Cashy's Playpen
1292 Coast Village Rd, Santa BarbaraLiterally in love. Such a fun, high quality pet store. You'll find items you couldn't even dream of! AND you get to support local. My pup Poppy pics her Cashys Playpen toys over all the others and loves her Barefoot Dreams Bed! Shop owner is so kind and works so hard, she is dedicated to top quality products that are safe and healthy for our pups. I see some reviews about her being on the phone and I just want to point out that she runs this shop on her own, having very few employees and there is so much that goes into it! Her pup greets other dogs with his vocal charm, and his rainbow ball, always down to play! I love this shop and will always support.

Pet Care
Cat and Bird Clinic
101 W Mission St, Santa BarbaraI brought my cat in for a second opinion on her chronically irritated eye that numerous previous vets have all attributed to feline herpes. They have all said it is largely untreatable and just something she will always deal with.Dr. Grunewald did a general exam and then did a swab test to determine the cause, which no other vet has even offered to me before now. The results showed that she may not have herpes at all, but has a parasitic infection that could be treated with antibiotics. We also discovered that she has struvites and had a UTI that we began treating. Throughout this process, Dr. Grunewald and the entire staff has been so friendly, responsive and helpful. They send texts to update you on test results, provide advice, adjust treatment plans, and answer my (many) questions. This is so helpful and also saves you from additional (stressful!) visits to the vet with your pet.My cat is finally getting the treatment she needs and Dr. Grunewald's knowledge and thorough approach is the entire reason why. I'm so grateful to them, and I cannot recommend them enough!

Harmon Kellye DVM
138 W Ortega St, Santa BarbaraI just had to have my very elderly cat euthanized. Abbie (one of the techs) and Dr. Harmon were beyond sympathetic and caring. They were absolutely wonderful and made a horrible agonizing decision easier to make. A few days later, his 'aquamains' were ready for me to pick up. (That means they do the cremation in water instead of fire.) They were nicely boxed, and put inside an elegant drawstring bag, and included a certificate of aquamation for my cat and a wooden pendant with his pawprint. I would highly recommend this vet clinic. It's small and homey, not big and impersonal.

White's Pet Hospital
532 E Haley St, Santa BarbaraI love White's Pet Hospital. All of the vets there are excellent and professional. My vet is Dr. Andrea Reid, and she has been my vet for more than ten years. Dr. Reid is the best. She is knowledgeable, patient, and kind with both me and my dogs. She really listens to my questions and concerns, and she understands the value of a dollar and does not push unneeded diagnostics on me. I can trust her 100% to always do the right thing by me and my pets. In the past, when one of our dogs was at the end of his life, Dr. Reid and the White's staff went out of their way to prepare a room and gave us every kindness as we said goodbye to our dear Dexter. I will always remember that kindness and thank Dr. Reid and White's for that gentle and loving goodbye to our dear family member.

Dr. Christine Sellers, DVM
101 W Mission St, Santa BarbaraMr. Wheezy Cat approved!! I've had a lot of vets over the years and lived in many states and this is by far my favorite vet. Prices are really reasonable compared to other vet's I've been to and have liked way less and its an added bonus that everyone here is super awesome, friendly, kind and knowledgeable. I've been taking my cat Mr. Wheezy Cat here since we moved back into town from Santa Ynez about 2 years ago and Dr. Kelsey Grunewald always makes Wheezy feel comfortable and calm during his visits and exams. Recently he had to have a tooth extracted, and everyone was so helpful and calming before the surgery. He got sent home with some pain meds just incase but just two days later is pain free and back outside rolling in dirt and playing in flower beds living his best kitty life! I am so thankful for you all and the awesome work you do in helping our fur/feather babies stay happy and healthy. Thank you all so much!!!

624 W Carrillo St, Santa BarbaraTodd is the best... He is so good with dogs, and with people too (which is half of the equation, right?). He empowered my 76-year-old aunt to handle a (pretty crazy) 90+ lb dog safely. Then when my aunt passed away, he kindly offered to give the new owner a lesson to bring them up to speed on his training. Completely decent human being, and the training was reasonable and so worth every penny. I will look no further for training or boarding needs in the future. Thank you Todd! ??

Follow The Leader K9
333 Palm Ave, Santa BarbaraEric is a miracle worker! I came to Eric with an 8 month old puppy that is a complete goofball that just wants to have fun and do whatever he wants. I had already attended two obedience classes and my guy had made great progress, but we were hitting a wall. We’ve had four sessions with Eric and he’s always so helpful and equips me with the knowledge I need to better communicate with my trouble maker. Within three sessions, Eric had built the foundation for eliminating crying in the crate in the early hours of the morning and I’m happy to say that we are sleeping through the night in total peace. Finances are tight for me, but after watching Eric’s content on Instagram and YouTube, I could tell he knew what he was doing and didn’t hesitate to contact him. I highly recommend using Follow the Leader K9!

DOGGY BOOT CAMP-Santa Barbara
3616 Santa Maria Ln, Santa BarbaraWe Didn't Think It Could Be Done! Before I get into some of the details, here's the one sentence headline:Our training with Joe has been an unqualified success and he has done for us exactly what he said he would do. If we knew then what we know now, we would have done this ages ago.Ok, so that was two sentences, sorry. How did we get here? Our dog Enzo, five and a half at the time he started with Joe, had been under-socialized. The result was that he was reactive with other dogs - nervous about life and the world (can relate!) and had figured out that he could cause other dogs and people to leave him alone if he barked and lunged and generally acted scary. We had a neighborhood reputation of having the sort of dog where you cross the street when you see 'em. Not. Great.Enzo was amazing with us at home but since he unpredictable with others, it bred a pattern of insularity where we didn't invite people over, didn't take him to meet other dogs and the like. Enzo was alone on our little island - he was getting out to walk but not really experiencing the world the way a dog should be able to. Enzo was overly sheltered because we were nervous. If this sounds like your situation, keep reading because it doesn't have to be this way!We had done training before with, at best, so-so results. Even though it was not our first time, I don't think we realized it could be done so differently.I will say, when we first talked to Joe, our initial impression was: 'whoa, this guy is sort of hardcore'. There were rules that he told us we needed to impose if we wanted to be successful that we hadn't even thought of as problems.Nothing unreasonable but definitely changes in our regular routine and a more disciplined approach. That was new - previous trainers didn't have much to say about the big picture or changing the home life, though in retrospect, this part was critical. We met for our first day - a multi-hour session to get everything started. We didn't know what to expect but we were willing to give it a go and let him direct us. Our expectation was that it would take at least weeks to see results. We were wayyyyyy wrong. Even after that first session, we made major progress.Joe's philosophy is to help dogs be dogs and it turns out that when you swim with the tide instead of against it, things go a lot more smoothly.Enzo is a changed dog. Our lives are better and most importantly his life is much better. He's out running and playing with other dogs daily, something that we thought was impossible just weeks ago.Joe delivers and we give him a hearty recommendation.

Cat Therapy
1213 State St Suite L, Santa BarbaraA Purr-fect Experience at Kat Therapy in Santa BarbaraI recently had the opportunity to visit Kat Therapy in Santa Barbara, and I can't help but express my deep gratitude for this wonderful sanctuary. For those seeking a peaceful retreat filled with feline friends, this is the place to be. Kat Therapy isn't just a cat house; it's a haven for both humans and cats alike. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a serene atmosphere where cats roam freely, play, and nap as they please. The joy of interacting with these lovely creatures is immeasurable. It's a unique experience where you can sit and cuddle with a cat, play with a group of them, or simply observe their quirky behaviors—all while they enjoy a safe and loving environment. What's truly admirable about Kat Therapy is its mission. The cats here are adoptable, and the whole point of this establishment is to provide cat therapy while also finding forever homes for these adorable animals. The small fee for entry is a small price to pay for the happiness and relaxation you receive in return. Moreover, this fee goes directly towards the care of the cats, including their food and maintenance, ensuring that they can continue rescuing cats from shelters. The staff at Kat Therapy deserve a special mention for their dedication and the success they've achieved in the adoptions. Their passion for the welfare of these cats is evident in the way they maintain the space and care for the animals. It's clear that they are not just doing a job; they are fulfilling a calling to make a difference in the lives of both pets and people.During my visit, I was touched by the tranquility and therapeutic atmosphere that only the presence of cats can provide. It's a heartwarming experience to see cats who may have once been without a home now receiving love and attention, with the potential to join a loving family. In conclusion, Kat Therapy in Santa Barbara is more than just a cat cafe—it's a community service and a therapeutic getaway rolled into one. Whether you're a cat lover, looking for some stress relief, or considering adding a feline to your family, this place is a must-visit. You'll leave with a full heart, knowing that your patronage helps keep this beautiful cycle of rescue and adoption going. I wholeheartedly recommend Kat Therapy to anyone looking for a dose of joy and the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of these charming animals.
