovely to find a restaurant where vegetarian and vegan meals take center stage and aren't afterthoughts. The breakfast hash is my favorite, the veggies are cooked well and seasoned nicely, and the cilantro ginger sauce takes everything to another level. Their Thai curry is also delicious, perfect balance of ingredients i.e. generous portions of protein and veggies and not too much rice. Same for their sesame jasmine bowl (pictured). It's interesting that they offer a wide variety of bowls but they all *taste* like Humbowl, i.e. the ingredients all work really well together. And I never feel sick or heavy after eating their meals. Humbowl is excellent with catering and attentive to food allergy requests, they're an excellent option for feeding a crowd with varied dietary needs. The owner Eric is very kind too and gives back to the community. Such a great local business!

Bangkok by the Bay
800 Heinz Ave #19, BerkeleyThis restaurant is out of the fray of crazy Berkeley traffic, in a quaint brick building off the beaten track. Parking was easy and we walked into a warm atmosphere with high ceilings, long tables with comfortable chairs and professional service. The food was exquisitely presented, and the taste of the food was intricate. It was the best experience that I have ever had at a Thai restaurant. I highly recommend it!

FAVA
2114 Vine St, BerkeleyWonderful healthy vibrant food that is well presented…especially for takeout. ?. The person that took my order was super friendly and efficient. The food came out quickly! Loved the lemony green juice and organic chicken. The tahini cookies are giant and tasty but would be slightly better with a bit more salt in the dough or a bit of flake salt on the top. Also tasted my friend’s soup, and it was super yummy ? too! Note, this is a takeaway place with a few outdoor tables. Other than wanting more salt in my cookie, I loved everything.

Scoop N Chill
2122 Shattuck Ave., BerkeleyFrom what I can tell, this is one of the best ice cream and sweet shops in Berkeley! It's hidden in Crave Subs, but it has a lot of appeal in its own right.
The stand is decorated with waffle-cone lattice and decorative ice cream cones attached to the ceiling. It has bright and attractive signs and electronic arms whirl the ice cream right in front of you. Not only is the storefront adorable, but it's also located in the cartoon-themed Crave Subs. You can tell that the working area is kept very clean.
The menu is actually pretty extensive. It's a place that sells croffles, crepes, scoops of flavored gelato, milkshakes, and coffee. The gelato here is incredible!
The prices are entirely what I would expect, and the quality is very high. Everything they serve is beautiful, tasty, and carefully made! It appeals to children and adults alike.
The service is great! They are friendly and careful attentive with their work.
I definitely want to go back!

Berkeley Humane
2700 Ninth St, BerkeleyToday we found a tiny stray cat near the Berkeley BART station. He looked so small and vulnerable, and honestly we had no idea what to do. A quick Google search led us to Berkeley Humane, so we drove right over.
When we first arrived, we had trouble finding the entrance — but a staff member spotted us wandering and kindly walked us in. They welcomed the little guy with open arms and named him Bart (perfect name, given where we found him).
It’s clear everyone here genuinely cares about animals. We left feeling so reassured knowing Bart is in good hands and starting a brand new chapter of his life. Thank you, Berkeley Humane — you made a stressful situation feel hopeful. ?
