“Ona did a very great job with my tattoo. Being my first tattoo, she made the experience very comfortable and made sure I was completely sure with what I wanted before she started. She recommended a different spot for the tattoo then what I chose originally and I ultimately chose her suggestion which ended up being the best option and I am very thankful for it! The place itself is very nice and welcoming and offered snacks, drinks and candy! If I lived in LA I would definitely come back again! Overall I had a great experience!”

“I have gone to Brentwood Art & Framing Gallery for two large sports memorabilia projects. Richard is the best to work with. He is thorough, takes his time and never rushes during the creative process. He is friendly, great personality, meticulous about detail, artistic, and allows the customer to be fully involved in the process. I trust his decisions, ideas and expertise. They deliver high quality, professional work with very little wait time and I have been fully pleased with everything I’ve had done there. Thanks Brentwood Art & Framing Gallery!”

“One of the few last remnants of LA arts living. The whole city used to be filled with loss and art residences, galleries and coffee shops that showcased local artists. The brewery is now only for high market achieving artists who usually have a multitude of design related businesses. There are cool sentence to have had lofts there since the '90s so they still have decent prices and good culture. But the newly vacated lofts are rented out so intensely high that it really limits who their residents can be-- culturally speaking. This is not something related to just new brewery management, it's related to a city that's just overgrown its ability to facilitate the arts. But for now at lleast this still exists... for now.”

“I have lived in LA for nearly three decades and knew about this place for nearly two of them. Sadly, I never made the pilgrimage until this past week. I was by the airport and art starved. The gallery I most visit had not had a new show in some time and honestly, the last year plus have not been stellar. I carved out some time and drove down Jefferson via Culver CIty. I knew was in for something good when I started to spot some murals on route. I am always enlightened by the random happenstance of the great gift of public art when executed well. I found a space right across the street (by an amazing mural and big shout out to @trekthunderkelly. You have to visit Thinkspace to see the large wall because it is not online! I had no idea what to expect as per size and scope. I don't like to spoil visits by looking at the show online. I was really pleased by the size very spacious and a very strong mix of low brow (reminiscent of my prior favorite gallery via former curator from years back). I found a new artist that immediately went to the top ten tier of low brow artists. I brow beat myself for not coming sooner but I do live over in the Valley and I have a demanding job and business on the side so, I have to give myself some reprieve. The fact of the matter is there are a lot of galleries and sometimes even ones I don't visit will have someone I really like and so, some is left to chance but this gallery seems to deliver consistent top quality and name 'loow brow' artists. I will make more of an effort to drop into more shoes when out near West LA because I would deem it worthwhile and also add in some art hunting while in this uninvestigated (at least by me) area. The neighborhood is gentrified and gives a Los Feliz meets Highland Park (York Blvd) vibe. You hit pay dirt if this is your scene.”

“Jeffrey Deitch Gallery on Orange Drive in Los Angeles is one of the most dynamic spaces in the city and tonight’s visit for the opening of It Smells Like Girl confirmed why it remains essential. The gallery at 925 N. Orange Drive has the scale and clarity to showcase large works, yet the curation always feels intimate and purposeful.

The exhibition itself is both beautiful and provocative, a collaboration with Company Gallery in New York. It brings together over 30 women artists exploring ideas around hysteria, emotion, repression, performance, and power. Walking through the space, you feel each room asking new questions, balancing quiet reflection with bold confrontation. Nadia Lee Cohen’s installation centered on “Mother” was especially striking, pulling you into a hyper real world that is cinematic, unsettling, and unforgettable. Martine Syms and Juliana Huxtable also stood out with work that carried weight and urgency, tackling identity and representation in ways that demand attention.

One of the surprises for me was a charcoal work by Robert Longo rendered in such staggering detail it echoed the energy of a Pollock yet with total control of form. The contrast between the chaos of gesture and the precision of light and shadow was mesmerizing.

The crowd was as much a part of the experience as the art itself. The opening drew serious collectors, curators, and artists, the recognizable faces of the Los Angeles art scene, making the night feel like a cultural event. Deitch continues to create shows that matter, that leave you charged and inspired. It Smells Like Girl is a must see and Jeffrey Deitch Gallery is one of the city’s true treasures.”

“I went to the Wisdome LA Art Gallery and had a great time exploring the different exhibits. The gallery is truly an immersive and one-of-a-kind experience that engages all of your senses. The art installations were visually stunning and thought-provoking, displaying a diverse range of styles and mediums. The light and sound shows were especially impressive, adding a dynamic and interactive element to the exhibits. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing us with interesting information about the art and answering any questions we had. The gallery is also ideally positioned with abundant parking, making it easily accessible. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that some of the exhibits felt a bit repetitive after a while. Still, I definitely recommend”

“Scott is genuinely one of the most talented, kind, thoughtful, connected & magical artists I have ever come across. He appreciates what it means to create a piece together and takes his time to consider if he's really the right fit and can honour your vision.

He has such a great way of editing a vision with skill and kindness to ensure it is ALL you want and more. My first piece by him continues to carry the energy of creation & brings me joy everyday. The strength power, movement and detail of my piece is unmatched and fits my body perfectly. He's also so great at knowing how to ensure the piece lives well with your body and where you envision it being.

His ability to create art on the skin canvas, as though it were an oil painting, is truly phenomenal.

It is a gift beyond measure to live the rest of your days with his creations. I cannot recommend Scott enough. A true rare talent in the world who will leave you grateful, speechless & in absolute wonder & awe.”

“I’ve taken many, many classes at The Institute for Art and Olfaction at this point, and I think I’ve managed to work my way through just about every teacher. I can genuinely say I’ve enjoyed every one of them.

What makes this place so special is that you don’t simply learn about perfumery. You smell, formulate, experiment, make mistakes, change your mind, smell again, and somehow walk out understanding fragrance differently than when you walked in.

Most recently I took Shades of Blue and Shades of Yellow with Saskia Wilson-Brown, the founder and lovely owner of the Institute. These classes are brilliant because Saskia asks you to forget, for a moment, what a perfume is “supposed” to smell like and instead asks: What does a color smell like?

Blue and Yellow could not have been more different. You’re given this beautifully curated palette of materials and then challenged to translate something visual and emotional into scent. Saskia has a wonderful way of teaching that gives you enough direction to understand what you’re doing without telling you what you’re supposed to create. That freedom is where the magic happens.

Then there was Banana Accord with Julianne Lee, which was ridiculously fun. We explored banana from green and barely ripe to creamy, sweet, tropical and candy-like, then learned how to actually construct the illusion ourselves. There were even banana sodas involved. Because apparently serious perfume education occasionally requires soda.

And then there is Citrus: Raw to Refined with Jeffrey Paul.

I hesitate to say Jeff puts the other teachers to shame because the teachers here are genuinely amazing... but the man BAKED US A CAKE WITH BERGAMOT.

I mean, come on.

Julianne brought banana sodas and I thought the bar had been set. Then Jeff walked in with a homemade bergamot cake. 😂 The banana sodas never stood a chance.

Joking aside, that little detail actually says something important about the teaching at IAO. These instructors don't just lecture about aromatic materials. They find ways to make you understand them, experience them and remember them.

Whether you are completely new to fragrance or already working seriously with materials, there is something to learn here. I've taken beginner classes, accord classes, material-focused classes and conceptual classes, and I continue to leave with something I didn't know when I walked in.

And perhaps my favorite thing about IAO is that curiosity seems to matter more than ego. Perfumery can be an intimidating world. The Institute somehow manages to take the craft seriously without taking itself too seriously.

That is a rare combination.

Saskia has created something genuinely special in Los Angeles: part perfume school, part laboratory, part art space and part playground for people who cannot stop wondering what the world smells like.

I keep signing up for classes.

At this point, that is probably the best review I can give.”
