“We were told about this market about seven years ago by a resident of Castro Valley. We have gone back many times.We frequent them for their meat market (absolutely wonderful).They have a unique blend of “speciality items”. As a trained Chef, I enjoy going there to purchase any speciality items I might desire.I must be honest, I don’t shop there on a regular basis. I do shop there when I am preparing for a dinner party. I do go there when I desire a wonderful cut of beef, Lamb or Pork.An example is three years ago, I desired a Prime Rib Roast. I desire a specific cut of meat… and a cut that might have been different from what I could get from the local markets.I stopped at Al’s, spoke to one of the butchers, explained what I desired, how it was going to be prepared.I paid for my order and two weeks later, picked up my purchase. I must say, it was one of the better cuts of beef I ever had purchased. Our guests for dinner raved. Generally, In order to prepare great food, one must have great ingredients.Is Al’s market cheap? Nope.If I want cheap, I’ll go to Walmart and make do.Does Al’s market meet a need? Yep, they do.Try them, I’m certain you will love them.”

“Bigger and brighter supermarket than its smaller location also in Castro Valley. This is Asian Supermarket has fresh live seafood and shellfish, fresh meats and produce. Many many selection of snacks, noodles, drinks and more. Plenty of parking and brighter lights to keep the area safe. Shopping is easy they accept cash and card payments. This place is fairly new. Just the restaurant next door. Posted 2026/5.”
“I'm just going to comment on a couple of negative reviews the store got . First of all regarding the students....yes we have them line up, only allow a few in at a time it's less chaotic. Lining up outside verses crowding the door allows our deliveries, customers etc to enter easily and without incident. It also keeps the cutting in front of classmates that were already here, down to a minimum. The asking the students that are inside to be quicker is only to make sure everybody can make it inside before having to go back to school. Anyways, I am constantly asked by customers questions regarding the students behavior as well as negative remarks. I have nothing bad to say and will remind them that, they are not bad kids..
Rules are made to keep things in order. Nobody is singled out or treated inproproperly.”
