1933 San Elijo Ave, CardiffI’ve been here before and absolutely love their eggplant parmigiana. It has lots of eggplant and is put together so well. Flavor is excellent. The accompanying vegetables were perfectly seasoned and cooked, not overcooked and the pasta was excellent.
This is a shout out for Facundo, on the wait staff, who is such a nice man. He is attentive, responsive and very friendly. He was my “go to” when I needed the patio umbrella adjusted to keep the sun off our backs, more water or wanted our leftovers bagged up. Those little things, done with integrity and dedication, made our visit so much more pleasant. Thank you, Facundo. I hope we meet again.

Fish 101
2101 San Elijo Ave, CardiffA wide range of fresh, high quality fish served in various form factors. The fish & chips were very good, with good quality cod (I think) and fresh cut fries that were reasonably crispy. But the batter was a bit too thick and salty for my taste. The side of tartar sauce was bland and needed a kick of sriracha and lemon.
The Mahi three taco plate was very good and a fair value with decent sized pieces of fish and a tasty crema on the finely shredded cabbage and tomatoes. But the tortillas were too dry, which is inexplicable given the myriad great tortillerias in the region.
Service was fast and efficient, and the ambience bustling with people jam-packed together scarfing their food. I really appreciate their ongoing excellent health inspection reports.

We had a bit of a mixed experience here. We arrived on time for our reservation, but unfortunately our table wasn’t ready. After waiting about 10 minutes, we asked if we could just be seated at another available table. Once seated, service was pretty slow and the whole ordering process felt unnecessarily drawn out. It took a while for our waitress to come over, and we weren’t able to order our main courses until after the appetizers were finished. Overall, it made dinner feel much more time-consuming than it needed to be, and we definitely would have appreciated more attentive service.
That being said, the food had some serious highlights. If you order ONE thing, make it the Caesar salad. The croutons were fried to absolute perfection and somehow had dressing inside of them?! I will genuinely be dreaming about this salad. Easily the star of the meal.
The whipped ricotta was good, although there was a lot going on flavor-wise and it had a spicy component I wasn’t expecting. The scallops were seared to perfection, and the lamb chops came with the most delicious potatoes and a spicy Peruvian-style sauce that paired really well with them. The salmon was also incredibly fresh and cooked perfectly.
Overall, the kitchen absolutely delivered, but the service and pacing could use some improvement. I’d come back for that Caesar salad alone!
