What I like is when you ask them a question about a product such as the one I just purchased, usually they or one the other workers have the same product and give me their honest opinion on it. And in turn I feel confident about the product I am buying.

“Actual amazing experience. These guys were so friendly and helpful. My Audi had its door hinges hyperextended and couldn’t close. They quoted me $150 for a couple of hours’ labor, assuming they didn’t find any other damage. Fixed it the next morning for $112. Speeds came recommended by my dad and his next-door neighbor, who both had similarly great experiences here.”

“I was the recipient of my first fender bender. I had heard a lot of horror stories about repair shops as I went in for 3 different quotes. Maaco PDX was my last stop , and I knew within 10 minutes that I was in good hands.
Mark and Joe walked me out to my car, did the inspection asked a few questions and gave me a quote quite a bit lower than the other two. Also some of the things they pointed out to me, contradicted some of the statements of the other shops, that I had questioned in my mind. Plus the repair timeline was approx 2 days as opposed to 7 to 10 days for the other shops.
But the number one reason I’d recommend Maaco PDX is their knowledge, integrity, honesty, and follow through. I felt as if I could trust them, and they didn’t let me down. I’d recommend them to anyone who needs assistance, they’ll come through for you. They know their business and they are simply awesome!”

“I recently ordered a Platypus License plate holder from them for my RS3. Unfortunately, it kept setting off my sensors no matter how much I adjusted it.
I sent them an email in regards to what was going on and a gentleman named Tony was willing to help me out. He sent me different variations of the License Plate holder so that I could test them out and see what version would not set off my sensors.
After a bit of tweaking and adjusting, everything worked out without any issues.
They were extremely fast to respond and even faster to help. If I could give this company a 6 star rating, I would. They stand by their product and are willing to make sure you are 200% satisfied.”

“Had an issue with my 2014 Touareg as it had a loose chrome strip that sits under the tailgate and on top of tfd bumper. No idea how it came loose. I lived near mackin auto body for years but never had a reason to come jn, but thought I'd stop in and see if they could reasonably pop this thing back into place. Joey took a look at it, brought over Ryan who was clearly a body man and Ryan took the strip off, tried to pop it in, which wasn't really effective, so he took it away, cleared and hit it with a little epoxy and popped it in like it was supposed to be. Did it gratis, which we weren't expecting. Super nice folks, ready go help and we're ready to send all the folks who need body work here. Thanks Ryan and Joey, and Mackin Auto Body.”

“Great shop. After getting a lot of misinformation about AC systems in older cars I found Mac's. I learned a lot about AC talking to James and Patrick at the Portland shop. Mac's was able to fabricate hoses that are no longer available. If you want your AC repair done correctly, this is the shop for you. They also have R12.”

“***** Five Stars to Burnside Collision, which I highly recommend if your car needs body work. My 12 year-old car had an unfortunate scrape with a concrete parking block which it lost resulting in the shredding of my fender liner, breaking of connectors that held the bumper to the left front side panel, and the dislodging/breakage of one fog light and one headlight washer.
The first two places I took the car to wanted well over $2,000 to repair the damage largely because of the cost of replacing the fog light (which I’ve never used) and the headlight washer which I didn’t care about (I didn’t even know I had one and can wash the headlight by hand).
Burnside Collision understood that I didn’t want to spend one-quarter to one-third of the value of my car to repair relatively minor damage (the car still ran fine). They installed a new fender liner, reattached the fender to the side panel, put the dislodged fog light and headlight washer back in place (albeit non-functional) for less than $400. They even gave me a free car wash that was the equivalent of detailing the outside. And the work was done in one day once the part came in.
They understood what I needed and wanted and charged me a reasonable price for the work. I highly recommend them to you.”
“Can't recommend PRE enough. I had them install some basic bolt-on aftermarket parts but I wanted to keep my original parts. They went above and beyond, fabricating bespoke cardboard packaging and loading it all into the car for when I arrived. A few weeks later, I had a few minor issues with the aftermarket parts and was able to get back in quickly for some follow-up adjustments. The team is responsive, knowledgeable, helpful, and fantastic to work with.”
“I had a great experience with Subaru of Portland purchasing a used 2014 Subaru Forester. Before I finalized the purchase and paid for the vehicle, we discovered an issue with the A/C compressor. Subaru of Portland replaced the compressor at their cost before completing the sale.
The manager was extremely professional, caring, and genuinely concerned about making sure everything was taken care of properly. I really appreciated that they stood behind a used vehicle and took care of the problem instead of trying to push the sale through and leave me dealing with it afterward.
Everyone I dealt with was professional and responsive, and they made sure the Forester was ready to go before I took possession.
That kind of customer service, honesty, and willingness to make things right goes a long way. I would definitely recommend Subaru of Portland and would feel comfortable doing business with them again.”

I notice the communication, the professionalism, the cleanliness, how the customer is treated—and, most importantly, whether the people actually seem to care.
That’s why I was so impressed with Active Auto Body on NW Couch Street.
Emily is absolutely fantastic. She has that rare combination of professionalism, personality, and genuine customer service that makes you think, “Yep… somebody here actually knows what they’re doing.” She always keeps me informed and is incredibly pleasant to deal with and made the process far less painful than having to look at the repair estimate in the first place!
And then there’s Rich, the owner. You can tell pretty quickly when an owner is actually involved in the business versus someone who just happens to own the building. Rich takes pride in his shop, his people, and the work that leaves the facility. That attitude trickles down—and you can see it in the way customers are treated.
Having spent decades on the service-drive side of the automotive business, I can tell you that good body shops are easy to find; GREAT body shops are a different animal. Active Auto Body is one of the great ones.
Professional people, excellent communication, quality work, and an owner who actually gives a damn. What more could you ask for?
