Muddy Paws
2624 El Camino Real, CarlsbadToday was our first day at Muddy Paws. I called and they were able to fit me in for a nail trim pretty last minute, although they said they did require an appointment ahead of time (so I guess no drop ins). I called to let them know my dog has anxiety and asked if two people could work on him (one reassuring him while the other cut the nails) and was told they could do whatever my dog needed. They also said I could bring in my dogs favorite treat to try and use for distraction. When we arrived I explained the situation to the women in the salon (I spoke to a man on the phone)--that this was my dogs first nail trim and that he is timid and has some anxiety, and also that I am a little bit of a Helicoptor mom! He is a rescue pup and I worry about him. They were very understanding! Monique loved on and distracted my dog while Brianna, the owner, performed the nail trim. Monique was super sweet to my dog! Very focused on him. Brianna got right to it and most importantly cut his nails with no injuries, but she was also very fast. They cut the nails and then dremmeled them so they don't splinter. The cost was $23 which was WELL worth it! SO much better than me stressing out trying to do it myself and probably hurting my dog bc I don't know what I'm doing. The whole process was great! Great trim with no injuries, fast, reasonable price. I have the ladies a nice tip bc they deserve it!! Thank you for taking your time with my pup. We will be back

He was a huge hit at my super bowl party and beyond. I will be back for sure!

Bressi Ranch Pet Hospital
2700 Gateway Rd, CarlsbadI am posting the following information in hopes that as many dog owners as possible will benefit.... I have no experience with the doctors or staff at Bressi Ranch Pet Hospital and assume they are outstanding. I do have experience with CALIFORNIA VETERINARY SPECIALISTS IN CARLSBAD that I hope other dog owners will find useful. The doctors and staff at that facility are knowledgeable, caring, and professional. Dr. Ogilvie is no exception. His knowledge of oncologic disorders and ability to relate it to his patients are outstanding; he is kind and caring. HOWEVER, if your dog has developed enlarged lymph nodes and is believed to have lymphoma/leukemia, take particular care with your approach to treatment. If your dog requires a biopsy, specifically ask Dr. Ogilvie (or whichever oncologist you chose) to apply their great knowledge of the anatomy and select the safest node to biopsy. Ask them to take particular care to make sure the biopsy needle remains within the mass of the node so as not to inadvertently pass through and injury an artery. If this happens, your dog, especially if small, may lose massive amounts of blood quickly and go into shock. This may not be readily apparent since the blood loss will be internal. Naturally, you and the staff will want to attempt resuscitation in the ICU, but this will not be successful. It is especially difficult to resuscitate most animals once they are in extremis. The bill will be large (many thousands of dollars) and you will desperately leave without your pet. NOTE: this sort of thing can happen in ANY veterinary office and with any procedure. As a neurosurgeon, I am sadly familiar with the pain and reality of both avoidable and unavoidable complications of operations and procedures. All doctors experience complications in their careers. Some are avoidable. Surgeons that perform many operations often repeatedly perform the same relatively simple procedures. It is human nature for these to become rote. This diminishes focus and can result in a devastating avoidable complication. One last thing: if your dog has developed enlarged lymph nodes and does not rapidly deteriorate and pass on within a few weeks, you may wish to avoid treatment entirely (you can discuss this with your veterinary oncologists). Many cases of lymphoma are indolent; on rare occasions there can even be spontaneous remission. There are also many less conventional treatment options, like high-dose vitamin C and ozone therapy that, while not proven effective, may be just as effective as and much less risky than conventional chemotherapeutic regimens. This approach obviates the need for a risky biopsy procedure altogether and may prolong your time with your pet. Best wishes! E. Thomas Chappell, MD (Neurosurgery) Elvia Orrillo Blas, MD (Emergency Medicine)

Dolorico Terri DVM
7730 Rancho Santa Fe Rd # 104, CarlsbadI cannot begin to thank the Canyon Creek Animal Hospital Staff and Dr. Hall enough for how they helped our pup and our family in a very very stressful time. After just 3 weeks of having our dog he managed to swallow a very large rock, began throwing up, and was very lethargic. We brought him in to see Dr. Hall who examined him, advised us of all our options, and helped us make a well informed decision in a very scary time. Dr. Hall prioritized the health of our dog, re-arranged her schedule, and rushed our pup into surgery so that we could have the best possible outcome. And with all of that she still gave us a detailed breakdown of cost and helped to make it as affordable as possible. If you're looking for a great vet who cares about the animals and their owners this is the place to go!

Djordjevich Zoran DVM
2505 S Vista Way, CarlsbadThere just are no words I can say to express my gratitude to and for Dr George. We discovered him back in 2019 when we decided to get hip replacement for our, at the time, 8 1/2 year old German Shepherd. He did such an excellent job that we got her other hip replaced as well, a couple of years later. Last year we went back to him and he removed two tumors that she had developed in her hind quarter. Last week we saw our Bailey was having a very hard time pooping. We took her to a local vet here in Los Angeles and they told us that she had a mass just outside of her colon and that we needed to find an oncologist. No oncologist here in Los Angeles could see her until the end of January. We called Mohnacky in Carlsbad and they got Bailey in that Tuesday. Dr George went over the X-rays with us and showed us that she had a giant tumor that was crushing her colon and her bladder, and there were blood vessels attached to the tumor. He told us emergency surgery was needed. We left Bailey there in their care and drove all the way back to Los Angeles, terrified that at 12 and a half years old, she wouldn't make it through the surgery. She stayed in the hospital for three nights and we called to check on her several times throughout each day. The staff also took pictures of her and sent those to us and they put us on speakerphone so that Bailey could hear our voices. We picked her up today and even though it was Dr George's day off, he came in to the hospital to talk to us personally about the surgery and Bailey's care going forward. We love this doctor. He has saved Bailey's life yet again, and for the rest of her life, we will continue to take her down to see Dr George for anything serious. He is brilliant, talented, gifted, compassionate, and he is our hero. We are forever grateful to Dr. George and the wonderful staff at Mohnacky Hospital in Carlsbad.

Had a great personality and was just an all-around good guy. We signed up for a service contract because of him and the service he gave us he is a credit to ASI, and I hope they treat him well And hold onto him. When I signed up for the service contract, I did it with the stipulation that he would be my technician.
