When the hotel sent it back to us it came with a letter (and pictures) of the dinosaur having adventures all over the hotel. It was so sweet and my little boy LOVED it. “The Ritz-Carlton Chicago will not disappoint you, but it also will not change you — and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The staff are genuinely warm in a way that feels earned rather than scripted, and the bartenders in particular are operating at a level that makes you wonder if they’re being paid in tips or in pure personal satisfaction. Rooms are comfortable and tasteful, though “Ritz-Carlton” may be doing heavier lifting than the décor. The real sell is the location: you’re a short walk from Michigan Avenue, good restaurants, and the kind of retail that requires you to lie to your spouse about what you spent. Four stars — luxury hotel, thoroughly human bar program.”

“This was the perfect location for us! Very close to Wrigley and all of the fun bars and restaurants in the area. Our room was very spacious and comfortable! We loved having breakfast each morning and really enjoyed talking to other guests. Ashley communicated very clearly and we had no issues during our visit.”

“I have to share this amazing experience I had here at the Pendry, from the moment we pulled up our trip was destined to be great. For starters the building itself displays rich luxury. Muriel at the front desk helped us promptly after entering the lobby. We arrived several hours early so our room was not ready. She checked us in and in brief conversation acknowledged my birthday was the next day. She provided a list of things to do and how to get there. One of which was the Chris Brown-Usher concert happening later in the day that my girlfriend and I ended up thoroughly enjoying! The following day after a full day of birthday activities I came back to the room to a HAND WRITTEN MESSAGE from her and the team whizzing me a happy birthday. Full disclosure I shed a tear because who does not enjoy being made to feel special on their birthday. Muriel made sure that my stay here was fit for that of a King. The view from the room was spectacular, hotel location convenient, sheets and pillows divine, and shower luxurious. On my very likely return to Chicago I will almost certainly stay at the Pendry and if you made it this far in the review you should too. Worth every penny spent.”

“A gem near Michigan Avenue. This hotel was very comfortable and quiet among the bustle of the area. Once you get to the 5th floor lobby you are in an oasis. Rooms are clean and comfortable.”

“We had a quick end-of-the-summer getaway to Chicago and chose to stay at the Viceroy. The hotel was beautiful, the location was central, and we could walk everywhere from there. It was the perfect space for our getaway. We also did in-room dining, and the food was delicious and the staff was very helpful.”

“A fantastic stay at The Royal Sonesta Chicago River North! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the city with easy access to shopping, dining, and top attractions. The rooms are beautifully designed, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day exploring Chicago. The indoor heated pool is a real highlight. Overall, an exceptional hotel that combines style, comfort, and convenience—I’d absolutely stay here again!”

“I enjoyed my stay here. It was better than I even expected. The hotel is clean, and so was the room. I like the room, view, bed linen, comfy pillows. The only downside was that the sofa had a few visible stains, which was unpleasant to see. However, it didn’t affect my overall impression.

Breakfast is very basic which is typical for this type of hotel.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to George at the Front Desk, who gave some great recommendations for nearby restaurants and places to eat. We followed his suggestions and really enjoyed them!

Parking is 65$ per night.”

“The good: The location is great and has a few coffee shops within a few minutes walk. The parking garage is also half a block away and not a bad walk at all. The vibe upon entering was quite nice because of the grand lobby. The colors of the furniture were sort of all over the place.

THE BAD: Our room had a corner wall that had coffee spilled on it. The caulk around the toilet base was brown. Although maybe not the hotels fault but the hallway of floor 10 smelled like smoke (cigar or cigarette). Our tv remote didn’t work when we arrived but engineer quickly came in with a new one and it worked perfectly.

The service was kind but not efficient. Upon checking in, I was about to be charged a random amount of $163 even though I already paid through my Bonvoy app. I had to ask him kindly “what’s this charge for?” And he said “oh….i apologize.” Strange interaction.
Since I have Gold Elite status my room was supposed to be upgraded if there was availability. I know there was availability because they were available for booking. Instead, he gave us “a room on a high floor with a nice view “ which turned out to be a view of the neighboring buildings ac units on the roof. Turns out this guy was 25 years old and he was certainly not an experienced enough in fine hospitality to know that room and view were exceptionally average.”

“Perfect for our Memorial Day weekend get a way. Walking distance to so many things along Michigan avenue and easy to get to if you go out and about.

Parking was attached, though a very tight cork screw type garage.”

“I liked the hotel. However, there was a significant delay in getting our car back from the valet that made us to an event we were attending. This occurred despite us calling from our room prior to checking out to ask them to get our car.”

“Really friendly staff and super comfortable bed. It was nice having a bathtub and shower. View was nice but location was not my favorite, however I was able to get around easily still.”

“Best aloft I've stayed at. I'm here once or twice a month, rooms are great and the staff actually cares. Location in river north is great, and having a Beatrix in the lobby means it's easy to get good food without even leaving the building (though there are enough solid options nearby that you don't have to stay in).”

“This motel is centrally located in downtown Chicago. Walking distance to the Millennium mile, restaurants, bars and the subway redline. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Being a New Yorker it was great to have an authentic and delicious bagel breakfast deli/spot on the premises. Shout out to Hector for recommending one of the best deep dish pizzas on Wells Street in Lou Marzonis (sic).”

“We had a wonderful stay at Nobu Hotel and were truly impressed from the moment we arrived. The hotel was spotless—every area, from the lobby to our room, was exceptionally clean and well maintained. It’s clear that the staff takes great pride in keeping the property in top condition.

What really made our stay stand out was the level of service from the team. Everyone we interacted with was warm, professional, and eager to help. A special thank you to Gino, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He took the time to recommend several fantastic restaurants in the area, and his suggestions ended up being some of the highlights of our trip.

Between the beautiful property, outstanding cleanliness, and genuinely kind staff, Nobu always delivers a great experience.”

“My partner and I toured and met with several hotels, restaurants and event centers in downtown Chicago, and the choice was simple to select the Kimpton for our wedding this year. The location, the on-site amenities/facilities, the food, and most importantly the service was top-notch! Mariah is everything and more than we could have ever hoped for in an on-site event coordinator. She was professional, responsive, friendly and went above and beyond to make this day special for us.

With so many guests coming in town for the event, we loved the idea of having it at a hotel downtown so guests could see the city and easily navigate our wedding which was all at the Kimpton. Boleo is incredible - especially if you can luck out with the weather like we did to have an open rooftop with a view of the sears tower. Not only that, but we didn't even need to leave the hotel for photos - the grand marble staircase, vol 39 and a step outside to see the Board of Trade was a game changer and time saver for us too!

Knowing weddings aren't cheap either in the city - the hotel was also one of the most reasonable options in terms of cost with not feeling like a stuffy ballroom type of event in a hotel event center. I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else.”
