Pet Care

Academy Animal Hospital
741 Academy Dr, Solana BeachAcademy Animal Hospital has been taking care of our pets for 20 years. When our schnauzer, Willie, finally (at age 14) had to be put down, Dr. Beccari felt as bad as I did. All the employees are so helpful. Danny, the vet tech, is knowledgeable and caring. We always get a follow-up call. Our Winnie loved all the people there and they helped us manage her cancer.. And now Sammy the Schnauzer enjoys his visits with Dr. Reimann. I would recommend Academy to anyone.

Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital
971 Lomas Santa Fe Dr Suite A, Solana BeachThank you Rancho Santa Fe Vet, for the excellent care! This past week my puppy, Roo, swallowed a pin. The veterinary staff fit us in their schedule right away. After 3 days of my dog not passing the pin, the staff fit us in again on a fully booked Saturday. The nurses and vet took the time to talk to me about the pros and cons of how to proceed. It turns out that Roo had also ingested a palm tree seed that was likely preventing the pin from coming out. We were very lucky that the seed was discovered and didn't cause a serious blockage, requiring surgery. Roo is now pin and seed free.

Pillbox Tavern
117 Plaza St, Solana BeachI cannot say enough good things about Pillbox. We used to live nearby so made a habit of watching the sun set at Fletcher’s Cove and then stopping in for a bite. We now live in Chicago but come back to Solana annually to visit our favorite places…the service is outstanding and the food is on point. I love wings and the Old Bay dry rub wings are probably the best wings I’ve EVER had. Don’t miss out on this local spot!

Morning Lavender Boutique & Cafe
329 S Hwy 101 Suite 120, Solana BeachCurrently (March 29th)… I JUST found out that this place is closing. I’m so heartbroken. ? I just started coming more often for coffee in the morning before work. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous, bathrooms are super cute and clean, seating is great, and I’ve never had any issue with staff. This really was such a great place to just hang out, so sad to see it go.

Lofty Coffee Solana Beach Cafe
132 S Cedros Ave, Solana BeachTruly fantastic coffee. I’m a New Yorker and truthfully Californians just don’t seem to do coffee well. Drip coffee seems to have America in a chokehold and getting a great espresso or any derivative of such (cortado, flat white, etc.) is worthless. We happend upon Lofty coffee and my boyfriend ordered the cortado. It came out perfect. To describe it in words would do it an injustice but I will still attempt: the espresso itself was so smooth and mixed with the milk perfectly - there was no separation at all. The milk was delicate - steamed but not airy nor watered down. The whole drink experience was so velvety - almost like sipping straight warmed cream. Truly I’ve never experienced anything like it.
I’m a daily coffee drinker and am deeply heartbroken I can’t have a Lofty’s cortado daily at home. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

The Naked Cafe
106 S Sierra Ave, Solana BeachThe Naked Cafe serves delicious food. The morning we visited was very chaotic, saying they were short staffed. One staff member got a little snippy with a customer asking where to wait as there was no hostess. It was awkward for the people already seated. Their Encinitas location seems less busy and the staff seems less stressed and more friendly.

Bangkok Bay Thai Restaurant
731 S, Hwy 101 # 1B1, Solana BeachWe were on a long weekend holiday and staying at the Marriott nextdoor and found this treasure of a restaurant.
5 stars! I know you think it's a fake review and I hardly ever give a 5 star review. However, this Thai restaurant deserves it. First, the food is so astronamically delicious. We've been eating Thai food for over 20+ years. You choose your own level of spiciness from 1 -10. We like ours around 6 or 7, and they delivered! The drunken noodle and pad Thai noodle are perfection, soft, chewy, and with tons of flavor. I ordered the sparagus and shrimp dish. Wow, that was a surprise. I was trying to figure out the season/sauce the whole time I was eating it as I've never had anything similar to it.
The service is top notch. They greet you at the door and are very attentive all the way through your dining experience. We went early, maybe around 5:30. The restaurant quickly filled up soon after that. People were waiting and I saw tons of to go orders being picked up. We ate dinner left and we returned for dessert 2nhours later.
This restaurant is in a small shopping center on ground floor. It's tucked away in the corner. There is plenty of parking in the shopping center parking lot.
