“I was given an almost brand new Samsung phone by a family member. They used it briefly in the US and then in Brazil. My phone was on its last legs.The IMEI # identified the phone as locked by Sprint (now T-Mobile, which happens to be my carrier now).
I went to a T-Mobile store in Mary Brickell Village (great service), they couldn't figure it out so I called their tech support (they were excellent but couldn't ID the issue). They transferred me to Samsung (who were also excellent but couldn't ID the issue).
I searched online and even communicated with one of these remote unlocking services. Sent them the IMEI # and they advised that they couldn't unlock the phone.
I finally decided that I needed to have someone actually look at it and randomly pick 7Wireless and call Michael. Out of the gate, I feel immediate high client services in his approach. I arrive and that same high level of service was felt.
He quotes me (higher than I was hoping but much cheaper than buying a new phone which I needed. Understandable because this was clearly a deeper issue than a simple unlock and because Sprint was now defunct, although both of us still thought that it was just an unlock).
I agree and leave the phone for a couple of days. In between time Michael is communicating via text keeping me updated. Most importantly he gives me confirmation that the issue has been resolved and the phone is ready for pick up and use.
I arrive and he explains that it wasn't that the phone was unlocked but rather that there was a circuit issue related to the sim card (any sim card). Whenever a sim card was installed, the phone would automatically kick into airplane mode). He corrected the issue, to my considerable relief. I was already married to the phone. =)
In my banter with Michael he shares that he was a telecom engineer in Cuba.
The point being, I believe that I could have taken my phone to a bunch of phone repair dealers and few, if any, would have taken the time or had the knowledge to ID and fix the issue. I have no doubt that I would have received a bunch of "sorry can't fix it, can't unlock it, your out of luck" responses. Michael's level of technical knowledge and curiosity to ID the issue is why I now have a fully operational new phone.
I can't speak highly enough about the service I received and, for anyone who might not speak Spanish (me), not an issue here which I was a little surprised by given the shops location. If you need a phone unlocked or anything that requires a technical expert, go here. It was worth the drive.”
