Bow Wow Meow
737 Laurel St, San CarlosThey are always very welcoming and they really take care of my dog. He comes out looking stellar from his grooming appointment and he's not stressed out at the end of his visit, which has happened at other places. I'll continue to come back and highly recommend them for your dog grooming needs.

Pet Care

Animal Dental Clinic
987 Laurel St, San CarlosI've had my dog's teeth cleaned at VCA before, but this time I had concerns about a tooth that looked grey, so I brought him to Animal Dental Clinic for cleaning, x-rays, and potential treatment.
The difference was night and day. They treated my dog exceptionally well and walked me through every tooth and x-ray via FaceTime during the procedure. The level of care felt more like visiting a top human dentist than a standard vet.
I worked with both Dr. Farcas and he was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. When I mentioned my dog's skin gets irritated when shaved (he licks the spot for weeks), they found a way to place the IV without shaving his leg.
I also appreciated that Dr. Farcas was knowledgeable about the MDR1 gene mutation common in Australian Shepherds and took extra precautions with anesthesia protocols because of it. It gave me real peace of mind knowing they understood the specific risks for my dog's breed and weren't just using a one-size-fits-all approach. That level of specialized knowledge makes a big difference when your dog is going under.
The tooth that worried me turned out to be just plaque from crowding, which they cleaned thoroughly.
It costs more than a general vet, but the expertise and individualized care are absolutely worth it. Highly recommend for anyone with dental concerns beyond a routine clean

Veterinary Vision Animal Eye Specialists
210 Industrial Rd Unit 100, San CarlosLovely! Front desk staff was so nice, as was the veterinarian. They efficiently diagnosed my bunny's eye issue, as well as picked up on an additional eye issue I hadn't even come in for. Would go again if needed!

Holiday Kennels
221 Old County Rd, San CarlosLeaving your dogs for a few days is not easy for anybody, especially when your dogs are very close to you as April and Bianca are to me and my wife. However, Holiday Kennels does a great job taking care of them. For that reason, we wouldn’t leave them in any other boarding. Rusty and the rest of the team are amazing. Our dogs love them! During weekends, my wife and I send them messages asking for pictures, and they will send them right away! The bath and nails service is also really good (and the best price in the neighborhood).

Smilin Dogs
251 Old County Rd, San CarlosThough Sheba wasn’t too sure about smilin dogs, it was her first time there and she could not see me anywhere. I will try again

Andy's Boarding Place
217 Old County Rd, San CarlosWe have a particularly anxious dog and were nervous about how he’d do at a new daycare place, but Kevin’s wonderful care quickly put any fears to rest. After only one stay, our dog jumped on Kevin and wagged his tail right away. He feels safe and loved while in Kevin’s care. Thank you, Kevin!

663 Laurel St, San CarlosMy wife and I found this special place last night. Farm to Table food was incredibly well crafted and delicious. And it was paired with a very good wine. Henry definitely offers a person touch, and there was a special appearance by his son, Cedar, who is a very bright and creative boy. We loved our time there and will definitely return!

Devil's Canyon Brewing Company
935 Washington St, San CarlosBest root beer Bay Area at least I think so. Enjoy their beer Fridays with food truck and live music. Their Whinsey Market nights are always on enjoyable, though need more variety or turn over vendors. Otherwise it becomes repetitive shopping
Tried their Grainbakers class, highly recommend for bread making.

Hakkai Nigiri Bar & Tapas
1070 Holly St, San CarlosI cannot wait to go back! This place has very fresh sushi and so much more. I brought my team for Holiday lunch celebration and they did not disappoint. We ordered the brussels sprouts and the beet salad along with the duck for starters. The waiter steered us to also get the ribeye and we are glad we did. We ordered a second one! Everything was phenomenal. We had an assortment of nigiri and rolls which were so fresh. I should also mention it was the perfect atmosphere for a holiday celebration and so cute inside. This place will impress, don't let the strip mall fool you!

Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard
740 El Camino Real, San CarlosGood but very expensive.
Consider similar yummy World Brands sold in Super Markets for $ 4 to 5 for 4 to 5 times the quantity sold at Rita's.
Prices must come down drastically for the Lower Middle Class to enjoy a day out.

Johnston's Saltbox
1696 Laurel St, San CarlosSolid restaurant for a nice night out. Not an over the top fine dining but I wouldn't expect it for the price point. But the food was good, the service was good, the price was right so it checked all the boxes. Would definitely recommend
