The dresses are for a destination beach wedding later this winter, so we knew this would be our last chance. After an entire day in the mall with no real luck, she said our only hope was Zumel's. She was not wrong. All the bright colours, prints, one-of-a-kind, standout pieces are here. Forever. I feel like no matter the season, this store will feature pieces that not only create a statement, but will remain forever pieces given their balance of originality and timelessness. As a curvy girl, I've never met a more accommodating team in the entire city. Some places have dismissed me, and some don't carry XL or larger. I'm 35. I want to feel young and hot, I don't want to cover up, or wear spanx forever. Shopping in Toronto can be disheartening, but this store gave me hope. I was upfront upon arrival that I lean L/XL and right away they found options, helped me pinpoint the aesthetic, and stayed true to what made me feel beautiful. Thank you Zumel! “This place is so cool! I went over the weekend, and it was superrrr busy. I honestly felt bad for the staff because there weren’t a ton of people working, and they were running around trying to help everyone. I definitely think they should consider having more staff on weekends!
I was a little hesitant to come back just because of how busy it was, but I called to find out when it’s usually less crowded. I spoke with the most fun customer service rep ever! (I usually don’t love calling places because, in my past experience, it hasn’t always been helpful.) She encouraged me to come back during the weekdays when it’s a bit less busy and helped me narrow down some options.
I believe her name was Tip, and I just have to give her a shoutout for being so helpful, friendly, and encouraging me to come back! (((: I really hope she’s there when I return because I’d love for her to help me again!

“I drove 7 hours to Papilio from the States three times over and have zero regrets. I found Papilio online years ago and fell in love with their elegant yet softly delicate styles. I knew I would be looking for matches to their style if I didn’t go to them and decided to come in instead of wasting time at other boutiques.
From the first appointment of choosing a dress, to the fitting appointment, to final fitting and pick up, Papilio was a pleasure to work with. Private appointments were peaceful and I never felt rushed through the selection or alteration process, unlike other boutiques I tried and found to be pushy on style and price.
The result was a delicate and beautifully stunning gown - a dream come true. Every concern and question was met with attention and clarity. The seamstress did an incredible job hemming and touching up the gown with any follow up requests I had. This gown truly fit like a glove with couture quality and all my friends agreed my three trips had been worth it!
I highly recommend taking some photos of your dress during fittings to see how it photographs and looks from other angles. The photos were very helpful to come back to when you’re a bit more clearheaded and help communicate about desired alterations. Papilio was a wonderful and patient partner through the whole process and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!”
