“Love this place. I go mostly for the onigiri ?, but also get Japanese-grocery provision: miso, wasabi, materials for making sushi, red bean mochi. Very lucky to have this place near by.”

“I have always cherished the authentic culinary delights from Phoenicia Bakery & Deli. Among these, the homemade kibbeh has always held a special place in my heart. Its perfect blend of finely ground meat, bulgur, and spices, all lovingly hand-shaped and cooked to perfection, offered not just a meal but an experience that spoke of tradition and quality. Recently, I've noticed the shift to offering frozen kibbeh, and while it serves as a decent substitute, it doesn't quite capture the essence of the fresh version. The frozen kibbeh, though convenient and satisfactory in moments of craving, lacks the freshness, the distinct textures, and the warmth of homemade kibbeh that I've come to love and expect. I understand the challenges and pressures that might lead to such a decision, but I can't help but express how much the homemade kibbeh is missed. It was more than just food; it was a testament to the care, authenticity, and culinary excellence that Phoenicia Bakery & Deli represents. I kindly urge you to consider bringing back the homemade kibbeh. Its return would not only delight many of your patrons but also reaffirm Phoenicia Bakery & Deli's dedication to providing genuine, high-quality cuisine that connects us to culture and tradition in every bite. Thank you for taking the time to consider this request, and I eagerly await the day I can once again savor the unparalleled taste of your homemade kibbeh.”

“Just realized I hadn’t reviewed one of my very favorite shops in Austin! The wine selection here is incredibly special, and to say that the owner is knowledgeable about food and wine is a serious understatement. Great selection of NA beverages too, and at reasonable prices. Grateful to have this in the neighborhood!”

“Great little shop with a huge selection of goods. Every time we are in town we visit this shop. The staff is always polite, and helpful. The locatin of this shop is perfect, we stop at this shop to avoid going to a busier less clean typical convenience store. I don't have a problem going out of my way to stop at this location, It is a much better shopping experience and I'm always in and out in a matter of minutes, plus it's one of the cleanest stores I've been in.”

“I had to check out this place while I was in the area. They have a little bit of everything - coffee, deli, general small grocery, wine, beer, novelties, and memorabilia. The clerks were great. Totally recommend.”

“Unless your grandma works there you're not going to find any better tortillas. I live over an hour north of this store, which means I have to leave the house pretty early in the morning to make it there by 0700, and deal with some of the idiots on I-35. But Y'all ! the tortillas and the nopal salad are worth it.”

“Lovely little kosher purveyor. It's nice to have this place in North Austin for excellent Israeli condiments, pita, holiday necessities etc. you don't have to keep kosher or be Jewish to find something great here. They sell A&H Hit Dogs which I guarantee are the BEST hot dog commercially available in the United States. Trader Joe's used to have them they don't anymore. L'Chaim.”

“Its a feat of advanced engineering and logistical genius that a store so small can have so much. Bluebonnets shelves are stacked with everything you may need whether that be food, wine or hardware. One of the best small store wine offerings I've seen in the area combined with an eclectic beer selection. Where can you find a convenience store which had nicorrete, captain crunch , duct tape, incense and an Argentinian Malbec. The secret of this spot though is the hot food from the kitchen. The owners are fantastic and friendly.Prices are steep but what do you expect from a small convenience store with this quality and inventory.”

“I've came here many times over the years. It's always consistent. I've lived in the south mostly so it's definitely location wise. Good for me, but the store is always clean. Everything is always consistent as central market does along with new things and pop-ups along the way and everybody loves to have a free tasting. I'll come here often but most definitely come in heavy when it's special occasion because the butcher counter seafood counter, you can't be anywhere will definitely continue to come back and enjoy the great service as they help you with everything in the store..”

“This is one of the cleanest DGs in the area. 1 star taken off just because my parked car got hit by some girl backing up at the store's parking lot. She apologized and let me take a picture of her driver's license and insurance card. Certainly not the store's fault, but that single incident will make me hesitate to visit the store next time.”

“Best egg salad sandwich I’ve ever had! I had never been or ordered but on a whim, I ordered this particular sandwich to be delivered. I fell in love, it’s so fresh & delicious. It was put together so neatly & wrapped in brown paper. I also would like to call attention to the nice staff. I was having issues ordering again so I called to inquire about the egg salad. Jesse let me know they still had some & I let her know I was having issues. So she offered to take an order for me for pick up. Lovely store on south Congress, I will definitely be going back to explore all it has to offer soon.”

“TJ's is a little piece of heaven and I am finding myself coming back here weekly. I'm a little bummed I haven't been coming sooner, but I'm here now! Not only are prices superb, but they have such a wide variety of offerings. Their fresh produce, florals, proteins, and just about everything is way below cost compared to other grocery stores. A few of my fave items from Trader Joe's are their chicken soup dumplings, frozen edamame bags, belgium chocolates, asiago cheese dip, roast beef, garlic hummus, and gnocchi. Let's be honest they have so many things that it's just about hard to not fill up your grocery cart with everything lol I'll be a fan of Trader Joe's and yes if you do freeze their food and put it into a freeze bag with ice packs, it will travel well on a non-stop flight to El Paso for your family.”

“I usually go to Trader Joe's for various items. They carry all kinds of stuff like produce, premade meals, frozen food, coffee choices, chips, and various other items. The store is big but not overwhelmingly huge. It's bright and clean and once you know where everything is you can get in and out of there quickly. I appreciate the friendly people that work there. They are always helpful. Checkout varies depending on how busy they are but most of the time it's pretty quick. Great grocery store.”

You can find there smoked meat products, European farmer cheese, Kefir, types of soup noodles, pickled red beets, cucumbers pickled in the European way, types of sweet stuff and chocolates, frozen European food ect....”

“I shop at Wheatsville in south Austin over other grocery stores in my area because they carry a condensed version of what I want in the way of groceries, supplements, and sundries and I can avoid giant box stores. Also important to me at Wheatsville are the helpful workers who show a kind, tolerant and helpful attitude toward me, and to the nearby houseless people that visit. They have set reasonable boundaries and show respectful regard to everyone it seems. Thanks Wheats. I love you.”
